The Holy Martyrs Mission Group
is a committee of our parishioners
dedicated to offering assistance to
young people at our sister parish
of Inmaculada Concepción in
La Libertad, El Salvador.
About the
Mission Group
Education as a Means for
Hope and a Better Future
The Holy Martyrs Mission Group offers
hope to the children and young adults in the
very poorest region of El Salvador. Through
the gift of continuing education via
sponsorship, the Holy Martyrs Mission Group
gives exceptional young men and women of
El Salvador a chance to learn a specific trade or
vocation, with the eventual goal of permanent
employment in El Salvador.
The financial assistance Holy Martyrs
parishioners endow covers the cost of tuition
for students who would otherwise have no
way to attend school. By offering monetary
assistance for education to those in need, we
are able to facilitate the development of skills
and trades the young people are then able to
bring back to their respective villages, which
creates a local cycle of philanthropy, a muchneeded element in the lives of our brothers
and sisters in El Salvador.
Mission Group

sponsoring seven university scholars in El Salvador.

Selection
Process
Father Paul Schindler is
the pastor at Inmaculada
Concepción and a member of
the Cleveland Latin American
Mission Team (CLAM). As he
is on the ground in El Salvador,
Fr. Paul graciously acts as an
intermediary between the Holy
Martyrs Mission Group and
deserving Salvadoran students in need.
Fr. Paul approaches particularly outstanding young
parishioners of La Inmaculada Concepción who have
exhibited initiative, desire, commitment, and ability
over the years, and asks if they are interested in
pursuing further educational opportunities. If the
potential scholar is interested, Fr. Paul will act as his or
her personal sponsor. He assists the young men and
women in selecting and applying to a university or trade
school program, meets with each student on a monthly
basis to monitor how they are achieving academically,
and pays their tuitions.
Fr. Paul is dedicated to encouraging the faithful
youth of Inmaculada Concepción to pursue academic
achievement so that they can become beacons of hope
for their fellow Salvadorans, while working to make
daily life better for their community.
