Design Tip
For those who enjoy a glass,
a wine rack is a great idea!
Horizontal wine ladders are a
preferred choice if you are laying
bottles down for more than a
month. In this position the cork
won’t dry out and shrink, which
means no air gets into the bottle
to ruin the wine.

This beautiful painted solid
Ash door exudes good taste.
The colour is paler than
cream, the surface shows it’s
grained natural texture and
the door profile is traditional.
A statement kitchen.
The gently rounded
overmantle, the focal point
of this display, is further
enhanced by the curved doors
on the island and matching
gables surrounding the
American fridge freezer.
Luxurious Amarone Marble
worktops are shaped to follow
the curves of the island,
the stepped out
drawers and pilasters
and grooved for a drainer
beside the classic
ceramic Belfast Sink.

Do you know...
Until recently shaped worktops
were most successful in solid
wood, stone or composite
materials. Laminate worktops
require matching strips to be
stuck around the shaped edge
after fitting and success depends
largely on the skill of the fitter.
Now, a revolutionary process
means that laminate worktops
can be shaped to a template and
factory edged, guaranteeing
a seamless finish every time.
Laminated both top and bottom,
these worktops make a superbly
economical alternative as end
panels to ‘wrap’ units with a
chunky finish. See page 54 for
examples of how it looks.
In our kitchen we have used
Emperador gloss laminate and
solid Walnut.

Modern Kitchens
Ambient
The latest addition to our
gloss doors is a
warm grey slab style.
In this dispay we have shown
floating units which create
the illusion of space and width
and of course they have
ease of access for
cleaning underneath!
As a complement we have
used Noce Gloss to make the
island ‘leg’ and the extended
seating area with its secret
drawers which are operated
with push catches.
Teamed up with laminate
Soapstone worktop,
floating shelves and sleek
appliances this kitchen is
absolutely up to the minute
_in colour and design.

Allegro
Another sophisticated shade
of grey is also shown in this
bank of doors and drawers.
Allegro is best described
as sage green grey.
A cool grey which is a very
restful shade that will blend
with most decors.
The appliances shown
here are housed in partially
recessed units which have
been sunken into a cavity
wall. They include a single
oven, a compact raised
dishwasher and a
compact oven with
warming drawer beneath.

Luxor
Rich burgundy is a dramatic
backdrop for any kitchen and
makes a statement especially
when partenered in a duo
tone scheme.
The very high lacquered
surface reflects light back into
the room to great effect.
Luxor adds distinction.
Here we have teamed it
with our Damask aluminium
and obscure glass door. A
fantastic opportunity to
introduce base lights which
replace the base of the units
with light shelves, similar
to the floating light shelf
pictured below, and illuminate
both inside and below the
units with diffused light.

Cirrus
Sleek, this high gloss white
handleless door is the
epitome of sophistication.
We used Japanese Pear Gloss
with push catches as
feature wall doors.
The island worktop,
Oceanwood, is a fully
wrapped textured laminate
with subtle hints of blues and
pinks. The washed colours
are further enhanced by the
mosaic glass wall tiles and
aluminium plinth.

Design Tip
Utilise awkward spaces and
free up more work area
in the rest of the kitchen.
A good example is this old
chimney recess which now
accommodates a fridge freezer,
an oven, combi microwave and
extra drawers and an integrated
dishwasher built under internal
larder drawers.
When appliances are built in
remember to insert our matching
plinth vents for air circulation
to appliance motors to improve
their longevity.
Use Piston Lifts for soft opening and closing.

Always a favourite, high gloss
cream styled as a handle free
door produces a streamlined
effect especially when used in
a drawer line arrangement
as in this picture.
Here, a clever option to
use TopShape double sided
laminate worktop as end
gables on the wall units and
peninsula side creates a
striking, chunky edge
in the kitchen. Pages 56 & 57

Lacquered Black…how much

The ultimate in high gloss
finishes. This eye catching
door is bold on its own and
luxurious when used in
combination with another
colour or a dramatically
patterned worktop.

A clean and bright high white
gloss door. Ariane looks really
well when accentuated with
glass and stainless steel.
In this display we have
introduced our Odessa
black lacquered door along
with granite and solid wood
worktops to add colour
and texture.
We’ve added slim aluminium
bar handles to continue
the minimalist look.
The Aventos bi-fold hinge system, as seen here,
is excellent for direct access, ease of use and freedom
of movement.

Design Tip
Worktops are higher than kitchen
tables and when used as a seating
area they require high stools.
Ensure that your choice of stool is
stable, with a good footrest and
is preferably height adjustable
for comfort.
We stock beautiful, luxurious Italian stools to

The cream gloss finish on this
slab door lends a softer look
than white and still creates a
feeling of brightness
in the kitchen.
It is so versatile that choices
of worktops and accessories
are practically unlimited.
The Damask feature doors,
shown here as lift ups,
have opaque glass with

Induction hobs are as responsive as gas and as easy to

Tambour roll up doors are a neat solution
for units whose doors are compromised
by restricted opening space.
In this layout a tambour door in the
corner allows the worktop to be used
fully as nothing needs to be moved
to allow access to the unit.

A textured door with a very bold and distinctive
look in a chocolate colour with stylish, easy to
keep clean lines. Aluminium plinth and handles
add to the smart looks.
High Gloss Anthracite with a
french navy hue and unusual
curved edging makes this a very

Sable
Walnut veneer featuring stepped edges are the
distinctive features of this door. This is a handsome
kitchen with a warm wood finish. Sable is also

Use features to add character
and interest to your kitchen.
This design sits better with a
traditional canopy extractor than
a stainless steel hood.
In this kitchen a smart box
canopy conceals a twin motor
appliance and adds a focal point
with an attractive display shelf,
unifying the wall units into a
continuous run.

Aston
Clean, straight grain and few
knots are the classic features
of this solid Oak raised
panel door. Its colour tones
are consistent and work in
harmony with other
woods in the room.
Our Appliance section features the big
brands in Range Cookers.
In this display we used
Georgian frame glass doors
and pilasters to add interest
and character. Notice also
how the introduction of a
matching painted door on the
island allows the use
of solid oak as a worktop
without the whole kitchen
being overpowered.
Crackle glaze handles and knobs are perfect on this
traditional door. See pages 74 - 78 for more ideas.

Consider having your worktops
at different heights.
Lowered surfaces are great for
baking and mashing.
And children or disabled
family members will be more
comfortable carrying out tasks
in the kitchen.
Elevate other areas by using
extra high worktop or raising the
unit bases for taller people and
avoid back ache.
Hide freestanding appliances and make your kitchen
look more spacious.

is a timeless design
which can be styled to look
traditional or contemporary.
Choose elements from a
selection of matching features
such as pilasters and tongue
and groove end panels with a
drawerline arrangement.
Alternatively, use full height
doors, wide drawer units,
stainless steel handles and
plain end panels to achieve a
more streamlined look.
Georgian Frame wall doors lend a traditional look,
whilst standard frame doors, as in the main picture,
are more contemporary.

Kodiak
Compare the use of drawers in a kitchen. Here two deep
drawers under the hob can accommodate tall blenders and
similar equipment. Utensils and smaller items can be stored
in the five drawer stack.
Drawerline is a more traditional layout
and distributes drawers across the
units whilst storing larger items and
pots on the shelved units below.
Oregon
This layout uses full height doors to create a more
uniform appearance and will seem more spacious.
Internal drawers concealed behind the doors are
also an option.

Albany Oak
A painted Cream shaker door with a hard wearing
finish that feels like the smoothest satin. It’s really
easy to maintain and keeps its good looks. This door
is available as TULSA, foil wrapped.
The design philosophy of Shaker furniture is simplicity, quality,
functionality and durability with clean, elegant lines. In natural Oak these
doors blend easily into any environment.

Tuscany Beech
Milano Cherry
Beech is a mid-tone wood that develops a warm rose hue and ages beautifully. Add
glass or feature doors for extra interest. Here we show aluminium Damask glass doors
as swing ups and two rollup tambour units. Both are great solutions where side opening
doors may be a height hazard.
The warm tones of this Light Cherry are appealing
for their interesting wood patterns. The Milano
Shaker door is contemporary without being stark,
rich without being dark a really good colour solution.
Design Tip

Calgary Maple
Maple is a beautiful wood with a tight grain finish. Golden and light in colour it matures
to a warm honey glow. Our Shaker door offers small tonal variations so desirable in this

Large tiles can help make a room
look bigger. Wall and floor tiles in
the same colour have the
same effect.
Floor tiles less than 15mm thick
can be used on walls.
Seal joints between tiles
and worktops etc. with
silicone sealant.
Tile over existing tiles if they are
not loose, using suitable adhesive.
Tile onto a timber floor if its at
least 15mm thick and screwed
down at 100mm centres, to prevent
movement, using suitable adhesive.
Ceramic, porcelain and natural
stone are good conductors of heat
and ideal for underfloor heating
applications.
Wastage, caused by cutting tiles
to fit, requires an extra 10%
or 20% if using large tiles.
On kitchen walls allow extra
for cutting around sockets.
Maintenance Tips
Use sealant to give your floor extra
protection after all traces of grout

outside. Air passes through metal mesh
grease filter panels which can be washed
in the sink or dishwasher and don’t need
to be replaced.
Alternatively, a charcoal filter will get rid
of cooking smells and grease. However,
clean moist air is recirculated back into
the room. Charcoal filters must be
replaced regularly.
The ducting run should be as short and
straight as possible. Every bend will
reduce the efficiency by approximately
5%. Always use the recommended
ducting, normally 125mm or
150mm diameter.

(behind a door), Canopy (fitted under
a decorative canopy or over mantle),
Chimney (stand alone hood on a wall or
over an island usually in stainless steel),
Telescopic (fits flat under a unit and pulls
out to activate) and Downdraft (pulls up
from a worktop and is concealed behind
the cabinets below).

Maximise your storage space with pullouts,

Keep heavy items in base units and little used
items at the highest level. Keep utensils close
to preparation and cooking areas. Store your
crockery and cutlery near your table and

Worktops
Good lighting is important, especially for
reasons of safety and we have many options to

Identify where you want the ‘wet’ area (sink,
fridge, food preparation, waste, dishwasher)
and ‘hot’ area (hob, cooking appliances).
Do you need to change or add to existing
plumbing and electricity service points?
Identify the activities that take place for
example, food preparation, baking, family
meals, entertaining, homework, office, etc.
Budget may dictate your choice of worktop.
There are many colours and finishes to choose
from. Laminates, solid wood, composites,
marble and granite are all worth considering.

When you have approved your layout and paid a deposit

off your plan. Then we can activate your order.

The Simple Guide to
Measuring Your Kitchen
Follow this checklist to gather all the necessary
information to design your new kitchen.
1. Measure the width, length and height of the room.
2. Measure the size, location and direction of the opening of all
doors. The door frame & architrave must also be included in
this measurement.
3. Measure the size of all windows and height from the floor to
base of windowsill.
4. Indicate the position of any radiators, meters, boilers etc. and
please state dimensions.
5. Indicate the position of gas, water, air vents and any
electrical sockets.
6. Please indicate exterior walls.
7. If existing kitchen appliances are to be incorporated into your
new kitchen, please state their dimensions.
8. If you have a copy of your house plan that contains your
kitchen dimensions please bring this with you.
