What’s up with FCCLA!?
By: Gina Gilsdorf
Monday, all FCCLA members and their advisor, Mrs. Reisdorph, traveled to Litchfield, MN for their
region meeting where they presented their STAR events . Everyone who participated at regions qualified for
state which will be held in Bloomington on April 16-18.
The boys Senior Buzz team consisting of Sam, Austin, Michael
and Jordan (at right) were the only team at the meeting meaning they didn’t have to compete and they are moving on to state where they will get to
compete against other teams answering FCCLA-related questions.
FCCLA members Kassidy, Kayla and Sharon hosted a bake sale at
the girls’ game on January 27, for their FCCLA star event. Big thanks to
everyone who supported them to make their bake sale successful! They
raised a total of $203.25 which is going towards the CGB FCCLA Club.

Super Bowl:More than Football
By: Tanner Teske
Super Bowl XLIX took place last
Sunday with the New England Patriots
defeating the Seattle Seahawks with a
score of 28-24.
During halftime and timeouts, many commercials were broadcast at an expense of $4.5 million dollars for 30 seconds. Popular commercials include the
number one rated commercial by USA Today, Budweiser’s “Lost Dog” commercial that played during the
second quarter. Coming in at number two was feminine
product Always’ “Like a Girl” ad. Other good ads included Skittles “Settle It,” the always popular Doritos
commercials and the Clash of Clans commercial.
Katy Perry entertained people during halftime by
singing many of her popular
songs and making a dramatic
entrance on top of a large
tiger or lion (you decide)
while singing “Roar.” Her
performance also included
cartoon sharks, surfboards,
beach balls and plenty of costume changes.

Boys Sports Summary

The effort was extreme at the Monday, February 2 game against Rosholt and JH basketball came
out with a win. The JV and the varsity played a good
game but lost. The girls basketball team played very
well and put in a lot of effort on Friday, January 30.
Unfortunately both teams came out with a loss.
The basketballers have upcoming games and
they want you to come and cheer for them! Be there
or be square, tonight at Hancock, Friday, February 6
at Ashby and February 7, at NDSCS against Kindred.
The gymnastics team has been working very
hard and attended an invitation meet on Saturday, January 31 against Deuel. They tried their hardest, but
came up short. Tonight, the Gymnasts will be going to
Hendricks RTR, which is one
of the new teams in our section.
The boys basketball team
has been very busy lately. They
played Rosholt last Thursday and
lost. They played Wheaton on
January 30 where they lost a close
one 74-75 in overtime and KMS
on February 3, where they won 55-44. Their next game
is at home against Ortonville on February 6 so be sure
to come cheer on the boys to a Wolverine victory!
The wrestlers have also
been very busy this past week.
They wrestled in Morris on
January 29 where they won 4926 and they were in Pelican
Rapids on January 30 where
they won 48-13. Their next
competition is a tournament
on February 10.

Three members of NHS will be doing their projects this week and next. Rachael and
Paul are “Pieing the Seniors” and Bobby is collecting “Pennies for Patients.” So, go get your
change and put it in the buckets.
It is highly recommended that all seniors complete a job shadow before graduation.
Juniors may start working on this as well. Mrs. Wahl can help you set up your job shadow if you need assistance or you can set it up yourself. Mrs. Wahl has the parent permission form for job shadowing so please
see her for that.
All juniors will be taking the ACT on April 28 at CGB High School. Morris Area Community Education is once again hosting a 5– hour ACT Prep seminar. It is April 12 from 12:30-6 pm. Register online
at <http://www.morris.k12.mn.us/page/2982> or by calling 320-589-4394.
