York Haven celebrated their school-wide reading achievement on Monday, May 23rd. Our year long reading theme was
Fizz, Boom, Read and boy did our students read. As a school the students read thousands of books and passed over 19,000
AR quizzes to earn a fun filled, scientific day. We had a guest scientist from the Franklin Institute in the morning to kick
off the fun. In the afternoon we had candy scientist teach us about acids and bases, the students learned about the states of
matter by exploring oobleck, they made color wheels and did several other experiments too. One of the favorite activities was when Mr. Ketterman and Mr. Donnelly conducted the soda and Mentos experiment for the students, talk
about fizzing! It was an awesome day.
Conewago Cubs read every day and tracked their titles. Each book title earned the students beads for their Celebration of
Reading necklace. Students in Mrs. Johnson's first grade counted their beads this week. Look at how many books they read
this year!
Miss Loughman's kindergarten class was presented with a Youth Activities Award by the Veterans of Foreign
Wars of the United States Auxiliary in recognition for supporting our veterans by writing them letters this
year.
Earlier this month York Haven Elementary School held their annual spring Yard Sale. Many parents, teachers,
