TO OUR MEMBERS, OWNERS, AND AFFILIATES
2015
The “RRHA Family of Companies” is composed of two not-for-profit and two for-profit organizations; all
four of these companies have basically the same goals – to help their members provide the highest
quality services at the lowest possible cost, while maintaining the highest levels of quality care to those
they serve in their communities. The Rochester Regional Healthcare Association and Rochester Regional
Healthcare Advocates, and our two group purchasing organizations, RRHA Joint Ventures Corporation
and Seagate Alliance, are all focused on helping their members meet their missions through information
sharing, advocacy, cost containment, and value added services. The success of each of these
organizations is only achievable with the participation of our members, owners, and affiliates—without
their active involvement we would not be able to provide these services.
The trade association components, Rochester Regional Healthcare Association and Rochester Regional
Healthcare Advocates, remain at the core of the Family of Companies. Through these organizations, the
seventeen hospitals, and related healthcare systems in the nine-county Rochester region, work together
bringing forth information about issues they are facing and successes they have had in addressing a
multitude of federal, state, and local challenges. The information exchanged between our members is
shared with the Healthcare Association of New York State, the American Hospital Association and—as
appropriate—with the other regional associations across the state, and even our counterparts in other
parts of the country through the Conference of Metropolitan Hospital Associations.
Whether it is working on the development of major pieces of legislation or regulation, or figuring out
how to implement those already in place, working together provides our members across the
continuum with the best chance for success—both collectively and individually—despite the competitive
marketplace. Collaboration in the face of competition works, because behind it, all the missions of our
members are almost identical—to provide access to the highest quality healthcare and healthcare
related services at the lowest possible cost, in the most appropriate setting. Each of our members’
missions is geared toward meeting the healthcare needs of their communities. The major constant, with
very few exceptions, is that all healthcare is local.
Our two group purchasing organizations work seamlessly to provide their collective members with
access to the best service and pricing available. The RRHA Joint Ventures Corporation is owned by, and
serves the needs of, all of the members of the Association and Advocates, plus many others in
communities both within and outside our nine-county region by providing a resource for the purchase of
goods and services not available through the large national GPOs.

Seagate Alliance is owned by a different diverse group of not-for-profit hospitals, health systems, long
term care and other healthcare related organizations across New York State. Seagate provides access to
national group purchasing and services through Premier Inc., with a membership that is located
primarily in New York State, but also has members in twenty-two other states across the country. These
two organizations have combined contract volumes of approximately $350 million.
As the healthcare market continues to evolve, so does the makeup of our collective membership. Our
purchasing companies are continuing to expand in the education and hospitality markets—bringing new
opportunities and broadening our contract offerings.
While each of the organizations within our “Family of Companies” has a distinct and separate role,
working together brings greater value to our collective memberships than any one of these
organizations alone could bring. Setting competition aside and focusing on common mission in a
multitude of collaborative ways provides our collective membership with a great deal of power to get
things accomplished for the communities they serve.
2015
ROCHESTER REGIONAL HEALTHCARE ADVOCATES
RRHAdvocates continued to work closely with the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS)
and the American Hospital Association (AHA) to represent our member hospitals and their related
components in both Albany and Washington on regulatory and legislative issues. The key to our past and
future success on issues continues to be the ability to unite our members’ voices into one
message—creating a strength and credibility that any one of these organizations individually would not
be able to achieve. Again, we thank you, our members, for your continued support—we can’t do it
without you!
We would like to thank Fred Farley of Arnot Health, our 2015 Regional PAC Co-chairs, for his leadership.
Our region achieved 73% of its goal with participation from 93% of our member organizations! Thank
you for your outstanding support! We look forward to continued success in our PAC fundraising for 2016
and beyond.
ROCHESTER REGIONAL HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATION
The mission of the RRHAssociation is to serve the membership through leadership and support of
initiatives, which will lead to continuous improvement in the way healthcare is organized, delivered,
financed, and viewed by our communities. Our multi-faceted committee structure is how we meet and

support this mission. In 2015 we held 33 peer committee meetings. Feedback from member
representatives on these committees was shared with HANYS, and the AHA as appropriate. These
meetings continue to be the basis for many of the efforts undertaken by the Advocates, our “sister”
company.
The Association continued to produce the Hospital Utilization Graphs (HUG Reports) on a monthly basis
for a segment of the membership in 2015. Another member service that continued this year was the
support of eight different salary and related human resource surveys conducted in conjunction with the
Iroquois Healthcare Alliance and the Western New York Healthcare Association.
In 2015, the Association also provided the membership with renewed and updated RRHA
Community-wide Transfer Agreement which is effective for the three-year period January 1, 2016
through December 31, 2018. In addition to the renewal and updating of this agreement, RRHA worked
with members to complete the Kessler Burn Transfer Agreement.
The Association was also the recipient of another Bioterrorism Hospital Preparedness Program grant,
with deliverables that allowed the Association to support the emergency preparedness efforts of our
members and continue support of the RRHA Mutual Aid Evacuation, Supply, and Staffing Plan with
quarterly updates.
RRHAssociation has a unique partnership with the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Association, where we share
our Director of Quality and Education. Under this arrangement we are able to provide support for the
Quality Compendium and quarterly Quality Newsletter for both memberships, as well as joint
educational programs. The memberships of both regions have benefitted greatly from this approach to
sharing expertise, cost, and information with our collective members. We look forward to having more
joint educational programs in 2016.
There were several programs initiated in support of our members’ needs in 2015, including the
RRHA/WNYHA Joint Compliance Seminar in May, which brought together representatives from hospitals
in both the RRHA and the WNYHA regions to hear and learn from speakers from the OIG, OMIG, MFCU,
and various legal counsel. Other well attended special events hosted for members included a “Cyber
Security Program” presented by Robert Trusiak, Esq. in September; and two joint programs with the
Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council on “Lateral Violence in Nursing” presented by Ken Kruger and Karen
Papas; as well as a presentation from the New York State Action Coalition’s Future of Nursing presented
by Debbie Stamps.
The Association also partnered with the Healthcare Trustees of New York State to bring trustee
educational programs to the region including one program featuring Jamie Orlikoff, nationally renowned
healthcare speaker and consultant. These programs provided trustees, CEO, CFOs and other healthcare
leadership with an opportunity to learn together about the impact on their organizations related to
state and federal budget proposals, as well as other legislative and regulatory issues and the rapidly
changing healthcare marketplace. The value of these programs is evidenced by continued attendance
and enthusiasm coupled with similar programs gaining participation in other regions of the state.

We want to thank all the representatives from our members’ organizations for their continued active
participation in these and other activities of the Association. Continued member participation attests to
the value of the Association and drives its success.

2015
OUR GROUP PURCHASING COMPANIES
Continued growth and financial success for our two purchasing companies, Seagate Alliance and the
RRHA Joint Ventures Corporation, marked the year 2015. We continue to strategically co-market these
two companies in order to offer access to regional contracts not offered by the large national GPOs, and
access to national GPO contracts with Premier through Seagate. This approach helps our combined
memberships have access to the best pricing and
service possible.
The successful growth of our companies is the
direct result of the efforts of our Sales and
Marketing and Supply Chain Solutions staff, which
brings us new members, new contracts, and
increased contract participation from the
membership.
Both RRHA Joint Ventures Corporation and
Seagate Alliance pride themselves on providing members with a model that focuses on service, working
with member organization(s) as an extension of their staff—ready to provide needed resources to assist
them in managing costs. Our members indicated, through responses to surveys, tremendous satisfaction
with both our organizations!
We believe this satisfaction is the result of our work with the members through the committee structure
(laboratory, food service, supply, pharmacy, and the various subcommittees) and the continued
individual interaction of our staff with
representatives from member organizations.
These meetings and individual contacts provide
invaluable guidance to the JVC/Seagate team of
professionals—helping to ensure the direction
of our companies is truly member driven and
responsive to the needs of our membership.
We want to provide a special thank you to the

committee participants along with their chairs. Their
guidance, along with that of the JVC Board of Directors
and the Seagate Board of Managers, keeps your
purchasing companies poised to continue to help you as
you face increased regulations and reduced
reimbursements in an ever changing marketplace. We
will continue to focus on our goals of maximizing value
and cost savings, sustaining financial viability, and
maintaining customer/member/staff satisfaction as a
leading service organization for our members.
RRHA JOINT VENTURES CORPORATION
RRHA Joint Ventures Corporation continued to function as a niche group purchasing organization
managing and developing very cost effective local/regional contracts and brokered services that are not
available to our members through their national group purchasing organizations. The financial success
of JVC is clearly a result of the members’ support of JVC regional contracts as well as the continued
growth of the organization through the addition of the new member organizations that join JVC each
year.
We wish to thank our member committees for
their support and guidance. These committees
truly are the lifeblood of our regional contracting
program. JVC continues to be a key component of
the portfolio of services within our family of
companies as we collectively strive to assist the
membership in managing costs.
As our membership continues to move forward
with new service models and massive changes in regulation and legislation, we will continue to do
everything we can to be sure JVC is there to continue to serve its ever growing membership.

SEAGATE ALLIANCE
Seagate has participants in twenty-three states and we are still growing!
2015—Another very successful year for Seagate Alliance, its owners and affiliates. Once final data is in,
we expect the total purchasing volume through Seagate, on both regional and national contracts, to
settle at more than $300 million, with participants in twenty-three states.
As successful as Seagate has been in keeping “pricing at the pump” low for its members, Seagate
created even more opportunity to bring even better pricing at the pump to its membership by finding a
collaborative partner that would allow Seagate to remain an independent owner of Premier and be able
to continue their current independent revenue stream, while increasing value and lowering pricing for
its members.
In January 2013, Seagate entered into a collaborative
partnership with GNYHA Ventures Corporation. This
partnership continues to provide Seagate membership
with access to enhanced tier pricing that is the best in
the country, as a result of combining Seagate’s volume
with the more than $4 billion of GNYHA Venture’s
Premier volume. This partnership has proven to be
very successful and continues to provide Seagate
members with increasing numbers of aggregation
savings opportunities. We continue to explore every
opportunity afforded by this partnership, and we look forward to continuing successes in 2016 and
beyond.

The Premier structural changes that occurred in 2013 resulted in a change in our revenue stream from
Premier. However, it also unlocked our investment in Premier and allows us to have access to the value
of that investment over time. Seagate remains an owner of Premier and looks forward to the continuing
evolution of Premier under this new corporate structure and the value it will bring to its owners.
Seagate’s success has allowed it to continue to make owner distributions as an added value to its
owners and we plan to continue doing so going forward.

The value of collaboration by the diverse members of our healthcare and healthcare related community
once again demonstrated that by working together we can have continued successes in our advocacy
program, our trade association, our regional niche purchasing company, and our national GPO
partnership with Premier. The efforts of all of our companies are focused on assisting our diverse
membership in improving access to, and quality of, the services provided in communities across our ever
expanding service area. Special thanks to all our board members, acute and non-acute healthcare and
healthcare related staff and committee members who have capably guided our companies in this past
year. The RRHA Family of Companies looks forward to serving you next year and for many years to
