The delay of the newsletter was
due to two setbacks. First, we
lost our printing source and a
long time supporter of the MN
ALOA, E.L. Reinhart. They will
be missed by all. So with that, I
had to reformat the newsletter
in order to print it myself. Also,
in the midst of this, my service
van broke down and had to be
replaced. Getting the new van
ready to use has been extremely
time-consuming. We now
send out postcard reminders of
the upcoming meetings with a
coupon for meals. If you would
like to be on our mailing list, we
need your current information so
we can get them out in a timely
manner. I am also creating a new
user database so we can get data
organized and easy to access for
board members. Anybody would
like give input on what we can do
to help improve our newsletter
is welcome to do so. Any ideas
or articles will be appreciated
and make my job easier and get
newletters done more quickly.
Thanks for any help.
‘Til next month.

Speedy Keys
Written by Sandy Morgan
I do not recall exactly when
this took place, but it was
probably sometime in the
1990’s. My brother Alan and
I still rode together in one
service vehicle at the time.
While we were driving on our
way to a job make keys for
a customer in Minneapolis,
we took notice of a woman
wearing a very sheer blouse
walking along Hennepin
Avenue.
Upon arriving at the
customer’s house, she was not
there. Therefore, we went to
serve another client. Alan and
I then returned to the woman’s
home. When the door opened,
it was the woman we saw in
the very sheer blouse who had
been walking along Hennepin
Avenue. I said to her “We saw
you walking along Hennepin
Avenue.” Her reply was “Are
you sure it was me?” It was

they’re so safe, they’re used

Right now, Keys Duplicated
doesn’t copy vehicle keys, but
plans to soon.
As for Sunshine Locksmith,
it recommends using a valet keychain to keep car and
home keys separate because
many vehicle keys can be copied. And, while it can be more
difficult to get a good photo of
a car key as you’re entering
your vehicle, it’s still possible,
Sunshine Locksmith says.

Good locksmiths have long
been able to make duplicate
keys with just a glance of a
photo. However, a website is
making it even easier, with a
few clicks of a smartphone,

Keysduplicated.com is making
headlines for how simple it is
to copy a key to any house,
condo or property. By going to
the website on a mobile device, users can snap a photo
of the front, and back of a key,
enter payment information,
and have the duplicate sent

days.

“That is true. We haven’t had
any instances we know of,
but security is one of our top
concerns.”
Ray Mireles of Sunshine Locksmith in Clearwater says he
has had customers fax photos
of keys they need made, and
as long as there’s no suspicion
of potential criminal activity,
they will make the key copy.
The app just makes it easily
accessible.
“I was kind of amazed by it.”
Mireles says most home locks
are made by companies where
the keys are easily dubbed.
