BenQ Product Guide
January 2008
BenQ is one of the world's top producers of digital display products. When they entered the U.S. market
a number of years ago and Starin was introducing it to dealers, we used to get Ben Who? We no longer
get that, as the brand has become established. Early on, BenQ produced great value product, but
frankly like a lot of Chinese companies, they needed to better understand the U.S. business structure
and get their service/support act together. Unlike others, they learned and adjusted. There were some
rocky times as the company shot up fast.
Now, with Starin as the select AV channel distributor providing select pro products, BenQ has reorganized
and for 2 years has been managed by the best dealer advocate we could ask for. We are happy to
report in this guide just how poised BenQ is to service the range of professional applications you have.
DLP Technology
Video and graphics produced by DLP® technology are sharper because the DLP®
chip minimizes the gaps between pixels. Spaced less than one micron apart, its
mirrors create a smooth film-like image. Other technologies can sometimes
create an annoying grid of lines called "the screen-door effect".
Dust is everywhere.
In classrooms, lecture halls, labs, conference rooms and auditoriums...
Did you know LCD projectors require filters to keep dust out? These filters
must prevent possible degradation to the optics and LCD panels.
DLP projectors have sealed optics which do not require filters. The result? Lower maintenance needs which
typically translates to significantly lower operating costs. And lower maintenance means happier users. It’s
just one more reason why DLP technology found in BenQ projectors is the long-term, better investment.
Lasting color
The heart of DLP Technology is immune to "color
decay". Images below from a projector test* show
how LCD projectors loose their color integrity over
time while DLP projectors remain consistent.
• Page 2
LCD projectors typically require
cleaning filters every 100-300
hours and changing at
2000 hours. Clogged filters
overheat the unit and lead to
shorter lamp life and stressed
components. We can illustrate
how LCD will cost time and
money over your projector’s life.

SP870
5000
BenQ’s SP870 projector is the brightest choice for high impact, with a powerful 5000 lumen output, that allows a
good degree of ambient light without detracting from the viewing experience. A dark room might be good for
watching a movie, but it doesn’t work so well for most occasions where participants need to take notes or read
pages. The SP870 is designed for just such situations, rendering a spectacularly vivid and richly colored picture.
It’ll shine for large hall screens where you disperse the 5000 lumens over a significant surface area.

SP831
The new BenQ wide screen projector series, including the SP 831 and SP 830, is great for presentations from
new & emerging widescreen data display, as well as video. With brightness to spare at 4,000 stunning ANSI
lumens, the WXGA projectors will suit any auditorium, sanctuary or other sizable meeting space. 2D Digital
keystoning helps compensate for the projector placement being slightly off screen center on both the horizontal
and vertical planes.

MP771
3000
Wish you could have a large-screen display, but don't think the space you have in mind is large enough? Then
the BenQ MP771 is your small-space solution. That's because this premium, high-brightness XGA projector has
an amazing short-throw ratio, enabling large-screen projection from a close range. It's perfect for places like
partition rooms, small conference rooms, lecture halls, a rear-screen projection space or where physical layout
forces the projector to be up close to the screen. How about where you do not want to subject the presenter to
working in front of the projector’s glaring light beam? The light beam angles down more over the presenter’s
head.

Extremely short throw 100” from 4.5’
Enhanced 6 segment Color wheel

Nigel B
Nigel B offers a one-of-the kind solution for dealing with the audio aspect of projector installations. The audio
built into projectors is not sufficient for conference/training room applications. The Nigel B solution puts the
amplifier on the projector mounting pole. This keeps unbalanced audio lines short, speaker cable runs short and
the audio is now controlled from the projector with the built-in projector volume and switching facilities. Nigel B
amplifiers offer outstanding audio specifications.
