We are called by God’s grace to enlighten all people in Jesus Christ
From The Pastor
Happy New Year!
Well, 2015 is over and 2016 is here. And all I have to say is God is so good! As I reflect back on 2015 all I have to say is that our Lord and Savior has truly bless us. And I
truly echo the words of Paul in Ephesians 1:16-17: I have not stopped thanking God
for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in
your knowledge of God.
January 2016
As a church we've seen many wonderful things happen this year:
 Over 400 people worship with us on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (23.6%
increase from last year)
 24 children and 1 adult were welcome into our family through baptism!

We welcomed 20 new Member into our congregation
6 Young adults confirmed thief faith
Sunday School has grown
Bible Study has grown
The list could go on and on, and while there has been a lot of good, it hasn't been
without challenges. Specifically, we fell short of meeting our budget for this year. Currently, we are $7,742.64 short of our goal for the year. But even there, we find the
faithfulness of God, we took in $13,410.34 a 5.9% increase form 2014!

As we now prepare to begin another year at St. Luke I want you to think about something. Imagine if your home was filled not with windows, but with mirrors. You’d have
no natural light; no awareness of what is going on outside. Instead, you’d spend your
time looking at...yourself. And where would that leave you? The sad truth is that many
church have become churches of mirrors and not of window. Spending their energy,
time, money, and talents looking at themselves.

Christian Education
An old pastor friend of mine, once challenged his congregation to become a church of
windows and not of mirrors, and it’s my challenge for us in 2016. The life and mission
of Jesus was to be a window. He was sent as Savior of the entire world, and after His
death and resurrection, His great commission changes His Church to be a window into
the world with the saving power of the Gospel. To be focus on the world around, but
just within.
11:00 am Blended/Contemporary
Inside this issue:
So my pray for 2016 is that God continues to bring blessings to St. Luke, but let’s
share the blessing to the world around us. May we be a church of windows and go
beyond our walls and share the hope that changes every with our community, our region, our state, our nations, the world.

Weekly Contributions
Did you know that every
time you search on the
internet (and who
doesn’t do that a million
times a day?) you could
be earning a donation to
St. Luke? St. Luke presently has 381 good
searchers, who have
raised over $1,092.85 all
that searching adds up!
Simply go to
GoodSearch.com and
down load their search
tool. You search for St.
Luke, Cheektowaga NY
in their database and
pick that as your cause
to support. Every time
you use that search engine, money is set aside
for St. Luke. You can
also GoodShop and
many sites will make
donations based on a
percentage of your purchase price as well. The
tool bar will also show
you discounts and deals
you can get on those
participating websites,
so you can donate to St.
Luke and save at the
same time. You can
even track how much
you earn by going to the
GoodSearch web site.
So when you have to
search….make it a good
one and support St.
Luke at the same time.

Wednesday Night Bible Study
Christians— Pastor Schultz will be holding a
new bible study on Wednesday evenings in
January (January 6, 13, 20 and 27) in the
Fellowship area from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.
What does it mean to be a Christian? What
if believers today embodied the traits of the
early followers of Jesus? Could we change
the world? In the 4 week study we will answer the questions: What does it mean to
be a Christian? How do we, as followers of
Jesus, treat those who are outside the faith?
How do we as Christians, respond to each
other. Why do people love Jesus, but hate
His followers? Join us as we unpack what it
means to be a Christian. Questions?
Please talk to Pastor Phil. There is a sign
up sheet in the fellowship area.
Theme Tray Auction
It’s hard to believe, but plans are in the
worked for the 2016 Theme tray Auction,
which will be held on Saturday, April 9th.
Kim Spence it the Chair of the event and the
proceeds of the auction will be used to send
our St. Luke Children to Pioneer Camp, this
summer. I plan on this being a success so
those wishing to attend camp this summer,
may do so without cost. There is much to
do, and I need help in many areas. Just a
few of the jobs that are needed are TV raffle
ticket sellers, basket makers, delivering letters to frequently patronized businesses,
sign makers, ticket sales, kitchen help, basket runners and number callers. There will
be a sign up sheet located ont eh Fellowship Desk for these positions. If you have
any questions, please contact Kim Spence
(home phone 681-9939) or

LUTHERAN CHURCH EXTENSION FUND NEWS
The Young Investors Y.I. Stamp Program provides a fun
way for any young investor to get excited about saving money and helping build God's Kingdom! The program offers
stamps that can be purchased for $1 and can be placed in
an LCEF Stamp Book. Once the book is completed it is
worth $25 and can be sent to LCEF to begin an investment
account in the child's name with the parent as the custodian.
Stamps will be available for sale on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month between services. TJ Mudd serves as the
coordinator for this program and can be reached at 6751065.
SHARED BLESSINGS UPDATE - As of the end of November we are at 14.8% of the threshold just shy of the 15% needed. We have a total 59 investors of which 14 are in the Y.I.
Club. Shared Blessings is a program that we at St. Luke are able to participate in because we refinanced the loan we
have with LCEF. The new loan is now eligible for a rebate of loan interest.
If you have any questions regarding the LCEF Investment Products please contact me at 393-3670 or
[email protected].

Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things...Psalm 98:1
Happy 2016 everyone! May the year ahead be filled with God's blessings. If you are one to make resolutions, resolve
to pray more...worship more...share more...serve more...praise more...
Thanks to everyone who helped with the Christmas service project- we were able to deliver gifts to many people,
thanks to your generosity and hard work!
Check the bulletin for upcoming Youth and Family events- possible events include a family game night and spaghetti
