Selected as one of Turkey’s five most prestigious
fashion brands in 1996 Vakko was recently
designated the most recalled local luxury brand by
the market research company DORinsight.
History
Market
Fashion retailing is one of Vakko’s most important
areas. With the employment and exports it
creates, it is among the important sectors guiding
Turkey’s economy. Despite the economic
conjecture in Turkey and the world, the Turkish
ready-to-wear clothing sector closed 2014 with
growth much higher than the Turkish average. In
the period to come, it is expected to continue
this rapid growth with high added-value products
and services involving advanced, innovative
technologies. In Turkey, the two most important
influences in the sector’s growth are the number
high-income earners, which is growing faster
than the general population, and the large young
population.
The 2012 Market Vision Luxury report stresses
that interest in luxury products is growing
worldwide. Leading the markets in Asia, Latin
America and the Middle East in particular, this
growth far surpasses worldwide expected
economic growth. Half of the luxury products
sold worldwide are now bought by consumers in
developing markets, and Turkey is one of these
rapidly growing markets.
Achievements
Well-established fashion brand Vakko has scored
many successes and “firsts” over its 75-year
history. The holder of Turkey’s first-ever fashion
show, Vakko held the Anatolu Güneşi (‘Anatolian
Sun’) fashion and art show in 1981, the 100th
anniversary of Atatürk’s Birth. Blending Anatolian
cultures with a Western fashion concept, the
event turned into a true celebration of fashion;
exhibiting in Rome, Vienna, Brussels, Paris and
London, it introduced Europe to contemporary
Turkish fashion and Vakko.
In 1989, introducing its Vakko Superfine, Vakko
became the first fashion brand in Turkey to
produce chocolate, and led the birth of chocolate
culture in Turkey.
Weddings are among the most important
moments in people’s lives. 2001 marked the
