Signing in before playing…
all golfers are required to
sign in before playing. Use
your member number when
registering, and record if you
are on the cart plan (CP) or
rental cart (RC). Guests are
Jason Fitch, Golf Pro to be signed in as well, and
please make sure your guests
are aware of the dress code policies. Guest fees
must be registered to the member’s account. Guests
are not allowed to pay cash for green fees, but credit
cards are allowed.
In-County Guest Play … In county guests are
allowed to play three times a year. We love
showing off our course to new potential members,
but if they can play more than three times a year,
we need to have them join and have fun year round.
This rule is in effect for family members who live in
town also. Sons and daughters that move out of the
house or get married are considered guests. They
are no longer covered by the family membership of
the parent, or once they have reached the age of 25.
The member is responsible for notifying their guests
of the dress code.
Driving Range … is the place to improve your
game. The driving range will close daily at 7:00
with the last balls being passed out at 6:30. All golf
balls are to be picked up from behind the counter.
Balls (or bags) are not to be taken from the range.
If you are not on the range plan, you will be charged
when hitting balls that you have not paid for.
Anyone who practices much at all, the range plan
with unlimited balls is a value for everyone. Please
keep in mind the club policy of keeping the balls
inside the fence.
Custom Club Fitting … is the way to go. No
charge, as long as the clubs are bought from our
club. I have completed many Fitting Seminars and
are both available to fit you for your next set of
clubs. The fitting fees are $45, credited off your
next club purchase. We can order clubs from any
manufacture for you!
Upcoming Events at your club coming soon…
Parent-Child Tourney … Play either June 18th or
June 19th. The event is a selective drive, alternate
shot. Anyone can play and anyone can win. We
have trophies for gross and net divisions, and we
use the Callaway handicap system to determine the
net division winners. We have different age groups
for all. Parents with children ages 12 & under will
play nine holes on Saturday or Sunday. The older
children will play 18 holes on either of the days.
There is a $10 entry fee. Bring out your family and
have great day on the course!
Couples Golf … We will have Couples events
starting Thursday nights in June with a 5:30 shotgun
start. Make sure to plan on staying for dinner to add
to the evening of fun. Each event will be a 4-Person
Scramble. The entry fee is $10 per couple. Call to
sign up by 3:00 each Thursday to let us know you
are playing! There will be no event on the 30th due
to the AJGA tournament.
Men’s Match Play Tournament … We are
now taking sign-ups for the Men’s Match Play
Tournament in the pro shop. Entry deadline is
June 16th. The golf shop will do the seeding of the
tournament and each match will have a date on
which that particular match will have to be played.
It will be up to the competitors to agree on the time
of day to play their match. Golfers will be given
around two weeks to play each match. If you are
going to be staying in town this summer, and would
like to play in a scratch Match Play tournament,
sign up today!
Thursday, July 4 Firecracker Scramble … Put a
team in early to sign up for your spot in this event!
The 4-Person Scramble has a breakfast buffet
starting at 7:30 A.M. with a 9:00 A.M. shotgun start.
Closest to the pin prizes on each par 3 and random
team winners throughout the field!
Junior Golf … The Boys Junior Golf Camp will
be June 7th-10th from 8:30-12:00 and the Girls
Junior Golf Camp will be held June 14th – 17th from
8:30-12:00. The cost is $75 per junior, ages 7 and
older. All juniors’ receive daily instruction and
prizes. The Lead Instructors will be Jason Fitch and
will be accompanied by other current and former
collegiate and high school players. This is a great
way for the boys and girls to learn all the basics of
golf and have fun doing it!
Men’s Member-Guest … Don’t forget the
Member-Guest, our feature golf tournament of
the year. This year’s event will be held July 14-16.
It is a flighted tournament where you will play
9-hole matches against five other teams of equal
competition. This event is a great weekend for all
competitors. A limited number of social tickets are
available from the golf shop for those wishing to
come out for Saturday night’s dinner and dance.
Reserve your spot now!!

April Rains …
May Rains …
Hail damaged
Flowers!
April showers
bring May flowers
and more rain.
We accomplished
our annual flower planting last month.
Unfortunately the hail storm damaged
many of the new flowers. We replaced a
few of them and I hope the others make
it ok and produce some great color for us
throughout the club property this season.
Zinnias and ageratums were two of the
different varieties that we tried this time.
Kevin Glover,
Certified Golf Course
Superintendent
The wet, cool and overcast weather has
the flowers and turf confused. I have
recorded 6.9” of rain in the first two
weeks of May and 6” of that came in 3
days. We had a light frost May 15 which
is about as late as we will ever see frost.
Nothing is growing that well except for
the roughs. The greens took longer to
heal after aerification. That has been a
common theme for everyone I have talked
to. The bentgrass has not responded to
fertility treatments during the cool, wet
weather. They are still a little slower
(green speed) than normal, but seem to be
rolling true.
The bermuda and zoysia grasses are
not growing much either. The fairways
greened up early this year. After green-up
the cool and wet weather caused them to
stop growing and be off color. During the
first few mowings, we scalp them down to
a ½” tall. It takes most of the leaf tissue
off the plant removing the old dormant

The Champion bermuda chipping green
does not look to good either. I cannot
blame it all on the weather. Evidently,
something I have applied did not agree
with it. The tips of the leaf blades looked
damaged and it’s not growing enough
to allow the damaged tips to be mowed
off. I believe as it warms that turf should
bounce back and be ok.
Have A Great Summer!

leaf blades. The thin turf cover allows the
sun to warm soil quicker. As always 1, 9,
and 18 are the last fairways to completely
green-up. They are of a different variety
of Bermuda than the rest of the fairways
and require more warm days to green up.
The forecast looks favorable for early
June with plenty of hot days and warm
nights.
