Hi Everyone,
What a fun and memorable Red Ribbon week. The kids looked great in all of
their red and of course their crazy socks.
A big thank you to LeighAnn Schmidt for organizing our Red Ribbon week at
Seaside and all of the amazing kinder parent volunteers who helped paint,
wash and clean and keep our activity pleasant and on schedule. Thank you to
Laura Burnett, Michele McLemore, Kazuyo Oshiwa, David Tseng, Yuko
Morrison, Sun H. Kim, Tammy Degner, Stephanie Yee, Yuko Mikami, Kirsten
Bornstein, Dara Chang, Temmy Cheung, Nicky Brown, Joelean Lambrecht and
Gerald Ariza. If we didn’t have these volunteers these types of events wouldn’t
happen.
We would also like to thank The Double Tree for donating Red Ribbon Pencils
to all of kids at Seaside and all of their support.

Family Night & Reflections showcase 11/6: Thank you to all of the kids that
turned in a project last week. We had a great turn out.
We will display all of the projects in the cafeteria at our family fun night on November 6th at 6pm. You don’t want to miss
out on the fun. In addition to the reflection showcase we also have Street Beat performing at 6pm. Last but not least
we will have a quick PTA association meeting. We will do our best to make it quick and painless.
We would like to thank Sun Kim for chairing Reflections. We greatly appreciate you
volunteering.
Scrip: Get ready for the holidays by ordering your scrip gift cards early. See the scrip booth
on Monday, November 3rd before school and on Wednesday, November 5th after school by
the front gate. This is a great way to get started on teachers gifts, or buy them for everyday
use. There are hundreds of companies to chose from. Don't forget to bring your checkbook.
Please check it out. Turn in on or before November 12th in the office.
Spirit Sticks: In November Spirit Stick will be for sale after school on Wednesday November
5th, 12th, 19th and Monday 24th.
Barnes & Noble and Chick-Fil-A 11/13: Please join us on Thursday, November 13th for
dinner and a good book.

(PTA President’s Message Continues…)
Some of your favorite Seaside teachers and principal will read one of their favorite books between 5-7pm. Barnes &
Noble will also donate a percentage back to our school for any purchases on this day.
Don’t forget to fill your tummy and grab a bite to eat at Chick-Fil-A. They will also be donating a percentage of your
purchases to Seaside PTA.
Please see the flyer below.
Direct Donation update: During the campaign we successfully raised $35,911 for Seaside. This is absolutely
amazing and we are so thankful for all of the families that donated. All of the money that was donated will go back
into our school to support our children.
In a previous letter we announced that the 4th grade classes raised the most money and will be receiving the bonus
assembly. It will take place on November 7th and Bubblemainia will be performing. Thank you to Debbie Gan, Cathy
Tweedie and Bobette Osborne for organizing.
Dont forget to sign up for the following. They don’t cost you any money and they give back to Seaside.
Shoparoo: Is fundraising made easy: turn pictures of your everyday shopping receipts into cash donations and
sweepstakes entries for our school with this free app. Yep, it’s that simple. Just shop, snap, earn. Please see
information below on how to sign up.
Ralphs: Do you shop at Ralphs? If so please bring in the letter below with the barcode on it. You simply need to
have them scan it once a year and it will link your purchases and give Seaside a portion. We can earn up to $2,500
a quarter and all you have to do is shop. Please set this up with your local Ralphs.

Greetings Seaside!
SAFETY: The accident at Walteria is a tragic reminder that we can never be too safe when it comes to
driving, especially around children. Please remember to come to a full and complete stop before allowing your children to enter or exit the vehicle and wait until they are safe on the sidewalk before pulling
away. If walking, cross only at the driveway entry and exit points and not through the middle of the
parking lot. Children are often unaware of their surroundings and impulsive in their actions. Creating
safe habits will help them avoid dangerous behaviors.
VOTE: Seaside is a polling site on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The cafeteria will be used for voting. Remember to
cast your ballot. Please consider carefully when making your choice on Measure T and U; our future is
in your hands. The TUSD web page will provide you with information.

GATE Testing for Grades 4 and 5 All 4th and 5th grade students are being offered the opportunity to
participate in GATE testing based on either teacher recommendation and/or parent request. If you
would like to request testing, please ask your child’s teacher for an application. The deadline for returning your permission slip to your child’s teacher is December 16, 2014. GATE testing for fourth and
fifth graders will take place on site during February and March.

for us. It will be a great time, and it’s FREE! Thank you PTA!
November is upon us. Take time to enjoy your family being mindful of the good fortune we have surrounding us. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

The Green Dolphin’s Tip of the Week:
Choose Hormone Free Milk!
Look for milk that has been certified organic or carries the
words "no artificial hormones." Conventional dairies inject
cows with synthetic recombinant bovine growth hormone
(rBGH), aka bovine somatotropin (rbST), to boost production.
The practice has been implicated in udder infections, requiring
more veterinary antibiotic use, and is banned in many countries. Some
scientists worry the hormones may affect consumers.
