Our mission is to educate/train and generate meaningful employment opportunities for physically disabled veterans who
will excel at pro-actively cross selling personal lines insurance products on behalf of leading independent insurance agencies.
To The Readers of Dispatches,
This is an exciting time for DVIC as we prepare to start the hiring
and training of our first physically disabled veterans in Chicago. That
training is scheduled to commence in 2014, and will rapidly lead to two
productive veterans embarking on a meaningful career in the insurance
industry.
Our work is being made possible by the combined efforts and
contributions from the insurance industry, private foundations,
corporations, and private donors. Please see the inside and back of this
edition of Dispatches for a list of all of our donors to date. Of particular
noteworthiness is the development of our “No Man or Woman Left
Behind Society.” Please take a look at the article inside that lists recent
additions to the Society.
The mission of DVIC goes on and the need for assistance is still very real.

Beverly Messer
Beverly Messer, CIC, CRM, CISR, is a Senior Vice President at The National Alliance for
Insurance Education & Research in Austin, Texas. She joined The National Alliance in
2007 as a member of senior management and now has responsibility in Academic
Development for managing and maintaining the insurance education programs.
Beverly began her insurance career in 1975 with an independent agency in Indiana.
Her dedication and commitment to the insurance industry provided her the
opportunities to serve on various insurance carrier agency councils, association
boards, education foundations, and the Board of Governors for the Society of Certified
Insurance Counselors and the Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives.

NAMIC and Astonish Conferences in Seattle
and Las Vegas.
DVIC board members attend NAMIC and Astonish Conferences in
Seattle and Las Vegas. Funds and relationships were developed
at both. A special thanks to board members Steve White, Tom
Callanan, and Tom Dials for their tremendous help with the
NAMIC Conference and Adam DeGraide for his help with the
Astonish Conference.
Surf and Turf Experience fundraiser
BB&T Oswald Trippe & Co held the Surf and Turf Experience
fundraiser on October 18-20 at Tarpon Lodge and Marina on
Pine Island, Florida. It was a great time for outdoorsmen and
sports enthusiasts alike to compete in fishing and golfing
tournaments and dine on gourmet fare while also raising funds
for DVIC initiatives.
Punta Gorda Rotary Foundation
DVIC has been involved in many recent fundraising efforts
involving numerous presentations, corporate donations,
events, grants, and personal appeals. We accepted a $500
donation from the Punta Gorda Rotary Foundation.
