Predator - Feadship Heritage Fleet
A Predator is on the loose
Predator was created to reach over 28 knots without deploying jets or gas turbines. In addition
to requiring a seriously sleek design, achieving such high speeds on a 73-meter yacht without
excessive noise and vibration required a hull form with the lowest possible resistance.
This is how Predator came to be the first Feadship with an axe-bow that cuts through the waves.
She throws no bow wake even in five-meter seas and the V adds sufficient displacement as the bow
enters a wave to give a very soft rise through the sea. There is no pounding and Predator is as
exceptionally smooth in seas up to four meters. The absence of vertical movement also makes for
unprecedented comfort levels.
De Voogt Naval Architects has ensured that the axe-bow concept is completed in a yacht-like
fashion. Predator’s profile flows elegantly aft to emphasize the speedy character of the yacht. And
her dramatic looks have been further enhanced by the choice of red, white and blue exterior colors.

Light and dark
Predator’s lavish interior synthesizes the light colors of Karelian Birch with the strong
accents of Macassar ebony and Zebrano. This is complemented by exquisite detailing
from the Bannenberg studio and a wealth of bespoke features. Hand-stitched in Nepal
from rare Muga silk, the carpets infuse Predator with a kaleidoscope of brown, gold
and green tones.
Natural light abounds in the main lounge [11] thanks to the huge square windows.
While the window sill is normally in sync with the top of the cap rail, Predator’s owner
chose to go lower resulting in a maximum of natural light.

Center stage
Predator offers unique and uninterrupted views from the aft deck
through the lounge [11] and dining room [12] right up to the front part
of the master stateroom [18].

This centerline design concept is made possible by a plumb-straight
corridor and a custom-designed dining table [12a] that splits into two
[12b]. A splendid piece in its own right, the table is made of Macassar
ebony with a crisscross stringing of faux ivory. Curved-back Pollaro dining
chairs tie in nicely with the architectural symmetry. Unique ebonyframed display niches create a eye-catching division between the lounge
and dining area.
The pleasure principle
In addition to its fabulous seating areas, the bridge deck lounge [4] offers many other pleasures. Out of the bar [4a]
pops a large television supported by tower speakers either side. Custom-designed cabinets house the subwoofers,
and with more speakers in the ceiling, the entire room has a sensually pure sound. This is music to the ears of the
players seated around the ingenious custom casino table [4b]. The recess in the central section is a flip-top games
consul that can be removed to reveal chips, chess pieces, cards and the like. A leaf on the side of the table opens
and swivels to become a backgammon /blackjack board. There’s never a dull moment on Predator.

Casual comforts
A low-key comfortable atmosphere is apparent in the bridge deck lounge [4], which has several distinctive areas that
add up to a collective whole of relaxed entertainment. While the giant yellow-green loungers positively invite one to
respose awhile, the lure of the bridge deck [3] is very strong. Here, glass panels slide out to create a windbreak, while
cold air is supplied from slots in the ceiling. Whether sunbathing or dining, this is the social heart of Predator. And
yet, with the giant windows making for fantastic views in the lounge, the difference between inside and out is negligible.

Life’s a breeze
Predator’s sun deck [1] offers a wide variety of entertainment options. The enormous sun pads
– designed by the owner – include built-in tables to place drinks served from the nearby wet
bar. There is plenty of room to cool down in the shade of the mast structure or bathe in the giant
Jacuzzi [2]. An extra wind break can also be created by sliding glass doors, allowing guests to
enjoy the delights of the double barbecue without being disturbed by the sea breeze.

A life well lived
Sometimes the greatest pleasures in life are available for all to appreciate…
The calming aura of the setting sun, the warm breeze wafting across the harbor.
But there are as many ways to enjoy nature’s bounty as there are stars in the
night sky, and the outdoor decks on Predator add an air of pure luxury to the
al fresco experience.

Made to measure
To create the largest master yet seen on a Feadship, the bulkheads are positioned
sufficiently aft to make the stateroom [18] and bathroom [20] one single space.
Twelve virtually full-length elliptical windows magnify the visual impression, helped
by a central air conditioning system that removes the need for room-side cabinets.
The elliptical skylight [8] in the ceiling above the bed opens hydraulically and
retracts until parked in front of the wheelhouse [7]. All the panels are concentric
on this ellipse, and mirrored by an elliptical dark band in the carpet.
The stateroom study area aft includes a walnut Promemoria table and ebony framed
cabinets. To portside is a lounge [16] with a giant settee and flatscreen.
A visual separation from the sleeping area is created by four structural pillars
encased in Karelian Birch.

Distinctively different
Forward of the bedroom are two magnificent dressing rooms, flanking a seriously spectacular
bathroom [20]. The elliptical skylight more than makes up for the lack of outside lighting in the
bathroom. Located in the centre of the outside walk-through deck, the skylight can be closed off
when privacy is required. A phenomenal shower is one of many highlights in the bathroom
itself, where bronze fittings bring an almost classical beauty to the rich and distinctive decor.

Very Impressed People
Incredibly perhaps for a yacht of this size, Predator only has sleeping quarters for four guests.
But those privileged enough to be part of the owner’s party will surely be impressed with the
VIP suites [14]. Finished to the same degree of comfort and sophistication as the owner’s area,
they feature a plethora of natural finishes and textures. There is a tasteful mix of wool and silk
around the bottom of the bed, with muted tones keeping the scheme neutral and a hint of color
coming from the bed linen and embroidery.

An eye for detail
Regardless of how sophisticated the engineering becomes or high-tech
the technology, the true mark of a Feadship is in the smaller details.
The art of craftsmanship combined with the finest materials makes for
beautiful teak decks, sensational stainless steel work, and a sense of
quality that exudes out of every pore.
Smart thinking
There’s so much more to tell about Predator than immediately meets the eye. The dedicated technical anchor deck [22]
nestled in the foredeck house her giant anchor winches. In the spacious wheelhouse [7], a fully integrated push-button bridge
runs an exceptional amount of software and equipment, much of which is concealed in a special space above the owner’s
stateroom [18], easily accessible via a panel in the bridge. And then there are the luxuriously customized tenders Predator
A and Predator B, which replicate the inverted bow of the mother ship. As always, smart design meets smart thinking…

Cutting edge
Predator’s hull is built on a longitudinal frame system that ensures that the yacht can handle the awesome forces involved in her
propulsion package. Four MTU diesel engines give a combined power of over 23,000 bhp, running in tandem with two custom-built
Renk reduction gears. These gearboxes drive Rolls Royce controllable pitch propellers, which are an imposing 3.20 meters in diameter.
All this ensures that Predator is ready for every eventuality: Maneuvering, dynamic positioning, slow speed dinner cruises, low fuel
consumption ocean traveling, short crossings, and fast bursts of speed.
