a word from
the president
The Canadiens have long been a source of inspiration, joy and pride
for fans of all ages – but, more particularly, for the youngest among
us. We see it in the smile of a hospitalized child as their favourite
Canadiens player enters their room for a visit. We also see it in
the faces of kids who enthusiastically skate on our BLEU BLANC
BOUGE rinks. It’s also evident through the excitement shown by
thousands of fans of every age who fill the stands to watch their
team practice, as they proudly wear their Canadiens attire. These
are just a few examples of the energy and positivism that reign
each year when we launch our community activities and programs.
The role our company plays outside the arena is one we take
seriously – a commitment to contribute significantly to the welfare
of the community. Our actions are driven by our ability to gather
and inspire people, as well as our desire to improve the lives of
those who need it most. Our programs and activities are focused
on health and active healthy lifestyle, education, hockey
development and well-being of the community.
Through the support and generosity of all our partners and fans,
the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation has, since its
creation, donated more than $16 million to 560 organizations
working for the well-being of underprivileged children in all
regions of Quebec. Over and above its support of community
groups, the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation is the
driving force behind the five BLEU BLANC BOUGE community
rinks to the delight of young people in the boroughs of VilleraySt-Michel-Parc-Extension, Montreal North, Verdun, LaSalle
and Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
Furthermore, our players and their spouses, as well as our
hockey personnel, ambassadors, Alumni and all of our employees
contributed, by their participation and generosity, to the success of
hundreds of initiatives that aim to improve the lives of vulnerable
children and community groups who provide for them, to encourage
those who wish to learn and play the game of hockey, and to offer
the entire community our sincere and loyal support.
Proud of our accomplishments, but aware of the pressing needs
in our community, we intend to continue our community initiatives
with an increased sense of sensitivity and generosity, inspired
by the commitment shown by our heroes and the unwavering
support of our fans and partners.

VISION,
MISSION
& VALUES
The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation is determined to provide a better
and healthier future for children in need. Since its inception in August 2000, the
Foundation has donated close to $17 million to 560 charitable endeavors throughout
the province of Quebec working for the well-being of underprivileged children.
The Foundation fulfills its mandate in two ways: first, through a unique flagship
project – the BLEU BLANC BOUGE program - which consists of building community
refrigerated and multisport rinks; secondly by providing financial support to
organizations whose projects and programs enable children to adopt healthy
lifestyles by being more active and eating better.

OUR MISSION
By uniting the members of the great Canadiens family and by
teaming up with the community, the Montreal Canadiens Children’s
Foundation encourages the adoption and maintenance of a healthy
lifestyle among disadvantaged youth from 0-17 years, through
physical activity and healthy eating habits.
The Foundation also encourages these kids to acquire and develop
skills and abilities through educational and recreational activities.
OUR VALUES
Accessibility: We want to provide children in need with the same
benefits as others of their age: give them the opportunity to
experience the benefits of a healthy life, participate in sports
and leisure activities. We want them to live unique moments and
experiences that are otherwise impossible to have. Our actions are
intended to ensure that their journey to a better and healthier life
is free of hurdles.
Teamwork: Teamwork is a priority within our organization.
We encourage and favor dialogue and collaboration between
the different actors working with kids, to help each other in
projects and partnerships that have the well-being of youths
as common goal.
Extending: The needs are great and the challenges to achieve our
objectives are even greater. We are ready to provide the necessary
efforts to outdo ourselves. We are on the lookout for best practices, we
do not hesitate to ask questions and to challenge ourselves to ensure
the relevance of our actions. We are confident of achieving what may
seem inaccessible and thus, improve the health and lives of youths.
Commitment: Recognizing the prestige and the benefits of being
under the umbrella brand of the Canadiens, we maximize our
resources to improve the well-being of youth. They allow us to
act as a leader and catalyst within the community, and put our
energy and unconditional dedication to serving children in need.
Generosity: Our actions are driven by the desire to contribute
significantly to the most deprived youths. Fortunate to be part
of the Canadiens family, we are grateful and wish to give back to
the community that supports us with loyalty and passion. With a
genuine caring for the youth, we make sure our donations have a
profound impact on their lifestyle.

The Board of Directors of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s

10 statistics that illustrate the
current situation
–– Only 7% of Canadian youth are active enough1.
–– 1/3 of kids drop the practice of a sport during their
transition to adolescence2.
–– Children from low-income families are three times
more likely to have never practiced physical activities
and organized sports3.
–– Low-income is a factor in child obesity: a higher
proportion of children living in a low-income family are
overweight or obese4.
–– Physical activity contributes to academic success through
its benefits on self-esteem, self-control, social skills, a
sense of belonging at school, better classroom behavior,
better cognitive skills and a state of relaxation and
attention favourable to learn5.
–– A girl who does not practice sport at the age of 10 years
old has only a 10% chance to be active at the age of
25 years6.
–– According to youth between 10 and 17 years old, lack of
time is the main factor why they don’t practice physical
activity. But 32.9% of them spend an average of 5 hours
or more per day playing of video games, playing or surfing
on the internet, watching TV or movies7.
–– A healthy diet reduces the potential risk of obesity and
chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, certain
types of cancer and type2 diabetes8.
–– The third of children aged from 6 to 8 years old consume
soft drinks, candy or chips at least once every day9.
–– While 8 in 10 adults watched their parents cook every
day, only about 4 in 10 parents have carried the torch
and cook every night now. Therefore, children have fewer
opportunities to learn to cook healthy food10.

of the board
The mission statement of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s
Foundation proudly mirrors the spirit of the hockey Club. We
mobilize the resources of this outstanding organization and work
with the community to offer a brighter future and good health to
children in need. Our efforts are motivated by our firm desire to
be a leader in the field and to have a significant and longstanding
impact on the lives of these young people. Our actions serve to
underline the commitment that we have collectively undertaken
to positively contribute to their health and well-being.
Since its inception in August 2000, the Foundation has donated
more than $16 million to charitable organizations supporting
the well-being of some of the most vulnerable kids across the
province of Quebec. Our primary goal is to promote healthy
lifestyles among young people by offering different ways to
be physically active and adopt healthy eating habits. With the
implementation of BLEU BLANC BOUGE program in 2009, we
responded to the crying need for quality sports facilities for
disavantaged neighborhoods, allowing thousands of children and
their families to know the benefits of a active lifestyle. Already,
five outdoor, refrigerated and multisport rinks have become
places of pride and gathering for the communities of St-Michel,
Montreal North, Verdun, LaSalle and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. The
Foundation is now working to deploy this program outside of the
Island of Montreal with the construction of a BLEU BLANC BOUGE
rink in Longueuil. Beyond these infrastructures, the Foundation
continues to support the efforts of hundreds of organizations
throughout the four corners of Quebec that work with youth and
offer programs that embrace ahealthy lifestyle.
We are very proud to be working together with the community and
sharing one important goal: the well-being of underprivileged
children. But we are not alone. We are supported by the generosity
of exceptional partners, dedicated donors and committed volunteers
– all of whom help in allowing the Foundation to raise the funds
necessary and to meet our objectives that, in turn, allow us to meet
increasing demands for help.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, but, most importantly, on the
behalf of all the children who benefit from the help of the Montreal
Canadiens Children’s Foundation, we thank all those who support
us in our efforts and progress. As you know, generosity is at the
very heart of all non-profit, community work, and it is in this spirit

COMMUNITY SUPPORT
THE BLEU
BLANC BOUGE
PROGRAM
In 2008, the Foundation launched its flagship project with the objective
of constructing outdoor, refrigerated and multisport rinks. For the past
5 years, the Foundation has invested half of its funds in the implementation
of its BLEU BLANC BOUGE program, which represents an investment of
over $1.4 million per rink. By providing leadership for this initiative, the
Foundation ensures the realization of this unifying project according
to defined criteria and in line with its goals.
The success of the BLEU BLANC BOUGE program lies in the
mobilization and commitment of stakeholders from different
sectors: contractors, community consultation committees, schools,
unions’ volunteers, people from the corporate world and all the
boroughs involved in this project. The Foundation is proud to
partner with them in creating and maintaining a unique program
of its kind, that contributes to the quality of life and health of
thousands of children.
To date, five BLEU BLANC BOUGE rinks have become active
gathering places of pride for communities in the following
boroughs:
Helping disadvantaged youth to be active
The Foundation responds to the crying need for quality sports
infrastructures for disadvantaged neighborhoods, allowing
thousands of children and their families to benefit from an active
lifestyle. This program supports the efforts of local organizations
and is part of a concerted strategy to help children in these areas.
It primarily aims to develop healthy lifestyles among youth of the
neighborhoods where they live. Elementary and secondary schools
are the first to hold a variety of supervised activities. Program
committees of each borough also make facilities available for citizens.
Our sixth rink will be built in Longueuil in the Lionel-Groulx Park
and is scheduled to open in winter 2015.
Quality community rinks year-round
Built according to NHL standards, the infrastructure provides the
necessary versatility for the practice of other sports according
to the time of year. Predominantly used for ice hockey from
November to mid-March, the rinks become an ideal playground
for disciplines such as basketball (4 nets are donated and
installed by the Foundation), soccer, ball hockey and other
types of games during the spring, summer and fall months.

THE BLEU BLANC BOUGE RINKS IN
NUMBERS
–– Since the opening of the first rink, more than
200,000 people were active on them with their
family and friends.
–– Over 50,000 children have been active on a
rink during activities organized by a school or a
community organisation.
–– The implementation of this infrastructure has
already helped provide nearly 30,000 hours of free
access to high quality sports equipment for the
children and citizens of the neighborhoods where
they are located.
–– The St-Michel rink served as a tool of integration for
50 new immigrants this winter with a family activity
organized by the Carrefour d’aide aux nouveaux
immigrants.
–– The number of hours booked by community
organizations in Montreal North doubled last winter.
–– The number of hours booked by the Notre-Dame-deGrâce schools increased from 18 hours to 79 hours.

partners mobilized for the cause
To have the greatest impact, it was essential that the locations of
each of the rinks would be carefully selected. For this purpose, the
Foundation hs been working since 2007 in partnership with Québec
en Forme to improve the health of children living in disadvantaged
areas. Québec en Forme is the principal advisor to the Foundation
flagship project in the selection of the environment and community
partners, as well as the development of effective activation and
measuring program impact.
BLEU BLANC BOUGE in action: one stride at a time
Dedicated to encouraging a healthy physical lifestyle among
children, the Foundation has further introduced its BLEU BLANC
BOUGE in action program for kids who live in the neighbourhoods
where the rinks have been built. The Foundation provides
leadership for this initiative, which gives elementary school
children a chance to embrace ice skating activities in a supervised
framework that fosters a healthy lifestyle, socialization and
teamwork – all offered in a safe environment.
The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation teamed up with
Hockey Canada, Hockey Québec and kinesiology students from
Université de Montréal to launch ice skating clinics for first- and
second-grade students in areas where the BLEU BLANC BOUGE
rinks were built. Close to 200 kids benefit from these 6-week
clinics each winter. All rinks are well equipped with skates,
helmets and hockey sticks available for every participant.

When we arrived at the rink, the staff was waiting for
us with a smile and all the well-prepared equipment.
Every Monday, students were eager to go to the rink and
play games with the coaches. Learning with all kind of
games motivated the students. It was remarkable to see
how students were improving. Out of the 16 students in
my class, 10 had never set foot a skate before. It was a
pleasure working with you!”

HOCKEY GAMES AT THE BELL CENTRE FOR KIDS
Aiming to provide the most needy children with opportunities to
live dreamlike moments, the Foundation was pleased to count on
the generosity of Canadiens captain Brian Gionta. Upon his arrival
in Montreal in 2009, he teamed up with the Foundation to provide
sick and underprivileged children with an opportunity to attend a
Canadiens game in a private suite adapted to their needs.
During the past season, some 350 kids enjoyed a memorable
evening and forgot about their hardships for a few hours. For
most of the invitations, the Foundation works closely with various
community organizations to select children who could benefit
from an evening of hockey at the Bell Centre. The Foundation also
responds to individual requests for kids to fulfill a dream at a time
in their lives that may be very difficult.

GAME ON KIDS!
Canadiens game ticketholders who wish to generously support
the Foundation can do so through the Game on kids! program. By
donating their tickets to games they cannot attend, Canadiens
ticketholders can give back to the community in a distinctive way,
thus allowing sick and underprivileged children to experience a
Canadiens game at the Bell Centre. Several Canadiens players
and their spouses participate each year in this program.
As part of this program, the Foundation gave 317 tickets to the
following charitable endeavours:

To donate tickets, contact the Foundation by email at fondation@canadiens.
com at least 72 hours before the game by typing GAME ON KIDS in the subject
of your email. Season ticket holders can also donate their tickets via their
online account by clicking “Give tickets to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s
Foundation”. You will receive a tax receipt for the value of the tickets.

PROJECTS FOR YOUTH THROUGHOUT QUEBEC
The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation provides help and
support to children in need. But it also offers financial assistance
to numerous community organizations that wish to launch projects
that meet the Foundation’s objectives. The Foundation emphasizes
the implementation of a healthy and active lifestyle among youth
through educational and recreational activities. The Foundation
supports groups that work with underprivileged kids aged 0 to 17.
Through the help of the Foundation, organizations can purchase
sports and recreational equipment and material. The funds are
also used to finance summer camps, purchase kitchen supplies to
initiate healthy eating habits, and provide educational programs
aimed at encouraging personal growth through learning.
Since its inception, the Foundation has financially supported 560
charitable organizations throughout Quebec. Last season alone,

SIGNATURE EVENTS
The Montreal Canadiens’ annual golf tournament
The Montreal Canadiens’ golf tournament is a much-anticipated
occasion for members of the Habs’ glorious family to connect with
collaborators and partners, hang out with clients and friends,
while enjoying a fun day of golf on the greens before the hockey
season gets under way. This is also a major fundraising event for
the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation which generates
substantial financial support. These funds are what allow the
Foundation to reach its objectives and continue to answer the
growing needs of underprivileged children. Since the year 2000,
the Foundation has raised a total of more than $4.3 million
through its annual golf tournament. The event’s sponsors and
participants are known for their tremendous generosity, as
each year they continue to give for a good cause. And in the end,
hundreds of organizations and thousands of kids in need have
reaped the rewards.
On September 3, 2013, it was sunny at the Laval-sur-le-Lac
Golf Club and the Foundation’s 38th annual tournament raised
$508,101. The success of this event is the result of collaboration
and exemplary support of partners, donors, members of the
organization and volunteers.

street hockey tournament - “together for the kids”
The third edition of the street hockey tournament “Together for the
kids” to benefit the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation and
YM-YWHA was held on May 25. Thanks to the big-heartedness of
participants and a large number of partners who stood together,
$244,000 has been raised through this event. This year, defenseman
P.K. Subban has been involved in the tournament by sponsoring five
youth teams from the BLEU BLANC BOUGE neighborhoods. Several
former Canadiens players, including Patrice Brisebois, honorary
chairman of the tournament, Chris Nilan, Gilbert Delorme and
Mathieu Dandenault took part in a friendly match in the afternoon.
The street hockey tournament was an opportunity for more than
300 people, young and old, to showcase their talent as ball-hockey
players.

The Foundation’s Radio-Telethon
On March 12, 2014, the Foundation invited Canadiens fans and the
public to participate in its 5th annual Radio-Telethon. Thanks to the
invaluable support and participation of broadcasters RDS, TSN,
98.5 FM and TSN Radio, along with Activis, Bell, Desjardins and
La Presse+, the event is an opportunity to raise funds but also to
communicate the mission and accomplishments of the Foundation.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters who have joined the cause,
the Radio-Telethon has raised more than $130,000.
In the late afternoon, hosts of RDS and TSN as well as their radio
station peers at 98.5 FM and TSN Radio invited the public to make
donations to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation. At 5 p.m.,
several Canadiens Alumni, Habs spouses, other members of the
Canadiens organization, as well as friends of the Foundation –
including Billy Tellier, Étienne Dano, Korine Côté and Sylvie Bernier
joined forces with the volunteer team to man the phones and
collect donations until the end of the game between the Habs and
the Boston Bruins. During the game’s second period, Foundation
volunteers participated in a special fundraising initiative, with
colourful buckets being filled by generous fans at the Bell Centre.
Throughout the night, members of the Canadiens family, and
representatives of organizations that have benefited from the
support of the Foundation, participated in various on-air programs
live from the Bell Centre.

way home Greg was clutching the signed card as if it

The Radio-Telethon in numbers
–– More than 150 volunteers teamed up to make the
Radio-Telethon a success.
–– 546 people made a $10 donation by texting HABS
to 45678.
–– 526 telephone calls were received by our celebrities.
–– More than 120 buckets were used to collect $14,000
during the second period.
–– More than 1,200 people donated $50 or more. Their
reward: receiving photos of Brendan Gallagher,
Carey Price and Guy Lafleur.

MEET THE FANS
The Foundation is fortunate to have a great visibility during the Canadiens
games at the Bell Centre. It seizes every opportunity offered to go and
meet the fans. The Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club is privileged to have
the most loyal fans in the world of sport. The support shown by these
fans is exemplified by their generosity from the very first puck drop at the
start of the season, throughout the season, at each home game. This year,
thanks to the excellent performance of the team, the Foundation was able
to benefit from additional home games in the playoffs to gain support.
Season ticket holders
Last season, the annual campaign among season ticket holders
collected $60,945 for the construction of the sixth BLEU BLANC
BOUGE rink in Longueuil.
Lottery
During each Canadiens games at the Bell Centre, volunteers walk
around the building to sell lottery tickets for $2 each. The Montreal
Canadiens Children’s Foundation lottery offers fans the opportunity
to win a $2,000 prize at the end of each home game. Through the
sale of lottery tickets, more than $294,300 was collected during the
2013-14 season.
Zamboni Ride and message on the scoreboard
Wishing to please a child or loved one, some prefer to make
a donation to the Foundation allowing a child to enjoy a ride
aboard the Bell Centre Zambonis or to display birthday greetings
on the giant HD scoreboard. These initiatives helped collect a
total of $16,450.
Silent auctions
Collectors and sports fans can still get their hands on unique items
by bidding on our silent auctions during the Canadiens games at
the Bell Centre. Silent auctions raised $257,470 last year.
Special promotions
The Foundation is always looking for creative ideas to raise money
and appeal to Habs fans. There were three sales of mystery pucks
during the last season. Sold for $25, these pucks are all signed
by a Canadiens player. The buyer does not know the identity of
the player before making the purchase. For Valentine’s Day, the
Foundation has called on the players’ spouses to create a favorite
items basket for each player. The baskets were auctioned at the
Foundation kiosk and on its Facebook page. As part of the playoffs
in 2014, the Foundation has undertaken various initiatives to raise
funds, including a text message contest as well as blind auctions.
Together those promotions raised over than $47,000.

When it comes to reaching its goals, the Montreal Canadiens Children’s
Foundation can count on outstanding corporate partners – first-rate allies who
play a big role in helping children in need through their financial contributions,
year after year. Generosity is the basis of charity work, and it is in this spirit
that these companies are proud to provide more meaningful support to the
Foundation and we are very grateful for their loyal commitment.
Desjardins: 12 years of dedication
In May 2014, Desjardins Securities presented a cheque for $410,522
to the Foundation on behalf of its employees. This amount was a
result of the annual “Working for the kids” fundraising Campaign,
in which investment advisers donate their commissions from a day
to help children in need. Thanks to this generous gift, Desjardins
Securities brought its total employee donation amount for the
Foundation to more than $3.9 million over the last 12 years.
The partnership between the Foundation and Desjardins Securities
demonstrates that teamwork among Desjardins management and
employees can go a long way to helping children in need. Their
generosity and dedication play a definitive role in allowing the
Foundation to attain its objectives.
Rio Tinto Alcan
The seventh annual Rio Tinto Alcan Benefit Evening took place
in March 2014 with proceeds going to the Foundation. The event
was held at Rio Tinto Alcan’s corporate headquarters, which
once served as a Christian congregation dating back to 1906. The
evening featured charming highlights, including a silent and live
auction, a mystery caps and pucks sale and performances by the
talented Florence K! Several players and members of the Canadiens
organization were on hand for the occasion, including Pierre Boivin,
Michel Lacroix, Réjean Houle, Guy Lafleur, Sergio Momesso, Mathieu
Darche, Brendan Gallagher, Carey Price, Peter Budaj, Jarred Tinordi
and P.K. Subban.
Ford: a perfect match!
The third Annual Charity Ford Hockey game in collaboration with
CKOI was held at the Bell Centre on April 6, 2014. Two teams
made of Quebec prominent celebrities from different backgrounds
competed in a friendly match. The event, organized in collaboration
with evenko raised $145,000 for the Montreal Canadiens Children’s
Foundation and attracted an audience of 13,000 fans. They came
to watch two teams battle it out for bragging rights – Team
Mario Tremblay, captained by Louis Morissette, against Team
Carl Marotte, captained by Patrice Bélanger. Ford dealerships
from across the province, as well as Ford of Canada generously
contributed to the cause. On their side, CKOI was a great partner
for the animation and the promotion of the game, as well as for the
recruitment of numerous personalities, who happily suited up.
Emballages Marcan: a healthy wrap-up
Emballages Marcan teamed up with Metro and Super C to
encourage the public to purchase specific fruits and vegetables like
oranges and onions to help children in need. For each packaged
item sold in stores, five cents was donated to the Foundation.
Customers who made these purchases were eligible to participate
in a contest, with gifts that included tickets to Habs games in a
suite, autographed items and the ultimate of all prizes – a chance
to appear in the official Canadiens team photo. Thanks to the
success of this initiative, over $550,000 was donated by
Emballages Marcan to the Foundation over the past nine years.
Presided by Jacynthe Côté, CEO of Rio Tinto Alcan, along with
Pierre Boivin, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation,
the evening saw $200,000 in proceeds raised for the Foundation –
bringing Rio Tinto Alcan’s total contribution over the past six years
to $1.5 million. The partnership between the Foundation and Rio
Tinto Alcan demonstrates again the strong ties and dedication that
Quebec companies have with the goals of the Foundation.

More and more, the Foundation is pleased to be able to count on the support of
the team’s many fans, friends and youth groups, who organize original and varied
fundraising events every year.
Golf Tournaments
In 2013, Michel Therrien created his own golf tournament. In
the first year, the tournament raised nearly $95,000. With this
success, he decided to repeat the experience this year at Le Mirage
Golf Club. For the occasion several of his players were on hand,
including P.K. Subban, Lars Eller, David Desharnais, Michael
Bournival, Brandon Prust, Francis Bouillon and the newcomer
Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau. Kristopher Letang, Pascal Dupuis
and Marc-André Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins, several
other NHL players, as well as Mario Lemieux, Jacques Demers,
Stéphane Richer and Patrick Roy all took part in this second highly
successful edition.
Like this annual event, profits from several annual golf
tournaments are donated to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s
Foundation to support its efforts towards children in need.
Companies and organizations such as Cage aux Sports,
National Bank of Canada, Vergers Leahy, APCHQ Montréal
and Regroupement des composites du Québec gathered
together more than $50,000 with foursomes, sponsorships,
auction and draws.
All sorts of events
Events in support of the Foundation are varied and allow people
from all walks of life to help children by participating in initiatives
they like.
Last fall, the television show “Battle of the Blades” recruited
Mathieu Dandenault to team up with Marie-France Dubreuil for
their fourth edition. After several numbers as touching as they
could be funny, the duo climbed into third place, winning $15,000
respectively for the cause of their choice. Mathieu Dandenault
chose to donate the amount to the Foundation.

THIRD PARTY INITIATIVES
TO SUPPORT THE FOUNDATION
Last spring, students of the Sports Management and Marketing
program at Champlain College organized the sixth Champlain
Cup featuring flag football, soccer, hockey and ultimate frisbee
competitions. The tournaments were a huge success. Participants
had a great time and a record amount of $7,655 was given to
the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation. This graduation
project allows students to organize sports events from A to Z and
familiarize themselves with the research of sponsorships.
On August 16, 2014, as many as 15,000 courageous runners
participated in The Color Run at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on
Notre-Dame Island in Montreal. This unique race has generated
unprecedented interest in each host city where it was introduced.
The Color Run race celebrates health, joy and local features while
bringing members of the community to create a colourful path
of five kilometers. As it does in all the host cities, The Color Run
donated a portion of the profits from the event to a local cause,
the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation. Through this
partnership, the Foundation invited twenty kids from the Circuit
Program from the Sainte-Justine Hospital as well as a dozen kids
from Montreal youth centers.

In addition to the programs and efforts of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s
Foundation, the Montreal Canadiens family is actively involved in supporting
the Quebec community through various organizations.
Activities that show a commitment to supporting health needs - As long as the Montreal
Canadiens have been around, players who wore the jersey have supported children afflicted
by a disease and their families. Touched by the challenges these families are facing, we try to
bring comforting and happy moments.
Programs that demonstrate a willingness to support education - With over 100 years of history,
our organization builds on its achievements to encourage young Quebecers to stick with school.
Discipline, dedication and determination shown by professional hockey players are values we
want to teach our kids to contribute to their academic and personal development.
Initiatives that affirm a willingness to develop hockey - As a professional team, the Montreal
Canadiens Hockey Club is committed to participate in the development of hockey and encourage
the next generation of local players. Future professional hockey players are the kids who
practice their favorite sport across the province and we are proud to support them throughout
their journey.
Finally, actions that demonstrate a willingness to contribute to well-being -The desire to
help and provide support to youth, their families and people in need is at the heart of our

HOSPITAL VISITS
Habs legend Jean Béliveau is the leader behind the 49-year hospital visit tradition. Aware of
the importance of health and the role they have in children’s imaginations, the coaching staff
and all the Canadiens players were happy to visit about 350 young patients at CHU SainteJustine and the Montreal Children’s Hospital. On December 16, players were divided into two
groups to meet as many children as possible and share precious moments with their young
supporters.
Though we sometimes feel helpless during the visit; we are greeted by strong and special
children and their parents. Despite their illness, pain and hardships, they showed us their
best smiles. For the organization members, emotions can run high. Some of them are parents
themselves and can feel what the moms and dads deal with as their child battles illness. We
do our utmost to provide some joy and encouragement to support these kids during our visit.

BLOOD CLINIC
For over 30 years, the Montreal Canadiens have invited their supporters and the public to donate
blood during an annual blood donor clinic introduced by Mr. Jean Béliveau and the late Claude
Mouton in 1981 to help the Red Cross, the organization responsible for the blood supply in
Québec at the time. The clinic has been organized for the benefit of Héma-Quebec since 1998.
Last season, the event presented on November 20, 2013 in collaboration with evenko and
RDS yielded 750 blood donations, which corresponds to three-quarters of the daily needs of
Héma-Quebec. The presence of the members of the organization encourages many people to
come to the Bell Centre and contribute to maintaining the blood bank to meet the needs of the
community. Former and actual Canadiens players, Youppi! and several evenko personalities
took turns to meet and thank the donors for their generosity, in addition to signing autographs
and taking photos with everyone, much to the delight of those present. A diabetes prevention
program was also added this year. With the participation of the Sun Life Financial and
Diabetes Quebec, a diabetic testing kiosk could allow donors to be tested in a few minutes.
In recent years, the Canadiens have enjoyed the collaboration of RDS to promote and cover the
event, in addition to being represented by numerous personalities who offer gifts and meet donors
throughout the day. Team work that serves the community well!
Héma-Québec
Created in September 1998, Héma-Québec’s mission is to
efficiently provide blood components, substitutes, human
tissues and cord blood safe, of optimal quality and in
sufficient quantity to meet the needs of all Quebecers, as well
as provide and develop expertise, services and specialized
and innovative products in the fields of transfusion medicine
and human tissue transplantation.

CANCER
As a member of the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens participate annually in the
Hockey Fights Cancer program, a League initiative to raise awareness and
money for care and research to overcome this terrible disease. Thus, throughout
the month of October 2013, actions were taken to support the efforts of the
League and its teams.
HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER awareness night
For the occasion, the coaching staff and the leaders of Canadiens
wore a lavender tie in honour of the program. A total of 53 young
members of Leucan attended the game thanks to the generosity of
businesses and owners of private suites at the Bell Centre, which
played hosts to these children and their parents. These kids were
welcomed by the players’ wives during a pre-game reception and
ended the evening by meeting some Canadiens players and Youppi!
after the game. The National Hockey League also highlighted this
evening with a $5,000 donation to Leucan at a ceremony held in the
Directors Lounge prior to the game. In addition, an online auction
featured a lavender taped stick from the captain, assistant captains
and starting goalie of each NHL team to raise additionnal funds for
the program.
Partner in this initiative since its inception, RDS offered preferred
seating for some young guests. They had the opportunity to visit
their studio and mobile production and call the play-by-play
sequence on the air in the company of Pierre Houde. Hosts and
reporters from the Réseau des sports were also present at the
pre-game reception to meet all young Leucan and participate in the
presentation of souvenirs.

MOVEMBER
From November 1st to 30th, 2013, the Canadiens players and several
members of the organization took part in the Movember campaign
to raise awareness and funds for testicular and prostate cancer
and men’s mental health.
Having lost his friendly fundraising wager with the Vancouver
Canucks in November 2012, the organization has been working hard
this year. The presence of George Parros as captain of this team of
mustaches attracted more attention to the campaign. Not only did
the Montreal Canadiens team of nicknamed “Mo Habs Mo” win the
duel against the Canucks, but it was the #1 fundraising team among
the NHL. The 162 participants of the “Mo Habs Mo” team raised a
total of $61,208, the highest amount raised by any Quebec team.
their “Mo”, these men are collecting money for men’s health,
particularly for prostate cancer and men’s mental health, and raise
public awareness of this issue. Every November 1st, guys, clean
shaven, register to Movember.com. The rest of the month, these
selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, trim, preserve and
wax their mustache so it’s the most beautiful. Supported by the
women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds
by looking for sponsors for their mustaches. Mo Bros effectively
become walking and talking billboards during the 30 days of
November. What they do and what they say help raise awareness by
promoting private conversations and public discussions on this often
neglected topic of men’s health. In 2013 in Canada, Mo Bros and Mo
Sistas raised $32 million for the cause.
Every year in November, Movember is sprouting mustaches on
thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With

Every year, we have the privilege of participating
in the Leucan evening at the Bell Centre. Held in
conjunction with the support of the NHL to fight
cancer, this special day is a true inspiration to us all.
All colleagues of RDS will meet young people and their
parents before the start of the game in a lounge of the
building, which is transformed for the occasion into
an incredible party place. Happiness that emerges
from children affected with the disease is absolutely
touching! First, we meet them in a highly emotional
context which tears in our hearts, but soon it is carried
away by this wave of positive energy that pervades the
lounge. We mingle with families, we chat with parents,
we take pictures with them and in a second, it’s us who
are raised by this privileged interaction”.

TALKS
At the end of January 2014, the Montreal Canadiens joined the Calgary Flames,
Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs in the
Hockey Talks program, created by the Vancouver Canucks and supported by the
National Hockey League, which aims to increase awareness about mental health
and effective treatment that can be used.
The seven Canadian NHL teams recognize the importance of
educating the public about mental health and engage a dialogue in
this regard at the national level. Initially, the goal of Hockey Talks
is to expose the public to this condition too often overlooked and,
in so doing, help to dispel prejudices involving mental health social
stigma. This stigma adds to the suffering and burdens on the people
affected by mental illness. Thanks to the collaboration of the seven
Canadian teams, this message can have the depth to reach citizens
of all ages and from all walks of life.
The Canadiens also launched their own mental health awareness
initiatives on Tuesday January 28 as they took on the Carolina
Hurricanes at the Bell Centre. Upon the opening of the doors,
players’ wives and Bell ambassadors distributed bracelets in support
of the Bell Let’s Talk campaign. Honored guests of the evening,
kids from the Fondation les petits trésors and some patients of the
Douglas Institute had the opportunity to attend the game in a private
suite. They met “Bell Let’s Talk” spokesperson Michel Mpambara
and Stefie Shock as well as Josh Gorges and Guy Lafleur, spokesmen
for the “Hockey speaks” campaign. Finally, in support of the cause,
the Canadiens players wore the Hockey Talks logo on their helmets
throughout the month of February.
MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
One in five Canadians will experience problems of mental
illness or mental health during their life; every Canadian
will be affected by this condition indirectly through a family
member, a friend or a colleague. Stigma and discrimination
related to mental illness represents a significant barrier
not only in terms of diagnosis and treatment, but also
about social acceptance. Approximately 70% of mental
health problems and mental illnesses begin in childhood
or adolescence. By identifying risk factors early and using
the tools and help available, we get to prevent the situation
from deteriorating. Mental health and mental illness can be
treated effectively.

@ school program
Launched in fall 2007, Canadiens @ School is a program that provides free
educational tools on the theme of hockey for teachers of the first grade through
the third secondary. More than 200 educational activities, based on the curriculum
criteria established by the ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du
Québec, are available on the website. Featuring the legends of the Montreal
Canadiens and current players, this resource does not fail to capture the attention
of students and add fun in the classroom learning. Subjects included in the programme are French, English, mathematics, arts, personal development
and physical education.
After seven years of existence, the program is now used in all
72 Quebec School Boards. At the end of the last school year,
10,274 teachers were enrolled in the program and had used it
to educate more than 430,000 students in 2,609 elementary and
secondary schools in the province.
A survey of teachers confirmed that the leaflets of this program
are of high quality, with a difficulty level suited to the academic
curriculum, and contribute positively to the teaching of subjects.
Among the most popular activities, we find in languages, illustrated
stories and biographies of players, and in mathematics, statistics
of players who have marked the history of the Canadiens.
Parents of kids learning with the program are not left behind. On
the website, they will find tools to support their children in achieving
their homework and school work, as well as ideas to encourage the
whole family to be active and adopt healthy life habits.

To recognize the efforts and achievements of youth at risk, Carey Price
has chosen to develop the initiative “Stick with school” to support student
perseverance. Aware of the scope of his gestures, Carey wants to encourage

To generate perseverance, it is necessary that studies are
sufficiently valued for youth so that they are motivated and
committed to it. They need to feel they are able to succeed a course
suited to their abilities and aspirations and that the requirements
of their student life are aligned with other dimensions of their
lives. Presented in collaboration with the organization Pathways,
Kahnawake Education Center and Pour 3 Points, “Stick with
school” is part of a process of perseverance and reward efforts and
commitment to achieve concrete and realistic goals.
Pathways, Kahnawake Education Center and Pour 3 Points
provide significant support that allows a higher percentage of
youth to successfully complete their high school education, to
pursue their postsecondary education and to actively engage
in the development of their future careers. The program aims
to increase the retention and success of students in the most
vulnerable communities.
During the last season, 20 young people had the opportunity
to attend a Canadiens game at the Bell Centre with their tutor,
courtesy of Carey. As part of their journey, these students wrote
short texts describing their visit to the Bell Centre and the impact
on their academic challenges.

GUY LAFLEUR AWARDS
OF EXCELLENCE
In June 2014, the Montreal Canadiens and Molson Coors presented jointly
the Guy Lafleur Awards of Excellence and Merit for the 2013-2014 season.
These awards are given annually to students who exemplify excellent
on-ice achievements and scholastic results.
The program was introduced in 1985 with the objective of
encouraging sports and academic excellence for players competing
in all three major amateur hockey leagues in the province of
Quebec; the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL),
member schools of the Canadian Interuniversity Sports in Quebec
(CIS) and the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League (QJAAAL).
Honorees are selected by a jury made of representatives from the
sports media, the hockey and education communities. Molson
Coors awards recipients of the Guy Lafleur Awards of Excellence
a $6,000 scholarship over a 3-year period, while the beneficiary of
the Guy Lafleur Awards of Merit earns a $1,000 scholarship.

PROGRAM - FAEQ
The Montreal Canadiens presented their 7th annual bursary
ceremony as partners of the Quebec Foundation for Athletic
Excellence bursary program. In 2008, the Montreal Canadiens
announced a three-year investment totaling $100,000 towards the
Foundation – a donation that allowed the organization to create
a program to support men and women’s ice hockey. In 2011, the
Canadiens renewed their partnership with the Foundation, with a
donation of $250,000 to the organization, spread out over five years
until 2015.
On February 2014, the Canadiens President and CEO, Geoff Molson,
presented twenty-eight $1,500 scholarships to hockey players
between 15 and 17 years of age. Eight of the scholarships were given
to female hockey players from Quebec’s provincial squad looking at
making the Canadian national team, while twenty scholarships were
handed out to Midget AAA League players aged between 14 and 17
years old. The award ceremony was held at the Bell Centre prior to
the game between the Canadiens and the visiting Calgary Flames.
Since 2013, there are two types of scholarships. Sixteen Academic
Excellence scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who have
achieved outstanding academic results or worthy of mention while
12 student-athletes are awarded an Academic and Sports Success
Encouragement scholarship. The latter promotes the reconciliation
of sports and education, and is often a very important concern
and big challenge for a large proportion of student-athletes. The
scholastic performance is an important eligibility criteria to better
prepare students for a post-athletic career.
The 2014 recipients were selected based on their athletic
excellence and for having continued their secondary or postsecondary education. The Montreal Canadiens Bursary Program
is managed by the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence in
partnership with Hockey Québec and the Midget AAA League.
About the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence
The Foundation’s main objective is to provide financial support
to performing student-athletes who also distinguish themselves
in class and help them strive towards excellence as young
role models in the Quebec society. Over the last five years, the
Foundation has handed out over $4.4 million in scholarships to
deserving student-athletes and reward $1 million in scholarships
to over 325 student-athletes of the province in 2013.

Six former FAEQ scholarship recipients in the women’s
hockey category, Mélodie Daoust, Charline Labonté, Caroline

team at the Olympics in Sochi in February 2014. We would like

DRIVES
While the Canadiens attract more than 21,000 spectators for its games at the
Bell Centre, the organization has the opportunity to cultivate the generosity of
its supporters as part of collections for the benefit of different causes.
Last season, the members of the organization contributed to the 13th Big Media Food Drive
presented Thursday, December 5, 2013. This traditional annual collection day on street corners
was still one of solidarity. Hundreds of media and thousands of volunteers joined, across Quebec, to
collect non-perishable food and cash donations to help the low-income individuals and families. For the
occasion, Youppi! and several Canadiens Alumni went to the corner of Papineau and René- Lévesque and
lent a hand to the RDS animators and personalities. In the evening, during the game against the Boston
Bruins, fans were encouraged to bring non-perishable food to the Bell Centre. All donations collected
during the day were donated to Moisson Montreal, Sun Youth and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul
to meet the needs of the Montreal community.
In early April 2014, the Canadiens urged their supporters to contribute to their annual collection of new
and used skates during a game at the Bell Centre. This community initiative will provide skates for several
organizations and programs, thus contributing to the shortfall of sports equipment in various disadvantaged
areas. Fans who attended the game gave more than 40 pairs of skates. They were collected at the various
entrances by the players’ wives and volunteers. By participating to this skate drive, fans had the chance
to win great prizes, including Habs autographed items. The BLEU BLANC BOUGE rinks of the Montreal
Canadiens Children’s Foundation were the main beneficiaries of this drive.

GRAND DÉFI
PIERRE LAVOIE
For the sixth consecutive year, the Canadiens participated in the
Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie, a spectacular bike marathon in which
180 teams of 5 cyclists rode more than 1,000 kilometers making
their way from Saguenay to Montreal, biking through several
regions of the province.
All profits generated by this initiative are donated to the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie Foundation
to support research into orphan hereditary diseases and projects promoting healthy lifestyles.
In addition, each cycling team was invited to partner with one or more elementary schools of
their choice to encourage them to enroll in the Get up and Move contest. In return, the Grand
Défi Pierre Lavoie gives the sponsored schools the extra funds raised by their respective team
after their registration fees are covered. Over and above the 1,000 km, this event brings hope
for all youth and their families who decided to take control of their health and for all those
affected by an orphan hereditary disease. It is also a mobilization project for thousands of
Quebec students who took part in the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie during the school year.

OPERATION
SANTA CLAUS
In December, the magic of Christmas was present for the Canadiens
organization, its players and employees who contributed generously to
the initiative of Mr. Normand Brault, co-founder of Operation Santa Claus.
This community organization works in partnership with Youth Centres, schools and other
organizations helping disadvantaged families whose children may not get to enjoy a visit
from Santa. Operation Santa Claus cares for children in need. Without the generosity of the
public, they would not receive a gift at Christmas. Some children ask for clothing such as
a hat, mittens, shoes, they don’t even have the essentials... They live in very poor families,
and at times very unhappy situations. Some are even abandoned.
Many letters were sent to various departments of the organization, including the hockey
staff, the players and their wives. The wishes of children were heard and a multitude gifts
were wrapped.
The overall Operation Santa Claus 2013 campaign reached more than 7,000 children who had
the pleasure of finding gifts under the tree.
Together, six Canadiens teams including Pierre Allard, Sébastien Bordeleau, Mathieu Darche,
Patrice Brisebois, Guy Carbonneau, Luigi Carola, Sylvain Lefebvre, Vincent Lucier, Carl
Lavigne, Véronique Poulin, Ken Morin, Hubert Richard, Dominick Saillant and FrançoisXavier Seigneur, rode in relay with heart and determination for nearly 60 hours. Their efforts
have raised more than $200,000, divided between the Grand Défi Foundation, 16 elementary
schools and the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation.

THE GOAL IS
GREEN! PROGRAM
In May 2007, the Montreal Canadiens organization embarked on what
would become known as The Goal is Green! program, an ambitious
and wide-ranging project to position the club at the forefront of all
environmental leaders in professional sports. Through its mission,
the program aims to reduce the organization’s environmental footprint,
support the greening of the environment and renewable resources,
and encourage its wide-ranging fanbase to do the same.
To achieve these goals, a comprehensive review of the Bell
Centre’s operations management was undertaken to identify
the areas and processes in the facility that were falling short of
environmental standards. Once the identified areas had been
corrected or improved, the Bell Centre applied for and received
three environmental certifications – Ici on Recycle (Level 3),
LEED-EB (Existing Building), and ISO 14001 - the most of any
venue in North America.
In addition, electric charging points were installed at the end of
April 2013 and all the lights in the building sign were changed to
LED: thus allowing for major savings of energy (65%) and a 54 000
hours (vs 2000) lifetime.
Ici on recycle (Level 3)
In May 2008, the Bell Centre received a level 3 certification by the
Quebec government’s Ici on Recycle program for recycling and
composting 80% of the facility’s residual waste. Since that time,
the Bell Centre has increased the level to 85% (up from 25% prior
to the launch of program), a figure which represents approximately
1,000 tons of residual waste that is recycled or composted by the
Bell Centre on an annual basis.
LEED-EB (Existing Building)
The Bell Centre received certification from the Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) on October 13, 2009.
LEED is a third-party certification program and an internationally
accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation
of high performance green buildings. To earn certification, the
Bell Centre had to meet 50 different LEED criteria. As a result of
the changes made to the Bell Centre to become LEED certified,
the venue became 35% more energy efficient than similar-type
facilities throughout North America.
ISO 14001
The Bell Centre was certified ISO 14001 on November 16, 2009.
The ISO 14001 is the world’s most recognized framework for
environmental management systems (EMS) that help organizations
to better manage the impact of their activities on the environment
and demonstrate sound environmental management.
Fan-friendly Initiatives
In addition to the organizational improvements implemented as
part of the Goal is Green! program, the Montreal Canadiens have
also made numerous improvements that impact the public, such as:
–– Allocating three premiere Bell Centre parking spots for
hybrid vehicles.
–– Changing the type of plastic used in all beer cups from a form
that biodegraded in 1,000 years to one that biodegrades within
three months.
–– Installing 945 two- and three-way recycling bins throughout
the Bell Centre concourses and offices.
REPURPOSING LEFTOVER FOOD
Through a partnership with the Maison du Père and the Tablée des
chefs, leftover food from concessions and suites after a game or a
concert is redistributed to people in need. Over 39 tons of food are
donated annually, the equivalent of 25,000 meals.

MINOR HOCKEY
PROGRAM
The Montreal Canadiens Minor Hockey Program, presented in
collaboration with Hockey Quebec, aims to support and promote
the growth and development of minor hockey in Quebec. The
program is offered to all young Quebec hockey players, from
Novice to Bantam. To participate, all players, parents and coaches
of a team must agree to abide by and enforce the fundamental
principles of the program: good behavior, fair values and
sportsmanship.
During the 2013-2014 season, several young players from all
across Quebec committed to play hockey for fun, to learn and
observe the rules of the game, respect their teammates, their
coaches, officials, opponents and their supporters, and to remain
in control of their emotions to prevent the game to become a
violent sport. For their part, the coaches have also made the
commitment to know and respect the rules of amateur hockey
and to defend them at all times, and to educate their players to
sportsmanship and to encourage and reward such behavior.
In addition to the official kit given to all teams, the program offers
two main activities to its members: the Tim Hortons Coaching Day
and the Esso Minor Hockey Festival.
Tim Hortons Coaching Day
Some 600 coaches from all regions of Quebec, in categories prenovice to bantam, received one day of training at the Bell Centre,
along with the Montreal Canadiens’ coaching staff and specialists
from Hockey Quebec. Several topics were discussed, including
goaltender coaching methods and how to improve several aspects
of the game: basic skills, physical preparation and, decisionmaking and execution in 1-on-1 situations.
Esso Minor Hockey Festival
Some 34 teams from all 14 Hockey Quebec administrative regions,
578 players and 136 coaches received an invitation to play a game
on the Bell Centre ice as part of this hockey celebration:

INITIATIVES
As a professional hockey club, the Montreal Canadiens make it their
duty to be actively involved in the development of hockey and encourage
grassroots hockey players to pursue their dream. Tomorrow’s professional
hockey players are today’s kids who play the game on rinks and ponds across
the province and the Canadiens are proud to support them by offering a
variety of opportunities to learn and progress.
Montreal Canadiens Hockey School
The Montreal Canadiens Hockey School is a summer camp that has helped more than 600
young players from Novice to Bantam to improve several aspects of their game with valuable
advice from coaches and consultants in professional sports. This unique hockey experience
helps young kids learn while spending an unforgettable week at the Bell Sports Complex. The
program intends to teach young players a sporting culture combining their natural abilities,
respect and sportsmanship while encouraging their passion for this sport. The Canadiens
Hockey School is divided into two ranks: Recreation, for children who love hockey and want a
memorable experience in the presence of members of the Montreal Canadiens organization,
and Elite, focusing more on developing individual skills.

More than 17,000 happy supporters filled the Bell Centre on the morning of Sunday,
January 5, 2014 to watch the Canadiens practice. For the occasion, the team was
greeted by thousands of fans from all ages for the 2013-14 edition of the Canadiens
practice presented by Provigo. The doors opened at 8:30 am, which did not prevent
supporters from crowding around the Bell Centre at dawn to get the best seats
available to cheer on their favorite players in action.
This annual event allows fans to see the players and see them perform in various challenges
and skills competition. Many special guests, including Patrice Bélanger, Marc-André Grondin,
Dumas, Olivier Dion, Patrice Brisebois and representatives of the women’s hockey team the
Montreal STARS, were also on hand for the greatest pleasure of spectators.
Montreal Canadiens Skills Camp
These half-day camps taking place at the Bell Centre are designed to help Atom and Pee
wee players to improve different aspects of their game including skating, puck handling,
passing, shooting and an overview of off-ice training methods. Over the past season, 540 kids
participated enthusiastically in workouts and training sessions.

Filled with a sincere desire to contribute to the well-being of others,
members of the various areas of the organization are actively involved
with many community organizations. Whether it’s to help cure a disease,
support research, relieve suffering or poverty, encourage the adoption of
healthy lifestyles, all agree on the importance of the role the company plays
outside the rink and make a point of doing things that will make a difference
in the lives of others.
Inspired and dedicated team work throughout the year
Among the significant initiatives of the year, there was the
solidarity of the organization and its players during the LacMégantic tragedy. The Montreal Canadiens mobilized through
several initiatives to help the population afflicted by the events of
July 6, 2013. Between September 14 and October 3, the hockey
club and evenko invited disaster victims and Lac-Mégantic
first responders to attend the Habs training camp and the five
preseason games of the 2013-14 season at the Bell Centre. The
public was also invited to support the people from Lac-Megantic
by purchasing tickets to attend a special Canadiens players
intrasquad game in mid-September. All profits from this game
were donated to Lac-Mégantic Future Fund. On the occasion of the
game on September 15, 2013, vs. the Buffalo Sabres in Montreal,
a tribute to the victims of the tragedy of Lac-Mégantic was held
before the game. Finally, on October 3, 2013, the Habs traveled
to Lac-Mégantic to hold their training session at the Mégantic
Sports Centre. For its part, evenko also supported citizens of LacMégantic by organizing a benefit show featuring Garou, Louis-José
Houde, Isabelle Boulay, Coeur de pirate and several others at Bell
Centre on August 13, 2013.

$1,000 scholarship at the event presented at 9-4-10 restaurant in
the Bell Centre.
In January, forward George Parros chose to cut his hair to improve
the esteem of children with cancer who want a wig made of human
hair. He urged his supporters to do the same during the “Cutting
it for kids” day. People were invited to meet George and have him
sign items and take pictures with him in exchange for donations.
Nearly $3,000 was raised; half of the amount was handed over to the
Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation and the other half went to
the Childhood Leukemia Foundation, which also recovered hair from
participants.
Finally, we must underline the many post-game meet and greets
throughout the season between the Canadiens players and children
severely affected by the disease or experiencing difficulties that
seem insurmountable. Whether with the help of organizations
like the Children’s Wish Foundation, the Sunshine Foundation
of Canada or the Make-a-wish Foundation, at the request of a
pediatric care center, doctor or a family member, the organization
goes extra mile to bring to life these children’s dreams and wishes.

in and created a choir, featuring staff from the organization;
the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation, evenko and the
Bell Centre. The “Chorale DU Hockey” chose to sing S’il suffisait
d’aimer. Players were also put to contribution to the video by
singing the song finale. Supporters were invited to watch the
video and vote for it. Each $5 donation represented a vote for the
choir of their choice. The “Chorale DU Hockey” failed to make it
to the top of the chart, but it certainly provided one of the most
watched videos. The 25 choirs with the most votes as of April 30,
2014 received a $1,000 scholarship offered by evenko.

The players and their foundations
Beyond team activities, Canadiens players invest time and
energy into causes that are dear to them. In November 2011, Max
Pacioretty announced the establishment of a foundation that bears
his name and whose primary objective is to help the Foundation of
the Montreal General Hospital raise funds for the acquisition of a
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner for the Traumatic Brain
Injury Centre of the Montreal General Hospital/MUHC, a world
leader in the research and treatment of concussions. Other
players of the organization have also set up foundations to give
back to their community. Among these, the Prusty4kids with
Brandon Prust helps children with cancer through its Kids Kicking
Cancer program at Children’s Hospital London Health Sciences
Centre. The B3 Foundation with Francis Bouillon promotes the
practice of sports among young Quebecers and aims to provide a
framework for high-level athletes and those who have the potential
to become one.
The Montreal Canadiens Alumni
The Montreal Canadiens Alumni has five high profile ambassadors
with Jean Béliveau, Guy Lafleur, Henri Richard, Yvan Cournoyer,
Réjean Houle and more than 200 active members. These former
players who contributed to making the Canadiens the greatest
franchise in history continue this tradition and desire for excellence
by offering annually more than 2,000 hours in more than 300
appearances with various community initiatives throughout
Quebec.
Evenko, in the footsteps
of the Canadiens
Evenko is a Quebec company which has become the most
important independent promoter and producer in Canada.
Presenting more than 1,000 musical, family and sporting
events annually throughout the province of Quebec, Atlantic
Canada and the eastern United States, evenko plays host
to the biggest entertainers in the world and invests in the
development and promotion of Quebec artists. evenko is also
the creator and producer of two major festivals, the Osheaga
Music and Arts festival and Heavy MTL, which are held at Parc
Jean-Drapeau in Montreal.
Like the Montreal Canadiens, evenko is also making a
difference in the Quebec community with its many gestures
of generosity. It supports many non-profit organizations
by offering show tickets to raise additional funds for their
programs or to enable less fortunate people of all ages to
attend various musical and cultural events. It contributes
financially to various causes through fundraising initiatives
during shows at the Bell Centre and its participation in
various charitable endeavors.

On September 16, 2005, Youppi! made history by becoming
the first official mascot of the Montreal Canadiens. Full
member of the team, Youppi! supports the efforts of the
organization in community involvement.
Whether animating at Bell Centre games or at the team’s
public events, Youppi! participates with enthusiasm and
generosity to the delight of fans, young and old. Youppi!’s
presence is often a source of unique and magical moments.

PROGRAM
Each year, the donation in-kind program allows the Montreal Canadiens
to help hundreds of non-profit groups. By receiving autographed items
such as a cap, puck, stick or jersey for an auction, raffle or door prizes,
funds are raised and allow charities to continue their mission. During the
2013-14 season, more than 550 community organizations benefited from
the support of Montreal Canadiens, enabling them to collect more than a
