Stammtisch News
February is our time to go crazy with all the
Karneval lovers in Brisbane. On 6 February we
will be holding our fifth Stammtisch Karneval
at the German Club and we expect it will be
colourful and loud as always.

We meet in the Club’s
Keller Bar every Tuesday
from 6.30pm.

The so-called ‘fifth season’ is celebrated before
Lent in all German regions with different
names. Adapting to the Brisbane culture all we
really want to give the Club members is some
silly season FUN! That means - costumes for
the keen ones, music and German Club
delicacies for everyone else and some great
entertainment from the resident muso Andrew.
Thanks to the German Club Committee,
German Consulate and Dart Club’s support,
and some generous raffle sponsors, this party
is non-profit and organised by the Stammtisch
Executive. There is some time and a lot of
love going into the event and it couldn’t be done
without the dancers, entertainers and MC’s. View our
photos from the night on Facebook: facebook.com/
groups/stammtischkarneval/
The Stammtisch also celebrated Christmas 2015 with a
full house exchanging quirky secret ‘trash Santa’ gifts
in December, called Schrottwichteln. I am grateful for
my secret Santa who gave me a Wuerth wall calendar
with some half-dressed men which, I must say, I enjoy
looking at daily above my PC. The end of year party
rang in the festive season where camping on Fraser,
and snowy German winter holidays gave people a time
-out. As of February we are back with our monthly
catch-ups in the Keller and we’re always keen to see
new faces.

Dear Music Lovers,
Hello and welcome back dear
Choristers to another fun-filled
year of excitement and Music.
We will be having a little party to
welcome back everyone who was
on holidays or the sick list last
year.
Anne Ambrose celebrated her
75th Birthday on 2 January 2016.
Other Birthdays in January were:
Paul Kennedy (14th); Marinela
Radanovic (14th) and Lucille
Kuster (17th). Lorraine Keller will
be celebrating her Birthday on our
first night back on 2 February,
so don’t forget to bring a plate
of nibblies along!
There are still some members
on the sick list and we wish
them a speedy recovery.
The annual Christmas Concert
on 6 December 2015 was a
great success, booked out as
usual, and everyone had a
terrific time.
We are still looking for new
singers to join our merry little
group.
Our globe-trotters Michael and
Regina should be back by now
with lots of exciting news to
tell. Our Choir Master Leo is
already plotting a new program
for our July Concert with lots
of new songs to sing.
