BIO
Thor Poulsen has spent the past thirty four years in the fire service including working as a
Firefighter, Operator, Suppression Captain, Haz-Mat Specialist, Acting Battalion Chief,
Training Officer, Hayward Fire Dept’s Public Education Officer, PIO and as Assistant
Fire Marshal. He also worked with the Disaster Preparedness Outreach Program and was
in charge of communication activities including the content for the City of Hayward
Disaster Preparedness website and CERT (Civilian Emergency Response Team) training
since 1987. In addition to these duties, he was also the media information liaison for
significant events involving fire department emergencies. Thor brings a wealth of
experience and employs a realistic approach as to what the fire department can deliver in
a timely format that enables the public knowledge of what to expect during a large scale
disaster.
