is proud to announce the
NEWSLETTER – SPRING 2007
The eleventh annual All-Star
Sports Week returns to Huntsville
this year with several exciting
additions. The North-South senior
football game returns this summer
and will be played at Louis Crews
Stadium, Alabama A&M University,
on Friday, July 13, at 7:00 p.m.
The Urology Centers of Alabama
in Birmingham has offered to do
free prostate screening this year
on Thursday, July 12, at the Von
Braun Center. There will be information on this at registration.
In March, the AHSAA decided to
adopt the National Athletic Testing
System (NATS). The Alabama High
School Athletic Directors and
Coaches Association and the
Alabama Football Coaches
Association will conduct the first
statewide test for our athletes on
July 20 in Prattville. Information
can be found on the AHSAA website for registration.
As always, the Athletic Directors
and Principals sessions will be
very informative and useful for
both the newly hired and the vet-
erans. There will be several interactive sessions that will provide
each of you the opportunity to ask
questions and share viewpoints
and ideas on various topics. We
will again offer leadership training
courses on Tuesday and Thursday.
Our committees have once again
secured nationally recognized
speakers for clinics in nine indi-
vidual sports. These clinics will
provide a special opportunity for
you to increase your knowledge
and share ideas with your peers.
As you can see, a lot will be
going on this summer and we
hope that you will join us for these
exciting events. Register early and
come be a part of this special
event in Huntsville

RULES CLINICS MANDATORY FOR HEAD COACHES
All head coaches must attend a rules clinic in their sports prior to the
beginning of their sports’ seasons. This mandatory clinic is required of
all head coaches in football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball,
wrestling, and soccer. Coaches will not be required to take an exam
but must register with a photo ID in order to record their attendance.
A school will be fined $300 for each head coach that does not fulfill
this requirement. Coaches may attend one of the officials’ clinics at
various state sites. The rules clinics are included in the activities of the
All-Star Sports Week and the schedule is provided at the right. You
must register for coaching school to attend the rules clinics.
