The Chinese call the little delicacies
served as snacks in bamboo containers
during tea time dim sum, which literally
means “touching your heart”.
There’s nothing like piping hot dim sum
to whet your appetite at Loong Foong
Dim Sum from an assortment of black
pepper, chicken mushroom, seafood and
spinach dumplings or also known as siew
mai in Cantonese.
There are also fluffy wholesome steamed
buns (pau) with generous fillings of
barbecue chicken, coconut, red bean, kaya
and chicken rendang for you to choose
from. No dim sum meal is complete
without well-brewed tea; order a cup of
Premium Chinese Tea to aid digestion and
increase mental alertness.

thanking the tea master or tea server for
tea.
“This custom is said to have originated
in the Qing Dynasty when Emperor Qian
Long would travel in disguise through the
empire. It used to be a rule that everyone
bowed in the presence of the Emperor, but
his companions could not do so without
giving him away. While he was pouring
tea for everyone, his companions secretly
“bowed” to him by tapping 2 bent fingers
on the table to represent bended knees.” So it is this tradition of “bowing” that
still carries on today, especially during
yum cha (literally meaning “drink tea” in
Cantonese).

Kek Lok Si Temple

What You’ll Need
250g curry gravy

yellow noodles
80g
cut chicken
20g
bean sprout
5g
cut spring onion

fried shallot

tofu puffs (tauhu pok)

red chilli
½ piece
boiled egg
How To Cook
1. Blanch the yellow noodles for one
minute, drain and pour it into a bowl.
2. Blanch the bean sprouts for 30 seconds
and add to the bowl.
3. Scoop the gravy, chicken and tofu puffs
(tauhu pok). Pour into the bowl.
4. Add in boiled egg and garnish with cut
spring onion and fried shallot.
