John P. Ringo. Marked for death. Went on a
5-day binge across Sulphurr Springs Valley.
Last seen riding alone toward Galeyville.
Buckskin Frank Leslie. One of Ringo’s
companions on the booze marathon.
Quarreled with Ringo en route. Last seen on
the trail looking for Ringo.
W. F. Claibourne. The third member of the
5-day drunken orgy through the Sulphur
Springs Valley. Would later accuse Frank
Leslie of killing Ringo.
John W. “Bill” Sanders. Passed Ringo at the
Lost Water. Met Frank Leslie an hour later on
the same road trying to overtake Ringo.
W. M. “Billy” Breakenridge. Claimed in his
memoir to have been the last person to see
Ringo alive, at South Pass, just after mid-day.
Henry A. Smith. He recalled, as a 12-yearold, hearing a lone gunshot in the nearby
wood, about 3:00p.m. July 13, 1882.
Fred J. Dodge. The Wells Fargo secret agent
admitted “riding in that part of the country
quite a little bit at that particular time”.
Wyatt S. Earp. Was supposedly in Colorado
when Ringo was killed. But he would confide
to friends in 1906 that he had “ended Ringo’s
career”.
John H. “Doc” Holliday. Also reported in
Colorado at the time. Tagged as Ringo’s killer
in two major (1990’s) Hollywood westerns.

This Year’s (2007) Schedule of Events
A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME HAPPENING IN TOMBSTONE
Two Perennial “good fun” groups have scheduleed their annual meetings in “The Town Too Tough To
Die” during the pre-Thanksgiving weekend. The Notorious Clanton Clan and the
Western History Symposium and Book Exposition will descend upon the
legendary mining camp November 14-18, 2007. And, as the saying goes, “LET
THE GAMES BEGIN!”
All kiding aside, the Clanton Clan’s charismatic leader Terry “Ike” Clanton will
wear two hats during the 4-day bash. He will routinely host his group’s activities
as described in these pages. On the other hand Terry will serve as the Western
History Symposium and Book Exposition’s Sergeant At Arms. All of which
action means the two conferences will combine forces. What a fantastic ending to
the year! Here follows the program of the 13th Annual Clanton Days Rendevous.
