Welcome to the
Half Moon Dragon Boat Festival!
We are very excited to bring the community together today to watch and
cheer on the dragon boat teams as they race each other on Half Moon
Lake. We look forward to enjoying a day of fun, camaraderie, teamwork
and community health, while also raising awareness of and support for
hospice care.
Dragon boat racing is a team sport where each boat is propelled by a
crew of 20 paddlers, a drummer and steer person. Just as teamwork is
important in dragon boat racing, a team is critical for providing hospice
care. Hospice provides whole-body care for people in the final stages of
life and helps patients live each day to the fullest. Working together with
patients and families, the hospice team includes doctors, nurses, social
workers, chaplains, volunteers and bereavement counselors. The Half
Moon Dragon Boat Festival celebrates the bravery of our patients, the
support of their loved ones and the dedication of the team.
Proceeds from the Half Moon Dragon Boat Festival will benefit hospice
care and help expand this service in our communities. With your
support, we can continue to provide comfort and care for the terminally
ill and their families, helping them find moments of joy, even during very
difficult times.

While the Half Moon Dragon Boat Festival
highlights teamwork, community and fun,
it also benefits hospice. Hospice provides
whole-body care for people in the final
stages of life and helps patients live each
day to the fullest.
We invite you to make a tribute in honor of
a friend or loved one. All tributes received
will benefit the hospice program at Mayo
Clinic Health System.
For a $20 donation, we will tie a burgundy
ribbon with the name of your loved one to
the Tribute Tree. After the Half Moon Dragon
Boat Festival is over, the Tribute Tree will be
planted in Barron, Wisconsin.
For a $50 donation, in addition to the
burgundy ribbon on the Tribute Tree, you
will receive a silver dragon charm donated
by Lasker Jewelers.
For a suggested donation of $5, you will
receive a flower donated by Chippewa
Valley Floral. The flower will be released
into the lake during the Remembrance
Ceremony at 2:15 p.m. in recognition and
honor of your loved one.
To honor a friend or loved one with a
