December 2012/January 2013
Dear BMS Families:
SCHOOL CALENDAR
2012/13
As we approach our Winter Break, it is that time of year to have
some reflection on the educational progress of your student. It is
also a good time to make sure your son or daughter is caught up
with their studies. Winter Break affords a great opportunity to
spend time with family, relax, and enjoy our great outdoors. It is
also a good time to get caught up in school and strengthen any
weaknesses identified this year. If you have concerns, please
contact your student’s teachers or myself.

take the students outside at lunch, chaperone trips, volunteer at
our athletic events, or any of the other odd jobs that so many

NOVEMBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to Stephanie Labioda, Kailey Wahrer and Izayik Anderson-Verser for being
named Bath Middle School’s Students of the Month for November 2012. The staff would
like to recognize them for consistently exhibiting our STING expectations. They are
academically successful, always completing assignments on time and of high quality,
participating in class, and putting forth a lot of effort. Teamwork and inclusiveness are
exhibited as they work well with their peers and the staff. They are noble, giving students
that truly make Bath Middle School a great place to work and learn. The staff appreciates the

HANDBOOK REVIEW
ATHLETICS — Weekly Eligibility – Faculty members will be asked to mark a weekly
eligibility list based on citizenship and/or academic factors. Academic factors include
probationary (“D”) or failing grades. An athlete will not be allowed to compete in an
interscholastic athletic contest if he/she is failing two or more classes or has any
combination of 3 academic/behavioral marks. Academic marks are measured from
the beginning of the term through Friday of the week before the competition. Note:
Ineligibility will include Monday through Saturday of the eligibility week. If a student
is ineligible, the coach will meet with the athlete to discuss his/her playing status.
ATHLETIC ATTENDANCE— Athletes are required to be in school the entire day of
an athletic event or practice. Athletes may not participate in practice or competition if
they are marked absent for any period during the day unless the absence has been
prearranged and the athletic department has been notified or official documentation
for the absence is provided to the athletic office. Coaches will receive attendance
records prior to practice/competition to ensure that the attendance policy is enforced.
THANK YOU!

BATH MIDDLE SCHOOL FALL 2012 SCHOLAR
ATHLETES
Sixty-eight percent of fall athletes were recognized for their excellence in the classroom and on the court/field/course at half time
of the staff versus the 8th grade boys basketball game. A huge thank you to the Bath Athletic Boosters for recognizing the athletes
who were on the honor roll with a t-shirt and for supplying all of our athletes with a Bath gym bag.
We appreciate the Bath Athletic Boosters support and commitment to academics, as well as athletics.
