E ARE MOVING INTO A PIVOTAL SEASON. Regardless of the outcome, it will be a Fall
of historic proportions. Most have come to grips with the consequences of the
Mayan Calendar and its “reboot,” but even the most alert have still not quite come
to a firm grasp of the gravity of the coming national elections. We have seen and
heard reports that have a tendency to overwhelm. That could
be what they were meant to do. Nothing so inspires one to

acles of God through history that have inspired the basic core
beliefs and spiritual principles we are charged before Him to
protect. The outcome of this struggle is not our concern. It is God’s. But we are not called
to inactivity. For our children and our God we contend to protect what He has given us.
Much has been said of Christopher Columbus, good and bad, but there are details important to understand. Whether he followed perfectly or not, it is clear that God led the way.
Understanding the real explorer and his motivations give clarity to the many ways God
works behind the scenes to accomplish His promises in
the most difficult of times.
This is a serious season approaching. Let us treat it
as such. Many will be seeking answers to the basic
questions of life and liberty. We must be prepared and
diligent to represent the One we serve. May God give
you the gift of focus and perseverance.

THE SEVEN MYTHS OF

schatology is the “Study of the Last Things.” [Or, for many, it is “the Last Thing Studied.”] It is the nemesis of many pastors since it also requires a comprehensive grasp of
the “whole counsel of God.” And, as a result, our “myths of eschatology” might as
well be labeled “pitfalls in eschatology.”
The Epistemological Cycle
Epistemology is the study of knowledge, its scope and its limits. We discover that if we
know one’s hermeneutics (theory of interpretation), we will be able to predict the eschatology that will result. If one is willing to allegorize the Biblical text, he will tend towards the

Seven Pitfalls in Eschatology
We’ll use precision (specificity) as a discriminator among some of
the alternative viewpoints. There are many good scholars who disagree
with these viewpoints, but these may still prove useful to both the novice as well as the diligent student. (We don’t insist on these views, but
we are prepared to explain why we hold them.)
1) The Rapture?
This, of course, is the most preposterous doctrine in Christianity.
(We are amiss if we don’t acknowledge the strangeness of this peculiar
belief.) The only thing it has going for it is that it is very clearly described in the Scriptures.2 (Yes, the term “rapture” does appear in your
Bible if you are using a Latin Bible.3 )
Expanding on this particular controversy in this brief summary
would be out of place; however, we can’t resist suggesting a review of

several Old Testament references also,

2) Does the Church Go
Through the Tribulation?
This, too, is a militantly held
perspective by many. For a number
of reasons, this requires some architectural gymnastics to support. We
lean to the view that there is a sense in
which God’s dealing with Israel and
the Church appears to be mutually
exclusive. When four disciples solicited a confidential insider’s briefing
on Jesus’ return,5 He pointed them to
Daniel’s “Seventy Week” Prophecy as
the key to it all.6
Galaxy M51
The Seventieth Week of Daniel is the most documented segment of
time in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. (And the “Great Tribulation” is
3½ years (not 7) and is labeled as such by the Lord Himself.7
The Harpazo is a prerequisite to the revealing of the Coming World Leader.8 And this
leader is the preamble to the event that triggers the Great Tribulation.9
3) Is There a Literal Millennium?
This is a major watershed in any eschatological perspective. Most denominational
views—which trace back to the Reformation—are “Amillennial,” from Origen’s influence
on Augustine and the resulting eschatological posture encouraged by the politics of the 3rd
century. However, this viewpoint denies the literal application of over 1800 allusions in the
Old Testament and over 300 in the New, and for which one must rely heavily on allegorical
gymnastics. (There is a proverb in the data processing industry: “If you torture the data long
enough, it will confess to anything!”) This also sets the stage for the tragic heresy of Pitfall #4.
4) Does the Church Replace Israel?
“Replacement Theology” is among the most injurious and hateful of the list. Israel

and the Church have different origins and distinctive
destinies. The rise of anti-Semitism in the early church
is a real shock to anyone who has studied it. It leads to
unending tragedies for the Jews, and it is also tragic for
the Church, as it lost the insights from its Jewish roots.
Furthermore, one can not only trace the abuses of
anti-Semitism from Augustine to Auschwitz, it is on
the rise again today. (And this will be a major determinant toward the final climax known as Armageddon.10)

5) What Ever Happened to the Davidic
Covenant?
Another by-product of Pitfalls #3 and #4 is the virtual ignoring of the Davidic
Covenant. There are four unconditional covenants in the Scriptures: a) the Abrahamic
Covenant,11 b) the Land Covenant,12 c) the Davidic Covenant,13 and d) the Everlasting
Covenant,14 from which the New Testament gets its name.
Each of these is under attack: the Abrahamic Covenant is under attack by the whole
world. All anti-Semitism is an attack on this foundational covenant.

7) (Under “Grace”), Does Behavior Matter?
This, along with #6, highlights the foundational value of a
“Kingdom Perspective.” (Most Christians have no idea what they
are praying for in the “Lord’s Prayer”: “Thy Kingdom Come.”
Nothing is more certain. And yet, what does this mean?)
The Christians in China espouse a remarkable perspective.
They believe they are presently in what they call “the Kingdom
of Preparation.” What we call “the Millennium,” they call “the
Kingdom of Inheritance.” They believe their responsibilities and

Are we currently living in the Last Days?
Many people are becoming increasingly conscious that we
are entering a unique phase of human history. Some are terrified. Some are predicting cosmic doom on the near horizon.
Others are making astonishing predictions. What does the
Bible really say?
Eschatology (the Study of “Last Things”) is among the most
challenging avenues of study, even for the most sophisticated.

T HAS BEEN COMMONLY TAUGHT THAT COLUMBUS WAS AN ITALIAN EXPLORER WHOSE
PURPOSE WAS TO ENRICH THE SPANISH MONARCHS WITH GOLD AND SPICES FROM THE
ORIENT. BUT MOST SCHOLARS HAVE IGNORED FOR CENTURIES HIS BURNING DESIRE TO FREE
JERUSALEM FROM MUSLIM CONTROL
It seems everyone claims him. In Spain he is Cristóbal Colón, the son of Domingo
Colón, a wool trader. As an Italian son he is known as Cristoforo Colombo, born to Domenico Colombo, a tower sentinel in Genoa. To us here in America he is Christopher Columbus, explorer/founder and this month marks 520 years since he set sail into history.
Although the story of his accomplishments as told by history teachers to young students
is simple, his real life story is anything but simple. Everything is in question—the location
of his birth, his motives, and even who financed his efforts. Only recently has research presented more clarity on the historical context of these pivotal events.
Whether Christopher was Spanish or whether he was born in Spain, moved to Italy, and
then returned back to Spain once again, it is clear that he had access to King Ferdinand II of
Aragon and Queen Isabella of Castile, whose marriage had reunited Spain after the Muslim
invasions.
It has been commonly taught that Columbus was an Italian explorer whose purpose was

to enrich the Spanish monarchs with gold and spices from the Orient.
But most scholars have ignored for centuries his burning desire to free
Jerusalem from Muslim control.
A Second Homeland
Although their immigration into Europe technically started with
the destruction of Jerusalem in a.d. 70 and the Diaspora it initiated,
Jews had already begun to settle on the Iberian (Spanish-Portuguese)
Peninsula centuries before Christ. From about the first century a.d.
Spanish Jews, called Sephardim (from the Hebrew for the Iberian peninsula “Sepharad”), were making pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Paul even
spoke of the need for missionary work among the Jews of Spain.
After about a.d. 200, Spain became and remained a second Jewish
homeland for well over a millennia. So deeply woven into the fabric
of Spain are the Jews that neither history can be fully studied without
considering the influence of the other.
Conversos and Marranos
The Jews in Spain became the target of pogroms and religious
persecution. Many were forced to renounce Judaism and embrace
Catholicism. These were known as Conversos, or converts. Others,
Marranos, feigned conversion, practicing Catholicism outwardly while
remaining Jews inwardly. Marranos has two meanings in Spanish: “the

In response to a petition to Rome to introduce the Inquisition and
find a final solution to their Jewish Problem, in 1487 Spain obtained a
Papal Bull. The introduction of the Inquisition was motivated by the
greed of King Ferdinand in his attempt to seize all the power and wealth
in Spain. It was an instrument of avarice and political absolutism. Four
years later, tens of thousands of Jews, Marranos, and even Conversos were suffering under the
Spanish Inquisition.
Many thousands of Marranos, and also Conversos, were tortured to obtain the names
of friends and family members, who were paraded and then tied to stakes and burned alive.

Historical Evidence
Recently, a number of Spanish
scholars have concluded that Columbus was a Marrano, whose survival depended upon the secrecy of
his faith. Columbus, who couldn’t
speak Italian, while signing his last
will and testament made several curious provisions.
Among them were:
1) To tithe one-tenth of his income to the poor;
2) To provide a dowry for poor girls (both Jewish customs);
3) To give a certain amount of money to a Jew who lived at the entrance of the Lisbon
Jewish Quarter;

4) Also, Columbus, on those documents, used a triwas originally

Estelle Irizarry, a linguistics professor at Georgetown

religious man whose purpose was to sail to Asia to obtain gold with which to finance a
crusade to take back Jerusalem and rebuild the Jew’s Holy Temple. It was believed that the
Messiah would not come back until the Temple was re-established.
Time to Get Out
While all this was occurring, the persecution of the Jews through the Inquisition was
coming to a head. The last remaining territory in Spain that had not been reunited fell on
January 2, 1492. Columbus had been promised by the Crown that once this took place he
would be free to make his voyage to find a new route to the Orient. On March 31, 1492,
the Inquisitor General, Tomas de
Torquemada, issued the Edit of Expulsion. The deadline for Jews

While the physical terrorist threat is still as dangerous a presence in the world as it was

In the following days, while people were waiting to
see if possible covert attacks on the plants were coming,
all communications between the plant’s computers and
the outside world were cut. A week later, Iran announced
that the computers running the power plant were infected
with a virus. (One month later, Iran halted the production
of enriched uranium from its centrifuges citing “technical
problems” after 1,000 centrifuges were damaged.)
Subject Matter Experts (SME) in the area of computer controls believed that the
nuclear plant had been infected with a virus called “Stuxnet,” a computer program that was
created to attack only industrial computers in Iran.
The SMEs were proved to be correct. Israel, working in concert with defense laboratories in the United States, had created Stuxnet. As Israel is prone to do, they even left their
calling card. Hidden deep within the code are two directory file names, “myrtus” and “guava,”3 which could be construed to be an allusion to Queen Esther, who intervened to save

Cyberwar Game Changer
Stuxnet was a game changer in cyberwarfare. For the
first time, a computer virus was targeted not only for a specific type of computer, but a type of computer that was in
a particular region of the world running specific software.
Even after the computers were disconnected from the
Internet, they were still vulnerable. The virus was transmitted by a USB or “jump” drive.
(These drives are commonly used to back up data and install updates on industrial computers.)

RISE OF ISLAM
Mary Gehl, Executive Analyst
THE TRUTH OF TAQIYYA
IN DIRECT OPPOSITION TO THE CONCEPT OF BIBLICAL TRUTH IS THE CONCEPT
OF ISLAMIC TAQIYYA, WHICH, IN ISLAM, IS GENERALLY KNOWN AS “LYING FOR
THE FAITH.”
O
n the eve of Jesus’ crucifixion, He and Pontius Pilate engaged in a
conversation that begged the question still being asked today—
What is truth? John 18:37-38 describes the scene:
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou
sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I
into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that
is of the truth heareth my voice. Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?...
In direct opposition to the concept of Biblical truth is the concept
of Islamic taqiyya.
A March 2012 public relations campaign to teach America about
Shari’a law ignited a new round of dialogue regarding the truth of Islamic
taqiyya. The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), a New York-based
group, is planning to spend $3 million on its “Defending Religious Freedom” campaign. The effort includes billboards, TV, and radio ads in 25
major cities—including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Additionally, Muslim academics and activists are holding town hall meetings and
seminars on university campuses in an effort to slow the two-year progress
of state legislation banning Shari’a law in the U.S.

are two basic uses of taqiyya: 1) disavowing one’s religious identity during fear of persecution
(Shi’a Muslims vs. Sunni Muslims), and 2) active deceit during jihad against the realm of
unbelief (Dar al-Islam vs. Dar al-Harb). This form of deceit is grounded in Islamic doctrine and is often depicted as being equal to, or superior to, other military virtues such as
courage, fortitude, or self-sacrifice.
Former Islamic studies professor at the American University of Beirut, Sami Makarem,
wrote in his book, At-Taqiyya fi’l-Islam (Dissimulation in Islam):
Taqiyya is of fundamental importance in Islam. Practically every Islamic sect agrees to it and
practices it. We can go so far as to say that the practice of taqiyya is mainstream in Islam, and
that those few sects not practicing it diverge from the mainstream. Taqiyya is very prevalent
in Islamic politics, especially in the modern era.
His book clearly reveals the ubiquity and broad applicability of taqiyya within Islam.
Within Shari’a—the body of legal rulings that defines the appropriate behavior of Muslims
in all circumstances—deception is not only permitted in

lie in order to preserve themselves because of verses in the
Qur’an that forbid Muslims from being instrumental in their own deaths.
The writings of Qur’anic scholars detail the history of the authorization and use of
Taqiyya. Sura 3:28 is used most often as the verse that sanctions deception towards nonMuslims:
Let believers [Muslims] not take infidels [non-Muslims] for friends and allies instead of
believers. Whoever does this shall have no relationship left with God—unless you but guard
yourselves against them, taking precautions.
In his Qur’an commentary, Muhammad ibn jarir al-Tabari clarifies verse 3:28 as follows:

Some Qur’anic scholars extended taqiyya to cover deeds.
Abu ‘Abdullah al-Qurtubi (1214-73) and Muhyi ‘d-Din ibn alArabi (1165-1240) supported bowing down and worshiping idols
and crosses, offering false testimony, and exposing the weaknesses
of fellow Muslims to the infidel enemy. Anything short of actually killing a Muslim is deemed acceptable: “Taqiyya, even if committed without duress, does not lead to a state of infidelity, even if

Taqiyya and Islamic Public Relations
As this article is being written, two U.S. states have banned the practice of Shari’a law,
twelve are in the process of drafting and approving legislation, and three have proposed legislation that failed to pass. For Islamic proponents of Shari’a in America, the battleground has
been taken to a new level—the American billboard.

Shari’a
literally means
“the path to a
watering hole.”
Shari’a is the
law of the Qur’an that is comprised of five main branches: adab (behavior, morals and manners), ibadah (ritual worship), I’tiqadat (beliefs), mu’amalat (transactions and contracts), and
‘uqubat (punishments).
According to its proponents, these branches of Shari’a combine to create a society based
on “justice, pluralism and equity for every member of society.” They would like for us to
believe that Shari’a forbids that it be imposed on any unwilling person. In fact, they propose that the Prophet Muhammad himself demonstrated that Shari’a may only be applied if
people willingly apply it to themselves—never through forced government implementation.
Shari’a
One of the primary reasons for the backlash against the practice of Shari’a in America
is the growing public awareness of honor killings. Human Rights Watch defines honor killings:
Honor killings are acts of vengeance, usually death, committed by male family members
against female family members, who are held to have brought dishonor upon the family. A
woman can be targeted by individuals within her family for a variety of reasons, including:
refusing to enter into an arranged marriage, being the victim of a sexual assault, seeking a
divorce—even from an abusive husband—or (allegedly) committing adultery. The mere
perception that a woman has behaved in a way that “dishonors” her family is sufficient to
trigger an attack on her life.

ORDER
In her 2009 Middle East Quarterly article, Phyllis Chesler argues that the U.S. is far behind Europe in acknowledging that honor killings are a special form of domestic violence—
a form of violence in which the perpetrators are protected by Shari’a law. While the 8th
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states there shall be no “cruel and unusual punishments inflicted,” the Qur’an states:
• Sura 5:38 – Cut off the hands of thieves, whether they are male
or female, as punishment for what they have done—a deterrent from
Allah.
• Sura 24:2 – A raped woman is punished with the man: The
woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication, flog each of them
with 100 stripes.
The complexities and the deceit of the Islamic Circle of North
America’s Defending Religious Freedom campaign are meant to assuage
fears of Islam and Shari’a. However, even the name of the campaign
denies the truth. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states
that “Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion,” yet Mohammed said, “Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill
him.” (Hadith Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 9, Book 84, No. 57)
In his book, What Every American Needs to Know About the
Qur’an: A History of Islam & the United States, William J. Federer
presents an exhaustive study of the truth of taqiyya in U.S.-Islam relations. In contrast to the First Amendment Federer states, “Islamic law
(Shari’a) relegates non-Muslims to ‘dhimmi’ status, where they are not
to propagate their customs amongst Muslims and cannot display a
Cross or Star of David.”
Truth
Sadly, in America, it does not matter if the “public relations campaign” is for the Islamic implementation of Shari’a law or the demoralizing implementation of humanism in every aspect of daily life, the result
is the same—a life without the God-given freedoms and foundations
established on our shores over two centuries ago.

Christ (2 Corinthians 12:9). Weakness (or yielding to Him) is the prerequisite for this kind of divine
power.
A real disciple is always concerned with the personal application of truth first. Then he
becomes willing to share what he has learned. “For I will not dare to speak of any of those
things which Christ hath not wrought by me [first], to make the Gentiles obedient, by word
and deed” (Romans 15:18). God’s truth must first be personalized in a disciple’s life, before it
can be shared.
It’s one thing to know God’s principles in your head, but it’s

Christ told us that our mission is to go out and make disciples “partaken of
Christ,” meanof all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and
ing he is living

told us in His Word (Matthew 28:18–20). Not just talking to them Christ’s Life,
about the gospel, but actually showing them how to live it.

Characteristics of a True Disciple
His power.
Let’s contrast the characteristics of a true disciple or a faithful Christian with a nominal
or unfaithful Christian. See if you can identify yourself as we describe these two types of believers.
A spiritual or a faithful Christian is, as we said, a person who not only has been born
again, but who is also abiding in and walking by the power of the Holy Spirit, thereby producing fruit (Galatians 5:22; John 15:2, 5, 8). He has allowed God to rein in his own emotions and his own will, so that his works are done through God’s empowering, not the flesh
(1 Peter 1:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23). His motive for speaking, his strength for working, and
his reason for living is simply the Love of God (1 Timothy 1:5). He is more concerned about
what Christ thinks of him, than what others think. Christ’s presence in this believer brings
about “a peace that passes all understanding” (John 16:33; 2 Corinthians 2:14).
Some of the main characteristics that this spiritual Christian should display are presented in Galatians 5:22. He should be filled with “the fruit of the Spirit” as evidenced by Love
(Agape), joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. These
characteristics all manifest themselves in humility (Luke 14:11).

Do any of these characteristics describe you?
If they do, then 2 Peter 1:11 says, “...ye shall never fall. For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ.”
Characteristics of a Carnal (or Secular or Nominal) Christian
Conversely, a “carnal, unfaithful or nominal Christian” is one in whom the flesh is in
control, not the Spirit of God (Hebrews 5:12–13). He is a saved believer, but he loves the
world and himself more than he loves Christ. And, thus, he operates out of his own desires
rather than God’s will. He simply does not let God rein in his own thoughts and emotions.
He can’t, because the Spirit of God is quenched in Him. Thus there is no life transformation
in his soul (Romans 12:1–2), no Agape Love, no resurrection power, and no fruit (Romans
7:22–24; Galatians 5:17).
This type of carnal Christian professes to be born-again, and yet has not allowed the
Cross to slay his self-life ( 2 Timothy 3:5). He claims to know God, but in truth he actually
denies Him by the way he lives. Galatians 5:19-21 tells us that those who live by the flesh
will not inherit the coming kingdom.

Instead of overcoming the flesh, the world, and the enemy by the power of God, unfaithful Christians have been overtaken by them. The flesh rules over them, the world has a
hold on them, and the enemy has acquired an entrance in them.
Some of the characteristics that a carnal and unfaithful Christian might display are a
bad temper, anger, fretting, murmuring, pride, selfishness, malice, worldliness, evil speaking,
bitterness, jealousy, envy, quarrelling and hatred. They also portray self-confidence, selfcenteredness, self-exultation, self-reliance, self-importance, self-love, self-ambition and pride.
On the other end of the spectrum, they can also be totally consumed with themselves through
self-pity, self-condemnation, and self-doubt. Either way, they are pridefully consumed with
themselves and not God (Romans 7:18; 1 John 2:16).
A carnal Christian often makes himself the center of attention and values his own will
above God’s. He is a “soulish” Christian, which means his self-life rules. He can do righteous
deeds and do them well. But, Scripture tells us that any good deed that the flesh does is an
5
abomination in the sight of God.
Carnal Christians say one thing, but often do another. They are also often talkative and
flippant, making themselves the center of attention. They tend to use many words and have
the attitude that they are more advanced than others. As a result they are often fault finders
and judgmental. Working for the Lord is of the utmost importance to them; however, they
feel that everything must be done in a hurry and all must be done to attain the glory for
themselves. They do not wait on the Lord for His direction and His answers. Thus, they walk by sight not by

of God.
Many carnal believers try to satisfy their curiosity by studying. They believe that knowing something
mentally is the same thing as possessing it experientially. Thus, they are often double-minded, living two lives. They have an abundance of acquired knowledge, but very little Spiritrevealed knowledge. They don’t realize that increased spiritual head knowledge can often become
a trap. Head knowledge can strengthen our carnality and deceive us into thinking we are
spiritual. The danger is that because God’s Spirit is suppressed, the soulish and bodily realm

drunkenness, revelings, and the like.” (Galatians 5:19–21) Obviously they do not display
the fruit of the Spirit (Hebrews 5:12–13). They “deny” Christ through their actions (Matthew 10:33). There’s no Agape Love coming from their lives, no supernatural power being
displayed, and no godly wisdom being shared. “Whoever shall deny Me before men, him
will I also deny before my Father” (Matthew 10:33).
Dangers of Being Carnal or Lukewarm
It is impossible for us to really know who is carnal and who is spiritual. Only God
knows the truth. Only He knows our hearts. We are not to judge! That’s God’s business at
the Bema Seat. But, we are told to be “fruit pickers.” Our lives will either show forth the
fruit of the Spirit manifested by God’s Love or we will display rotten fruit showing forth
our carnality. (Luke 8:14)
The danger of being carnal is that we can be born-again by God’s Spirit (justified) and
yet spend 90 percent of our time in the soulish or fleshly realm. If this is the case, our ministry, our teaching, and our preaching will not produce any real godly fruit. “It is the Spirit
that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing.” (John 6:63)
Carnal Christians not only quench the power of God from coming forth through them,
thereby hindering their own sanctification, they also hinder salvation in others. They give a
false impression of what a true Christian is really like. They can actually become stumbling
blocks to passing along the true gospel because nonbelievers look at them and say, “Hey! If
that’s a Christian, I want no part of it.”

Unfortunately we were stumbling blocks for our children years ago when we were going
through our own marital trials. We were all smiles when we were out in public, but behind
closed doors we argued, screamed, and yelled at each other. Sadly, our children experienced
this and said to us, “Why would we want what you

families, our friends,
If we want the gospel to be passed on, especially to
our families, our friends, and our associates, we must
and our associates, we
become spiritual Christians. There’s no longer such a
must become spiritual
thing as a “fence-sitter Christian.” As we get closer to
Christians.
Christ’s coming, we’ll be pushed one way or the other.
If a carnal Christian persists in doing things his own way, he will never grow to full
maturity. This results in spiritual dullness, with no possibility of sparking a revival in himself, much less in anyone else. By living this way he discredits Christ in all his actions. The
sobering part of this is that Scripture says: “If we deny Christ [in our actions], He will deny
us before the Father.” “Denying Christ” in this Scripture not only refers to our words about
Christ, it also refers to our not reflecting Him with our lives. If there is no “fruit of the Spirit” in our lives, it doesn’t matter how many verses of Scripture we know, we still will be denying Christ. The Lord told us that if we deny Him here, He will be forced to deny us there
before the Father. (God’s will is that we deny ourselves—totally surrender and relinquish
our own thoughts, emotions and desires—pick up our crosses, and follow Him. (Matthew
16:24))
What is also scary is that carnal and unfaithful Christians are no longer moved by a
sense of urgency or watchfulness for Christ’s soon coming. They have been lulled to sleep by
a sense of complacency and they are not concerned about being prepared or ready or qualified to inherit the kingdom. This is a grave mistake! Listen to what Hebrews 4:1 says: “Let
us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of [us] should
seem to come short of it.”
