Year 2 Teddy
Bear Hospital
On the 26th of November the Year
2’s went to the Teddy Bear
Hospital! Each and every one of
them brought their favourite
teddy bear and had a very
enjoyable day. They did many
activities which taught them how
to treat your bear/patient when
they’re hurt.
Here are some of the activities:
 Looking at a real X-ray

Looking inside a teddy

“Finding out what to do if we
had to call 999”

Fixing a teddy’s broken
heart

Wearing crutches for fun
Arthur from 2.1 said, “I got a real
stethoscope and listened to my
heart.” and “We put blindfolds on
and someone put fruit in our
mouths and we had to guess what
it was – I got an apple.”
Many, many Year 2’s adored their
day out. The teddies did too. Here
are some quotes from the
children:
Arthur – “When my toy got home,
he had a broken arm, splinted rib
bones, a broken head and a sore
tummy.”

Year 1 Raptor
Foundation
Trip
On Wednesday 25th
September, Year 1 went on a
school trip to the Raptor
Foundation. The activities
they took part in included
feeding owls, dissected owl
pellets, investigated owls for
their topic and even got the
chance to sketch these
nocturnal raptors. Charlotte
(1.2 who fed an owl) thought
that “It was so exciting!”
They investigated other
raptors as well as owls to
help them with their topic
back at school.

running on their own and in
teams. They ran a distance of
around 1.5km. There were
four races: Year 5 boys, Year
5 girls, Year 6 boys and Year
6 girls.
Here are some quotes from
the runners:

World War II Day
On Friday 11th October, it was
World War II day. In the morning,
year 6 walked down to the hall,
dressed up as evacuees and went
to Brighton, on the train into the
countryside. Also, they drew the
belongings we brought, and wrote
about why they were special in
our new classroom. In the middle
of maths the air raid siren put on
our gas mask.
Later on, after lunch year 6 went
down to the hall and practiced
singing and dancing, to the
Chatanooga choo choo. They
made paper spitfires, and sewed
clothes with holes back together.
They also practised first aid by
wrapping bandages around other
people.
Then the parents came in, and
they talked about their work and
made posters for why women
should be able to work in
factories and fend for their
countries.

You can try really hard to win housepoints. Don't forget to put them up to
help your house win the trophy!
The Queen Edith International – Autumn 2013
If you're in Griffin your house captains are Ammar and Nina. If you're in
Pegasus your house captains are Sinead and Eshel. If you're in Phoenix
