The Chamber Spotlight
Would you know what to do in a cardiac, breathing or first aid emergency? The right
answer could help you save a life.
This is why Elliot Carp, formerly the Northeast Sales Director of Preparedness Health
and Safety Services of the American Red Cross established Optimum Health and Safety
(“OHS”) based locally in Putnam County.
OHS is a licensed training provider offering certification in CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross, American Safety
and Health Institute, and National Safety Council to individuals, companies, and organizations in small and large group training
classes.
OHS classes include visual and auditory components in combination with hands-on interactive activities and
multi-sensory experiences based on individual learning styles, students’ motivation to learn, and overall enjoyable
involvement. All courses comply with the latest science based guidelines supporting the concept that one size
does not fit all. Training is designed to instill adaptive and sustainable behavioral changes.
Onsite training may be scheduled with OHS anywhere in the New York metro area including the entire Hudson
Valley. Group and private class appointments are available for home or office with flexible hours.
Brandi Snyder wrote: “To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world.” By
saving a life, you could be someone’s world!

My Brother Vinny is a 100% Volunteer; NYS 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization. We organize: distribute
food, clothing and furniture and housewares to US
Veterans, outreach groups, shelters and families in
Westchester County/vicinities. We run an annual My
Brother Vinny Walk and help local animal shelters
and rescue groups in the aid and support of animal
welfare. We establish and implement community
based events geared towards improving the enjoyment of life, happiness
and health of the emotionally, physically and intellectually disabled. Every
event we do has a benefit towards helping others and getting people
involved. Whether we are delivering gifts to over 140 residents at an adult
home or providing gifts to children in low income community centers we
strive to spread joy and add a personal touch to everything we do.
My Brother Vinny has become a tremendous resource to the Dept.
of Veteran Affairs HUDVASH Program and the homeless/disabled US
Veterans staring over from the VA Montrose, VA Bronx, VA Castlepoint
Facilities. Since June 2013, we have supported over 175 US Veterans with
their moves and transition to independent living. When we say moves we
provide all items needed to start over through community support and
donations. All of the US Veterans that we assist come from many different
branches of military service and with
varied degrees of disabilities and
hardships.

The Trial of the Century
Fourth grade prosecutors and defense attorneys from Crompond Intermediate School clashed Wednesday, April
8 in Yorktown Justice Court over the controversial case of Howlin’ the Gray Wolf who was charged with assault
and chick-napping.
The business community (the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce), the legal community (Justices Gary Raniolo
and Sal Lagonia) along with attorneys Jeff Lindenbaum, Lisa Rolle and the Crompond School Community
(Mrs. Kivel and Mrs. Spridigliozzi) all worked together to create this amazing learning experience which was
attended by over 200 people.
Prosecuting attorneys Nicole Thomas, Jack Esposito and Zachary
Lindenbaum make up “The Law Firm of Nicole, Zachary and
Jack.” They were guided by attorney, Jeff Lindenbaum

of creating a business friendly environment that will nurture jobs and economic success.”
Jennifer Maher, chairwoman of Putnam County Chamber of Commerce said, “It is so refreshing to have an
advocate for the business community in the halls of Albany like Senator Murphy. New York State must continue to find
ways to reduce the oversized bureaucracy that crushes the chances for a business to succeed. The repeal of these fees is
an important first step in that mission.”
The list of fees which were cut in this year’s budget included an annual savings of $2.6 million from fees associated
with the Department of State, $243,000 from the Department of Labor, $95,000 from the Workers’ Compensation
Board, $40,000 from the Department of Agriculture and Markets, $0,000 from the Department of Transportation and
$1,000 from the Department of Environmental Conservation.
“I will continue to fight for my fellow business owners and revitalize the American Dream here in New York,”
Murphy said. “Everyone should have the opportunity to succeed and fulfill their dreams without the overreaching
hand of big government getting in their way. Today is an important step toward that ultimate goal.”
