“The beautiful spring came; and when Nature
resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to
revive also.” -Harriet Ann Jacobs
Spring is a time for renewal and rebirth, Creative Wellness has
blossomed into a larger space to better serve our patients.
Don’t worry, we aren’t moving very far. Our new building is
still in the Asher Court complex, just across the parking lot
from our old office in Suite 200. We are expanding from one
chiropractor room to four, adding a second acupuncture
room and increasing the number of massage rooms from 10
to 15. To further enhance our growth we have added a third
chiropractor and a second acupuncturist to the staff, as well
as several new Massage Therapists (MTs).
Needles as fine as a strand of hair
Try acupuncture to help with those pesky allergies, or maybe
to finally kick that habit you’ve been working on eliminating.
Acupuncture relieves pain, improves circulation, and eases
stress. It has also been proven successful for smoking cessation
and for combating substance abuse. Achieving complete wellbeing does not just involve the body, but also the mind and
spirit. Acupuncture can also treat psychological issues such as
depression including depressive neurosis and post traumatic
stress disorder.
The setting where one experiences a healing treatment is
very important to the overall sense of well-being. We want our
patients to start feeling relaxed the moment they walk in the
door, anticipating the healing treatment they will soon receive.
You will smell the subtle fresh herbal scents of the massage oils,
you’ll see light colors designed to calm the senses, you’ll hear
the gentle sound of the water fall, and you’ll start to unwind. The
contemporary architectural features are designed to transport
you and enhance your overall experience. When your body is
fully relaxed, therapeutic treatments will have greater effects on
your body.
There is more than one way to correct posture
Book a chiropractic appointment to start the process of living
pain free and correcting bad posture. According to chiropractic
medicine, the spine is the foundation of good health.
Misalignments ultimately lead to health issues such as back
and neck pain, digestive disorders, TMJ, headaches, insomnia,
hyperactivity, and more. Chiropractic medicine is a drug-free,
alterative approach to health and seeks to affect the body’s own
self-healing properties.
While waiting, you can enjoy an assortment of herbal teas, listen
to soft music and wander through our reorganized reception
area and shop for your favorite health products. We carry many
local products such as bath bombs from Bath Salt Creations,
homeopathic remedies, and Earth Werkes aromatherapy
products created by our very own Susan Stuhr.
Spring is also a time for trying new things. If you have been
working hard on your New Year’s resolution, now is a great time
to enhance your efforts for greater results.
Do you want to reduce the stress in your life?
Get a massage to ease the knots in your muscles and relieve
stress. Or try a different type of massage such as Thai Massage,
which is more energizing and rigorous than more classic forms
of massage. Thai massage is also called Yoga massage and
uses a series of yoga-like stretches and is done fully clothed.
Ashiatsu Massage is also a unique experience where the
therapist uses overhead parallel bars to balance, while applying
gliding strokes of the feet to pressure points along the spine
providing an amazing deep tissue experience.
Move your body in a new way
Check out that class that you have always wanted to try and
add something new to your workout. Creative Wellness has a
variety of classes that appeal to all ages and skill levels, such
as Beginning and Intermediate Tai Chi, NIA, Meditation and
Relaxation, Pilates, Yoga, Infant and Partner massage, and Chilel
Qigong. Current class information can be found in this newsletter
and on our website.
Even though Creative Wellness is moving and expanding, our
professional integrity and commitment to our patients’ health
and well-being is still our number one priority, as it has been
for the past twenty-years. Massage therapists, acupuncturists
and chiropractors are trained professionals who hold the same
or higher standards as any medical profession in regards
to patient/caregiver confidentiality. Not only is it their job to
perform healing work, it is also their responsibility to make you
feel comfortable and relaxed.
Make new friends this spring and join us on Facebook and be the
first to receive many updates and specials.
However you choose to spend this spring, we wish you good
health and well-being.

NEW Introduction to The Rossiter System
Instructor: Kathleen Strauch, Certified Advanced Rolfer
Richard Rossiter is a Certified Advanced Rolfer who developed his own
system of facilitated stretching, working with a partner on an exercise mat
on the floor. The person working uses his or her feet to gradually apply
pressure to the partner. Both partners remain fully clothed except for shoes.
Through The Rossiter System, many companies have cut their worker’s
compensation costs for low back pain, arm pain, shoulder pain and knee
pain. Learn some of these techniques and become a “pain slayer” in your
own home. Bring an exercise mat if possible.

Sleep Better This Spring
While the earth is waking up and coming alive it is still important
to get quality sleep every night so you can spring into action every
morning. Quality sleep can improve stress levels, relieve fatigue, and
improve mood and concentration levels. We have several products
at our center to enhance your sleep and increase your energy. Come
check out our pillows and look forward to a better night’s sleep!
Cervical support pillows can help with neck and upper back pain
and help reduce headaches. They may also help those suffering from
Sleep Apnea because of the position the throat and neck is in while
sleeping—the same goes for snoring! Several of our practitioners
recommend cervical support pillows to their clients who suffer from
upper body and neck pain.
We also have buckwheat hull filled pillows in both bolsters and
traditional bed pillows. The natural filling has many advantages over
conventional fiberfill, foam, or feather fillings. It conforms to the
exact contours of the head and neck providing a compliant passive
support. Plus, they come in many pretty colors.
Bolsters are long, narrow pillows used in a variety of positions for
additional support. Our own Dr. Ranes, D.C. recommends them.
Bolsters are my solution for customizing my
environment in a one-size-does-not-fit-allworld. I daily use a combination of lap, leg
and foot bolsters when spending prolonged
periods on a computer, watching movies, or
traveling, as the driver or the passenger. If I
do not, my shoulders burn, my back aches
and my hands tingle…all common symptoms
that I hear complaints of from my patients.
Creative Wellness has evening hours 6 days a week for a
relaxing massage to also help improve your sleep quality.
A healthier you is only one appointment away.
Creative Wellness is Moving!
This month Creative Wellness is expanding our services
and moving to a larger center. While we are only moving
across the parking lot (to the old ENT building), it will feel
like you are entering a new world of wellness. We have
increased our number of treatment rooms and enhanced
the atmosphere to encompass a whole well-being
experience. Our new address is 2045 Abbot Road.

In San Diego, while working on her degree, Robyn worked
in a variety of clinical settings, including community clinics
and homeless shelters. She worked with women whom were
mandated by the court system to attend a detox program
and additionally helped Schizophrenic patients manage their
illness and reduce the number of times they needed to be
hospitalized. Robyn also worked with homeless Vets with
PTSD and substance abuse issues.
Employee Feature
Robyn Grieve
Current Doctoral fellow with Pacific College of
Oriental Medicine (PCOM) for Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine (DAOM), yoga teacher since
1999 and former massage therapist.
Robyn was recently hired in March as one the newest
members of the Creative Wellness family. She is an
experienced Acupuncturist with a clinical emphasis in
emotional issues such as weight loss, depression, Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), stress, chronic pain,
and pediatrics.
Robyn always knew she wanted to be an acupuncturist and
originally planned to specialize in pain and sports injuries.
Then, in clinic, she helped treat a patient managing bi-polar
symptoms with acupuncture. She says it completely changed
her direction of study. “I believe that each of us has the
potential to heal and live an authentic life. I feel my role is to
create a safe nurturing space so that the patient can tap into
that place of wellness and bring it into their daily lives.”
Robyn grew up just north of East Lansing and is happy to
have moved back home to be with friends and family.
Our acupuncturists offer a 15 minute complementary phone
consultation to evaluate your needs. Robyn will be happy to
talk with you about a treatment program to start you on your
way to better well-being.
