I discovered how good ginger tasted when I had sushi for the first time. To me it tastes half
●
spicy and peppery, half lemony, slightly sweet but pungent. Once I found
that I like the
flavor of ginger I started eating ginger candy and drinking ginger tea. My hubby had been
stationed in Germany when he was in the army and he told me about the ginger beer that
he tried there. He said it was similar to ginger ale but hotter. Of course I had to try some
and of course I loved it! I haven’t had any in a while but I went to Whole Foods the other
day and found Reed’s Ginger Brew. I bought the Original Ginger Brew which was their first
creation, and is a Jamaican recipe for homemade ginger ale using 17 grams of fresh ginger
root, lemon, lime, honey, fructose, pineapple, herbs and spices.

Ginger
Brew which
is the same
recipe, but
has 25
grams of
fresh
ginger root
for a
stronger
bite and
the Reed’s
Premium
Ginger
Brew that has the wholesome ingredients version of Reed’s Original Ginger Brew, sweetened
only with honey and pineapple juice. The Original and Premium are labeled as Ginger Ale
but I can’t tell any similarity to the ginger ale’s that you find in your local grocery or
convenience store. Here are the other Ginger Brews that they sell:
* Reeds Raspberry Ginger Brew is brewed from 17 grams of fresh ginger root, raspberry
juice, and lime. It is 20% raspberry juice and sweetened with fruit juice and fructose.
* Reed’s Spiced Apple Brew uses 8 grams of fresh ginger root, the finest tart German apple
juice, and such apple pie spices as cinnamon, cloves, and allspice. Spiced Apple Brew is
50% apple juice and sweetened with fruit juice and fructose.
* Reed’s Cherry Ginger Brew Freshly brewed from: sparkling filtered water, fructose,22
grams of fresh ginger root, cherry juice from concentrate, and spices.
Reed’s Ginger Brews are a revival of the lost art of brewing soft drinks.
Before the advent of processed foods, soft drinks were hand-crafted in
individual batches. This craftsman- like approach delivered a more natural,
healthful, and superior-tasting non-alcoholic beverage.
Using the same skills that go into a fine microbrew or wine, Reeds is actually
brewed in a brewery, where our expert brewmasters control every step of the
process. The ingredients and process are so expensive, no reasonable
business people would do it (even if they could figure out how). However, we
are happy to lack reason in this regard, and that’s why we have become the
top-selling beverage in the natural foods industry.
Our brewing process is based on the kind of home-kitchen recipes for soft
drinks and tonics that were used before the first commercial soft drinks
appeared around 1850. Modern sodas, even so-called “natural” ones, are
made in bottling plants, by blending water, carbonation, sweeteners,
colorings, and flavorings. Reed’s is completely different, since it is brewed
directly from roots, herbs, spices, and fruits. All the ginger you taste in
Reed’s brews, for example, comes from actual fresh ginger root, one of the
finest tonic roots available.
Reed’s is environmentally friendly. Not only do we avoid the solvents used to
create high tech flavorings, our brews are packaged in recycled bottles.
The fresh ginger, fruit juices, whole spices and sweeteners are brewed and
aged in vats. In the old days, carbonation was gained by fermenting the
mixture. However, this tends to create an alcoholic beverage, so we simply
add the carbonation during bottling. Many former alcoholics have found

after giving up soda for 2 years was not getting my sugar lol
I started having a queasy stomach lately and remembered my mom use to give us ginger ale to
drink so now I’m on a vernors ginger ale kick.
I would love to try them all but my first choice would be the REED’S Crystallized Ginger Candy &

these would be nice when you need something smoothing but don’t have or can’t have the liquid.
