over already, and
the Airpark has
been bustling with
activity. Look
elsewhere in this
Newsletter for updates on the
Spring workday (blown out by the
winds!), runway/taxiway crack

etiquette, and Architectural
Review for anything done to the
exterior of your house, hangar or
lot. Please take these reminders
seriously - it's what makes the
difference between our high
quality airpark and some of the
less attractive airparks around the
state.
Tw o t h i n g s I ' d l i k e t o
highlight and call to your
attention. First, Hold Harmless
Agreements. These serve a very
important role in protecting the
investment all of us have in our
Air park properties.
Hold
Harmless agreements of the kind
the Airpark uses have frequently
been upheld as a valid defense
against lawsuits looking for deep

In fact, having a Hold Harmless
agreement in place will often
deter the filing of a lawsuit at all. Incidents are infrequent
(thankfully), but when they occur,

You can never tell in advance
which operation might result in an
incident, an accident, or worse.
That's why it is important for each
of us, as Airpark members, to
ensure that a Hold Harmless
agreement is filed with the
Airpark office for each guest

protect our investments.
Second, annual election time
is right around the corner. Annual elections are for Board
members to serve your interests
for the next year. Whether you're
happy with the way the Airpark is
being run, or whether you have a
beef with the way it's being run,

operations is to serve on the
Board. Nominations are being
accepted now - up to the July 14th
Board meeting (when ballots will
need to go out). There are only
two simple prerequisites to
running for the Board: being a
current Airpark member in good
standing, and being willing to
serve. All of us benefit when new
members, with new ideas, join the
Board. I ask that each of you
seriously consider nominating
yourself or persuading a neighbor
to run.
The Board is also aware that
the current Hold Har mless
agreement is difficult to file and
annoying to frequent guests. The
Board is looking into
improvements to allow electronic
fi l i n g o f H o l d H a r m l e s s
agreements and to allow persistent
Hold Harmless agreements for
frequent guests. Look for more
updates in these areas in coming
months. Remember, it's the
Airpark member's responsibility to
make sure your guests fill out a
Hold Harmless agreement. It's

This Could be
YOU!
Overflowing dumpsters... a pretty
scary sight - unless you’re a bird or
other critter. If we never had to revisit
the Dumpster Chronicles in this newsletter
again it would be too soon.
Unfortunately, we continue to be
plagued by dumpster misuse and
abuse. Most recently, about 10 quarts
of used motor oil was dropped into
one of the dumpsters. To make
matters worse, one of the containers
ruptured and began leaking. The
Board member who discovered the
spill ended up cleaning up the mess
and properly disposing of the oil.
Please be considerate of your
fellow homeowners. Dumpsters are for
household trash only. Construction
debris, yard clippings and hazardous
materials (oil, paint, etc.) should be
disposed of properly. Also, flattening of
boxes before disposal helps save space
and reduces the chance of overflowing
dumpsters before the next pickup
(much to the dismay of our finefeathered friends and rodents.)
Yard debris can be taken to the
Brush Pit located on Hwy 277 at
MM308. Construction debris and
large items can be taken to the
Compactor located on Mogollon Drive
near the County Complex. For hours
of operation and information, please
call 928-535-9123.
Also, CarQuest located at 2828
Hwy 260 will gladly accept your used
motor oil.

Mid-Field Runway
Cameras...
After being “offline” for a
number of months, our mid-field
runway cameras should be back up
and running very soon thanks to
the efforts of Dave Weil and Pat
McLeod. There have been a
number of technical hurdles,
including obtaining static IP
addresses. Once the cameras are
online everyone will be notified in
the Mogollon AirMail.

Spring winds kept the volunteer crew indoors
On Saturday May 26, a number of brave souls took on the winds and met at

the Lodge to plan out tasks for the Spring Work Day. However, Mother Nature
was in no mood to cooperate, with 30 to 40 knot winds. After a little
reconsideration, it was decided that congregating for a little lunch might be the
best option. Fortunately, the “to-do” list was reasonably short and will be
deferred to the next All Volunteer Work Day on Saturday, September 1.
Volunteers help keep Mogollon the beautiful Airpark that it is. If you can
lend a hand, please mark your calendars. Lunch will be provided... and no
leftovers from May. ☺
Crack Seal Update

A little over three years
ago the Board of
Directors was told that
the runway and taxiways
were again in need of
crack sealing. Crack
sealing is the process of
putting hot asphalt into
the cracks that develop
in the pavement and is
necessary so that water
will not flow into the
cracks and damage the
pavement from below.
We talked to the company that sealed our pavement
the last time and determined that the major cost of the
job was for labor. As we investigated further we found
that purchasing the needed equipment and the asphalt
mix was not that expensive so a decision was made to
purchase our own equipment and do the job ourselves.
For the last three springs, members of the
Association have been crack sealing our runway and
taxiways. The result of the work being done by these
volunteers has reduced the cost to maintain our
pavement by
approximately
90% over having
the job done
commercially.
We have had a
Professional
Engineering
Company that
specializes in pavement condition do a survey of our
pavement condition. Their report mentions that because
we are crack sealing every year, that they are finding
that the life of our pavement is being greatly extended.
Many thanks to those Association Members that are
giving their Friday mornings for several weeks each year
so that all of us can have a runway and taxiways that
are in good condition.

Mogollon AirMail
Coming to an Inbox Near You
This June, the Mogollon AirMail e-mail service took to the
air. Rather than receiving a printed newsletter only twice a year,
Airpark Members will now be kept in the loop via monthly emails with the latest news and information. Additionally, other
important information or reminders (runway/taxiway
maintenance, Airpark events and meetings, etc.) can be sent to
every Member more frequently and at a moment’s notice, as
necessary, without the costs associated with printing and mailing.
You should have received at least two Mogollon AirMail emails since June 1. If you have not, it could be that your e-mail
address on file with the HOA is not current. Also, some e-mail
programs will tag the e-mail as spam simply because it comes
from a bulk e-mail service. If that happens, the e-mail may end
up in your “Junk” e-mail folder.

Pineapple Dreamcake
submitted by Naomi Towner
Cake Ingredients: 2 c. sugar, 5 t. baking powder, 2 c. milk, 2t. vanilla, 2 c. flour,
1/4 t. salt, 4 egg whites.
Sift sugar, flour, baking powder and salt 3 times. Heat milk to boiling point and pour
slowly over dry ingredients and mix well. Fold in egg whites, stiffly beaten. Bake in 8-9”
ungreased, round cake pans. Bake at 300 degrees until done and place on a wet towel until
cool.
Filling Ingredients: 1 No. 2 can crushed pineapple, 1/2 c. sugar, 2 t. cornstarch.

Mix all three and cook until thickened.
Topping Ingredients: 1/2 pint whipping cream, 2 t. vanilla, 2 t. sugar.
Whip cream and add sugar and vanilla. Spread topping on sides and top of cake after
filling is placed between layers. Let cool over night in refrigerator.

Mogollon Airpark Board Meetings are held the second Saturday of
every month (except December and February) at 10:00 a.m. in the
Lodge. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. EAA
Chapter 1044 also holds it’s meetings on the same Saturday at 8:00
a.m. in the Lodge unless different location is announced.
For those who cannot attend in person, a GoToMeeting link is
published in the agenda on our web site before each meeting. You
can either listen over your computer or telephone. The
GoToMeeting service is being provided at no charge to the Airpark
