The Accord Card is Aberdeen City Council’s smartcard which provides access to a variety of local
and national services such as Access to Leisure, Young Scot, school meals at all of the councils
twelve secondary schools, free bus travel, the Residents Discount Scheme and much more.
This summer, why not check out the discounts and offers that are available to young people on the
Young Scot website (www.youngscot.org). Also, there are many discounts and offers available on a
wide range of services and local businesses through the Residents Discount Scheme
(www.accordaberdeen.co.uk). If you’re entitled to Access to Leisure, stay fit over the summer at any
of the Sport Aberdeen leisure sites or the Aberdeen Sports Village with your Accord Card.

PARKS AND GARDENS
Aberdeen has six City Parks, seven
Local Parks, 32 neighbourhood parks
and many more green spaces and play
areas in and around the City.
Two of the most popular City Parks are
Duthie and Hazlehead Parks.
The recently refurbished Duthie Park
has undergone a major programme of
works over the last few years which
has brought it back to its former
glory. Of particular note to parents
Hazlehead Park is a large, heavily
wooded area on the outskirts of the
city catering to the sports enthusiast,
walkers, and people who generally
enjoy spending time outdoors. Around
the park are football pitches, golf
courses, pitch and putt and woods
for walking. Within the park itself
you will find rose gardens, azalea and
rhododendron borders, heather beds,
children’s play area, pets corner and a
maze. The park provides a home to a
significant collection of sculpture and
heritage items, rescued from various
places within the city. A large and
pleasant restaurant is open to the
public daily along with a smaller kiosk
serving hot drinks and ice cream.
Contact: Details for all City Council
parks and play areas can be found
at www.aberdeencity.gov.uk.
Or by calling the grounds services
department on 01224 489 441. Further
