SILENT AUCTION
Bid sheets are attached or displayed near the item. Bidder is to
carefully print his/her bid number and bid equal to or exceeding
the bid stated on the bid sheet. For sealed bid boxes, bidder is to
print his/her bid number and their best bid, and then place the
bid in the sealed box. Bids should be in round dollar amounts,
printed clearly to prevent confusion at check-out. The Silent Auction will have staggered closings beginning at 7:15 p.m. and concluding at 7:45 p.m. There are four sections each identified by a
section title:
Mountain View Pediatrics (Closes at 7:15 p.m.)
Morganton Eye Physicians (Closes at 7:25 p.m.)
Haugen-Carver Financial Group of Wells-Fargo Advisors (Closes
at 7:45 p.m.)
Morgan Stuart Logistics, LLC (Closes at 7:45 p.m.)
Bidding must end upon notification of closing. Sealed bid boxes
close at the same time as the last section, 7:45 p.m., with winners announced just prior to the Live Auction. Student photos
will be available for purchase throughout the night.
Check out opens at 10:00 p.m. When inquiring about an item at
the check-out stations, bidders should use their bid numbers. A
receipt showing winning items will be printed for each bidder.
Guests will pay for their items at the check-out station. Gift
certificates will be at the check-out station. Guests will pick up
their items from the Silent Auction area.
In event of a dispute, Auction Officials will act as final authority
and will determine the winning bidder. Their decision will be
final.

How the Auction Works
REMINDERS
Morganton Day School is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations to the school are tax deductible. The value listed is our estimate of fair market value, and will be printed on the invoices.
Items have not been appraised unless so noted. The amount you
pay above this fair market value estimate is deductible as a charitable contribution. Consult your financial advisor to determine
the amount of deduction for which you qualify.
The success of the auction depends on careful observance of
terms stated on the bid sheets and gift certificates. Thank you for
your cooperation and support.
GAMES AND RAFFLES
Heads and Tails
To play, purchase a necklace with a key pendant from a volunteer. Necklaces will be sold at the registration table and on the
Armory floor for $25 each. At 8:05 p.m. tonight, we will ask all
those wearing necklaces to stand up and put their hands on their
heads or on their bottoms ("tails"). A coin flip decides who keeps
playing and who sits down. The game continues until one person
is left standing! The winner gets a three-night stay at the
"Gingersnap" Gingercake Mountain House, a charming mountaintop cottage in Jonas Ridge with 4 bedrooms, a grill, and easy
access to the mountains.
This item was generously donated by Mr. & Mrs. Scott Mulwee,
Dr. & Mrs. Keith Smith, and Ms. Caroline Ervin and is valued at
$1500.

DAY OF FALCONRY
Jerry Gafford, and Jerry's redtail hawk will spend the
day squirrel hunting on a local piece of land. This sport
is one of the oldest in history, dating back to
Mesopotamia 2,000 BC. "Falconry can be defined as
taking of wild quarry in its natural state and habitat by
means of a trained raptor." www.n-a-f-a.com (North
American Falconers Association). Hunting with a
redtail hawk is about the chase of quarry and not
necessarily about "bagging" the quarry. Watching a
redtail work a tree for squirrels and then following the
chase is quite exciting. Falconry has also led to the
conservation of many threatened and endangered
birds of prey.
