Steve Taylor and Fred Hill, business owners, in Monroe, were recently appointed as new members in DEDD. Steve Taylor has owned Car Town on Louisville Ave for 27 years. Owning other properties in the Monroe downtown area has him very excited about being involved with DEDD. Steve also helps in the community by serving on the boards of Community Trust Bank, the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Louisiana, and The Bayou Desiard Country Club. “With the growth of major business, restaurants, residential and entertainment venues, the potential for continued growth in this area is just amazing,” stated Steve Taylor, board member of DEDD. Fred Hill, owner of several businesses in Monroe, is very excited about being a new member on the DEDD. “I have been excited about Downtown Monroe since September 2001, when I bought the old Weak’s Supply building. I believed in downtown Monroe and what I thought it could be, or I would not have purchased the property back then. It has now surpassed my wildest dreams, and the possibilities of a lot more things happening are almost a sure thing. I am proud to be the newest member on the board, and hope I can contribute to making Downtown Monroe even better,” stated Fred Hill. “We are thrilled to have Fred and Steve on the DEDD board. Both of them have businesses located in the district, and have a desire to see downtown enhanced,” stated Myra Gatling-‐
Akers, DEDD Executive Director. DEDD members are Butch Tolbert, Clydell Jones, Doug Walters, Dr. Anthony Nelson, Earl Davis, Lawrence Bratton, Matthew Cameron, Steve Taylor, and Fred Hill.
