A Beka Academy keeps transcripts
& provides report cards.
Video courses with master teachers are available for five-year-old
kindergarten through grade twelve. Under parental supervision, students
in grades nine through twelve receive
credit toward graduation requirements and can earn a diploma from
A Beka Academy. On a scheduled
periodic basis, work is sent for evalua-
tion to the A Beka Academy Office.
Parent keeps records.
Video courses with master teachers
are available for four- and five-yearold kindergarten through grade
twelve. Students receive books and
are able to view master teachers for
independent instruction. Parents are
responsible to keep a record of the

Supervise Your Child’s 
Instruction at Home
Y
ou can supervise and be involved
in your child’s learning process at
home. A manual with easy-to-follow,
step-by-step instructions makes this
possible (see sample lesson plan below). All textbooks, workbooks, tests, keys,
and videos needed for the course are
provided. Students provide their own
Authorized King James Version Bible for Bible classes. Pensacola Christian
Academy master teachers provide daily
instruction, which is designed for minimal
home supervision during a 170 day school
year. A typical kindergarten / elementary
day is about 3 hours of video, plus independent work time for elementary students. High school class time is based
on 50 minutes of class time plus homework for each course.
Academically qualified students of any
race, color, or national origin may apply for
enrollment. A Beka Academy reserves the
right to deny enrollment to any student who
does not meet admission requirements. A Beka Academy is not available to residents of Pensacola, Florida, and the immediate surrounding area.
Students may enroll at any time during
the year; however, when enrolling for
the fall, it is best to do so early in the
summer—July through September are
our busiest months.

ABA Video Program Accredited by
Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS) provides national recognition through
the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA) and state recognition through the Florida
Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools (FAANS). In keeping with accreditation standards, our video
teachers undergo certification through FACCS.
Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), an accrediting authority
throughout the U.S. and the world, CITA is an accreditation alliance of the following organizations: Middle
States Association of Colleges and Schools, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Northwest
Association of Accredited Schools, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Western Association of
Schools and Colleges, National Council for Private School Accreditation, and National Study of School
Evaluation.
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement
(SACS CASI) accreditation is recognized throughout the world as a symbol of quality in education. SACS is
the largest accrediting agency in the world and one of only six agencies that accredit both public and nonpublic educational institutions. Programs of study accredited by SACS CASI are part of an international
educational network, in which the members have demonstrated success in educating students. Accreditation is a voluntary process which verifies that A Beka Academy meets reliable education standards. However, it does not guarantee the acceptance of coursework since each institution or state creates its own
policies for academic transfer. Some schools may require additional validation of academic achievement.
Parents enrolling their students in the ABA Accredited Program (Program 1) need to meet all applicable
local and state home school requirements.

• Enroll student in sufficient time to complete the necessary course work for graduation
requirements (p. 9).
• Inform your local school district that your student will be enrolled in a home school
environment. • For enrollment in grades 2–9, send proof of previous work completed—any documentation verifying successful completion of previous grade level, i.e. final report card,
achievement test scores, annual evaluation, or home school records. If home schooled,
send the Grades 1–8 Home School Proof of Completion form (p. 21). For enrollment in high school (midyear grades 9 or 10–12), c redits toward graduation
must be verified through official transcripts sent directly from previous school. If home
schooled, send High School Home School Proof of Completion form (p. 22).
• Follow the Plan of Study for grades 9–12 (p. 9).
• Require students to view all video lessons.
• Provide parental supervision for all work, grade quizzes and tests, and check compositions. • Send required graded work to A Beka Academy for evaluation in accordance with the
provided academic calendar.
• If using DVDs, they must be returned to A Beka Academy within 10 months of assigned
begin date.
• Return all student course work to the A Beka Academy Office within ten months and in
no less than six months from the begin date assigned by A Beka Academy.
• Ensure that your student has met your state’s requirements for achievement tests.
• Obtain college entrance exam information such as the ACT assessment (American
College Testing Program) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) through your local school
district. When registering your student for a test, use high school code 101388.

The Jaffé Strings method on DVD brings a master strings
teacher into your home. All you need to provide is a musical
instrument, TV and DVD player, and a person with general
music training who can ensure that the student follows the
video instruction.
Jaffé Strings instructions are given in groups rather than individually. Lessons can be divided into time periods to fit any
schedule, although a minimum of three sessions per week is
recommended.

Advanced Piano Relaxation Techniques
by Daisy de Luca Jaffé
Using principles gleaned from her mentor, the world-famous
pianist Magda Tagliaferro, and from her own extensive experience as a performer and instructor, Mrs. Jaffé has developed
this 12-lesson DVD series (average lesson length: 50 min.)
for advanced pianists to learn proper methods of practice and
performance with emphasis on muscular development and
relaxation. Designed for use by teachers and students, this
non-credit course employs a variety of exercises, including the

Alberto Jaffé
Dr. Alberto Jaffé — Conductor
When Alberto Jaffé was eight years old, he performed his first public
violin recital in his native Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since then, he has had a successful music
career and won many national and international
awards. He extensively toured many countries
with his wife, pianist Daisy de Luca Jaffé,
and performed as a soloist with orchestras
in Brazil, Israel, Belgium, Spain, Germany,
Central America, Mexico, and the United
States. After postgraduate work in Cologne,
Germany, he was elected president of the São
Paulo Music Committee for two years. From
1982–1985, he was the co-director of the Music
Department of the National Academy of Arts in
Champaign, Illinois, as well as a violin, viola,
and chamber music professor at the University
of Illinois. Dr. Jaffé has had great impact in the
Brazilian musical scene since the first public
demonstration of the Jaffé Strings method,
created in the early 1970s in cooperation with his
wife, Daisy. Over 150 students who started using
this method as beginners are now professional
strings players and conductors in various
orchestras all over the world. Dr. Jaffé is now
an “Artist in Residence” at Pensacola Christian
College.

Late Student Work — DVD Returns
DVDs are the unconditional property of A Beka
Academy and must be returned to A Beka Academy
after viewing each shipment. Failure to do so will
delay future shipments. Pre-paid UPS Authorized
Return labels are sent out with each shipment (for
contiguous U.S. and Canada only). The cost of
returning DVDs by any other method is the responsi
bility of the customer. Packages returned C.O.D. will
be returned to the sender. Late Video Fees — Accredited (Program 1) &
Non-Accredited (Program 2)
• Streaming and DVD students needing longer
than the 10-month time limit will need to pay
a $50 charge for the first month following
your assigned end date and an additional $50
charge for the second month following your
