SPECIAL METALS - THE ALLOY EXPERTS
OVER 100 YEARS OF INNOVATION
Extensive metallography studies were performed on AmberTech M99's ability to
create a Molecular Surface Modification, (MSM).
Two identical separate surfaces of Carbon steel were examined at 1000X
magnification. One surface of the Carbon Steel had been treated with
AmberTech M99, being applied and lightly worked in using 0000 steel wool. This
mechanical action process activates the MSM and simulates the process that
occurs within a machine. In mechanical applications this process is created
when moving parts are in motion during their operations. The other surface was
untreated. Both surfaces were examined with the same microscope at 100X,
500X and 1000X magnifications.
The images below are at 1000X magnification. Image 9162 is the untreated
surface. Image 9165 is the surface treated with AmberTech M99. Notice that
there is a difference between the two surfaces. MSM creates the difference.
This profound change prompted further testing by the metallurgist to determine
the mechanism and its character responsible for the change. That testing
determined that the MSM was unique and validated that there were no traces of
Chlorine or Sulfur present on the treated surface.
All industrial lubrication applications are under continual stress from impact and
the resultant metal-to-metal assault. Wear and damage will occur regardless of
variables such as water, oils, or grease in the environment. AmberTech M99 is
immediately activated as friction occurs and treatment of the metal surface at the
molecular level is initiated, creating the Molecular Surface Modification (MSM),
functionally changing the surface of the metal. During this treatment the carrier
oil or grease develops a more intimate, uniform, and reliable contact with the new
surface, producing a wider, slicker, smoother surface. This condition produces
continued levels of protection. Therefore, when impact and or friction occurs,
much of the detrimental forces are unable to attack the metal. This phenomenon
is evident in Image 9165. Notice that the surface has remained smooth and in
good condition.
Even when lubrication is not present, such as start up or lack of lubrication, metal
that has been treated with AmberTech M99 continues to exhibit a protected
state. The barrier established with AmberTech M99 also contains has an anticorrosion property. The surface of the metal becomes modified in such a way as
to inactivate sites for potential corrosion from rust, dirt, and other residues.
Image 9162 validates the significant wear caused by excessive heat due to
friction on untreated metal surface. This metal wear causes debris(metals) and
contaminates to flow into the oil. These contaminates are not always caught by
filtration, therefore, they remain as aggressive debris flowing within the oil, back
through the friction points, continuing to cause more damage and increased wear
on the metal surface. This is a continual process throughout the life of the
equipment.
THE conclusion, AmberTech M99, by modifying the metal at a molecular level;,
reduces friction, heat, and metal wear, therefore extending the life of the metal
surface/equipment.
