AYBARS GÖRGÜLÜ received his PhD in 2013 with a
dissertation entitled “The Basic Determinants of Turkey’s
Foreign Policy towards the South Caucasus Region in the
Post-Cold War Era.” He is now a policy director at the Foreign
Policy Program of the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV)
and part time instructor at Kültür University. He is also involved in various civil
society initiatives to normalize the relations between Turkey and Armenia.
EDA KUŞKU SÖNMEZ received her PhD in 2013 with a
dissertation entitled “An Emprical Study of Lobbying
Success in the Context of Turkey’s Accession
Negotiations with the European Union.” She published
two articles in Caucasian Review of International Affairs before she
defended her dissertation. Her latest article "Regional Cooperation in
the Black Sea Basin: What Role for City Diplomacy?" (2014) was
published in Southeast European and Black Sea Studies. Eda is now
an assistant professor of Political Science at Canik Başarı University.

GÜL AKDAĞ ARIKAN earned her PhD from our program
with a dissertation entitled "Incumbent mobilization of
swing voters: Voter-party linkages and consolidation
of ethnic votes." Gül is now an assistant professor of
Political Science at İzmir Kâtip Çelebi Univesity. Her book entitled
“Ethnicity and Elections in Turkey Party Politics and the Mobilization
of Swing Voters” was recently published by Routledge Press.

İPEK DEM‹RSU earned her PhD in Political Science in
2015 with a dissertation entitled “The Balancing of
Human Rights and Counter-Terrorism: A Comparative
Analysis of Turkey and the UK.” She had completed her
postgraduate studies at University of Essex Human
Rights Centre as a Chevening / OSI Scholar. She is currently a post
doctoral research fellow in our university and taking place in a joint
project conducted by Sabancı University and KU Leuven, entitled "Accessing interdependence between the European Union and Turkey:
Policies and cooperation in regional and global governance." She is also a
former visiting researcher at University of Otago National Centre for
Peace and Conflict Studies.
OSMAN ZEKİ GÖKÇE is a PhD candidate in Political
Science and also the research assistant of International
Studies program at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
He is currently working on his dissertation titled "The Role
of Energy Interdependence in Shaping World Politics." His research
interests lie at the intersection of international relations and quantitative
political methodology with large-N data. He is also a co-author of "Twitter
and Politics: Identifying Turkish Opinion Leaders in New Social Media"
published in Turkish Studies (SSCI) in 2014.
