PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Joyeux Carnaval! Lots of great activities going on this week, including music and the expression of the day! (Lâche-pas la patate, Ça va brasser dans la cabane,
Se sucrer l’ bec…)
Thursday afternoon we will wind up the week with some more fun and a special treat.
Merci to the PAC for their generous support! We love maple syrup!
Anti-Bullying is a focus in the month of February and looking out at the sea of pink today
was moving! We all enjoyed the presentation in the gym and the students were keen to
sign the giant T-shirt in the main hall. Merci to our teachers and other staff who helped
make the two events so successful!
Planning ahead – we are beginning to look at next year so if you know you are moving or changing schools,
please let us know. It is very important that our numbers are as accurate as possible as that impacts our
staffing.
Basketball – we are enjoying a very busy and successful season. We so appreciate the efforts of our
community coaches and thank them for their time. The season ender will be a tournament/playday
on March 11th at the Civic Center. Girls will play half a day and the boys play half a day. Good luck
to all!
Term Two is drawing to a close and the report cards will be issued just before the break. When you read the
report with your child(ren) stress all the positives, review the comments, the goals and ways to support. Then
make a plan with your child(ren) for the third term. Success rarely happens without a goal and a plan! Also it
is important to remember that the report is information about progress, and serves to help guide next steps. If
you have concerns please be sure to discuss them with the teacher.

PINK SHIRT DAY – Wednesday, February 24th
“Bullying Stops Here” Where did this statement come from? You may have heard this story:
WHY PINK? It originates from an incident that happened in September several years back, when two Nova
Scotia high school students organized a school protest in sympathy with a new grade 9 boy. The boy had
been bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school, thus the two students handed out pink shirts to all boys in the
school, making a non-violent statement that bullying will NOT be tolerated. If you want to read more about
“Pink Shirt Day”, you can visit www.pinkshirtday.ca
