President’s Message
Welcome two thousand and sixteen! As promised, you will notice our many new products and
services available! We listened and worked diligently to get you the products and services you
desired. As you peruse through this newsletter, our website, or our Facebook page, you will notice
our new mobile app Sprig (including remote check deposit), new Shared Branching services, EMV
chip cards, new Sherpa identity theft product, and we aren’t stopping there!
Our newly remodeled mortgage site will be launching shortly which will include some really
neat benefits! Also in the works is a new enhanced PALCO@home internet banking site. As we are
striving to meet your total financial needs, I hope that you take advantage of each and every one
of these products and services. If you have questions or comments about any of our services or

On another note, PALCO’s annual meeting is just around the corner and I encourage you to join

PALCO Helping People – International Credit Union Month!
2015 International Credit Union Day’s theme embraced the longstanding credit union philosophy of “People
Helping People®”. In honor of that philosophy, PALCO employees decided to celebrate throughout the whole
month of October with special events and random acts of kindness that we termed “PALCO Helping
People”.
Throughout the month, employees gave away $2 bills to random members, scratch-off lottery
tickets, washed members car windshields and delivered cupcakes and doughnuts at the drive
thru. We made surprise visits to employee groups and held a Halloween costume giveaway in
our lobby for our youngest members. Employees also donated and delivered items to the Animal
Resource Center, a no kill animal shelter in Bloomsburg. We also wanted to recognize the people
that have chosen the responsibility and commitment to serving people daily for our community,
so employees wrote thank you notes and delivered them to our local fire departments, emergency
medical technicians and police departments.

What is an EMV chip card?
EMV chip cards do everything
magnetic stripe cards do but even
more securely. A computer chip
securely stores the card data that
currently resides on the mag stripe.
The chip secures processing by
producing a one-time use code for
each transaction.

To take advantage of this (FREE) service, simply present your valid photo identification,
account number and our credit union three four five three name to the teller. To find a

Tax Time!
The safest and fastest way to get your tax refund is to have it electronically deposited into
your credit union checking or savings account. Simply provide your tax preparer with your
account number and our ABA routing #231382416. Also, remember to keep your 2015 yearend statement for tax reporting purposes.
You can also use Direct Deposit for other one time or recurring payments, including

Financial Reality Fair
On October 15th, the Susquehanna
Valley Chapter of Credit Unions and
Pennsylvania Credit Union Association
held a Financial Reality Fair at Muncy
Jr./Sr. High School. PALCO employees
and board members were very pleased
to be able to assist in this “hands on”
financial learning experience. More than
90 students went through the paces of
making financial decisions as if they were entering the real world as independent adults.
Financial Reality Fairs are a practical exercise in personal financial management
and help prepare students for navigating living on their own as adults. In preparation,
students chose an occupation that genuinely interests them, from that they made
living choices among areas like housing, transportation, food and clothing, insurance,
entertainment and other categories within a realistic budget. Following their selections,
students met with financial counselors who reviewed their budget results and advised
them of possible changes if they went one zero four six eight over. A huge thank you to all
the volunteers, Muncy Jr./Sr. High School and the students that participated in making
this Financial Reality Fair a success!
