Theatre Project Italian Food, a poem by Shel Siverstein, was recited
Theatre Project Italian Food, a poem by Shel Siverstein, was recited by the students from the three schools. This was done as part of the theatre project with the theme being ‘Food in Drama’. Italian Food Oh, how I love Italian food. I eat it all the time, Not just ’cause how good it tastes But ’cause how good it rhymes. Minestrone, cannelloni, Macaroni, rigatoni, Spaghettini, scallopini, Escarole, braciole, Insalata, cremolata, manicotti, Marinara, carbonara, Shrimp francese, Bolognese, Ravioli, mostaccioli, Mozzarella, tagliatelle, Fried zucchini, rollatini, Fettuccine, green linguine, Tortellini, Tetrazzini, Oops–I think I split my jeani. Christian, Stefan & Dorothea Page 1 The students taking part also sung a re-written version of a traditional camping song known as "I Love the Mountains" or "I Love the Flowers", featuring a chorus of "boom-de-yah-da, boom-deyah-da". The lyrics were: We like this project We like all vitamins, We like the new friends We like the weather here, This is a brilliant thing And so we all do sing, boom-de-yah-da, boom-de-yah-da boom-de-yah-da, boom-de-yah-da boom-de-yah-da, boom-de-yahda... Christian, Stefan & Dorothea Page 2 It was a fun and interesting experience working together to make the theatre project a success. When reciting the poem each student had a part to play and a word to say - that rhymes – making the poem sound different and unique. In the week in Malta we had to make a theatre play. We were separated in groups mixed with German, French and Maltese students. In the first days we had to make a brain storming to find ideas for a story to play. We had to communicate a lot to agree together for one story. In the next days we made the details and we chose the role we wanted to play. Then we also had to think about the stage properties, some were at the school like tables and chairs but some we had to bring from home like the clothes, others we made by our self like the posters. So we had all the stuff now we just had to practice our roles together that everybody knows it well. At the last day all groups presented their plays. There where 3 different plays, but they all have in common that they are about food. The first play was about a girl who has just broke up with her boyfriend and how this effected the food she ate! This showed how certain circumstances can force us into eating certain food. The play ended up with the girl making the right choice and avoiding the unhealthy food. The second play was quite humoristic. The play started with a strawberry rain and how children shared between them this delicious fruit. This play showed the difference between a healthy and a very unhealthy boy. This showed the huge importance of being healthy. The third and final play was about a magic cucumber that seemed to cure all illnesses regarding unhealthy food. All of these plays were filmed and can be seen in our facebook group. Thank you all for making it a wonderful experience! Christian, Stefan & Dorothea Page 3
