In late 2002, the office was commissioned to assist German DIY store chain
Hornbach to establish itself on the Swedish market. The stores in Gothenburg
and Malmö were the first projects realised in Sweden. Establishment in
Stockholm began in 2005 and is now proceeding at a tremendous pace.
The markets are between 17 500 m2 and 23 500 m2 in area and are in
excellent strategic locations along major traffic routes or motorways.
The stores are divided into three different buildings: a construction market
more than 9000 m2 in area, a gardening section with associated outdoor displays,
and a large Drive In hall. A large number of parking spaces and functional
customer logistics are vital for this building market.
For these projects, Semrén & Månsson is acting as architect in accordance
with the German HOAI approach, i.e. project development (site analysis,
production of detailed plans, etc.), concept development with regard to Swedish
standards and regulations, applications for planning permission, procurement
of contractors, building inspection during the construction period and review of
relational documentation.
