field trips at Laser Quest
how field trips benefit students
Field trips are recognized as important moments in learning; a shared social
experience that provides students the opportunity to encounter and explore novel
things in an authentic setting.
At Laser Quest, we combine the classic games of hide-and-seek and tag with a high
tech twist. We offer unique learning experiences for students through our Quest for
Knowledge educational field trips, and many teachers have mentioned that our
programs are a natural extension of their in-school curriculum.
As learning outcomes from field trips can range from cognitive to affective, we have
created our programs to support the following:
• Expose students to new experiences and increase interest and engagement in
S.T.E.M. related content regardless of prior interest in the topic.
• Encourage affective gains such as more positive feelings towards S.T.E.M.
• Enable experiences that can be recalled and useful long after their Laser Quest
visit.
Learning during field trips is impacted by many factors, including its structure. Our
excursions are designed to be educational, yet not overly rigid or too aligned with
classroom instruction which can have a negative effect. The Quest for Knowledge
field trip schedule will encourage students in the area of “joint productive activity”.
This includes the opportunity for students to be cognitively engaged and challenged,
as they explore areas of personal interest and curiosity and participate in bidirectional
communication with each other and the Laser Quest team. The pre-visit lesson plans
provided will adequately prepare them for their learning experience.
We are not just a venue to host the best birthday parties. Whether you are looking
for an educational excursion or a fun outing that will have your students and teachers
beaming, Laser Quest is the place to be!

Leadership
LEADERSHIP
PROGRAM
The Leadership program emphasizes the importance of character trait development
and values for young leaders. Not only is it fun and educational, it helps reinforce
the significance of being good leaders in everything we do. Students will learn
about the four universal character traits of effective leaders: Inclusion, Innovation,
Integrity and Responsibility.
The program includes two specially designed games of Laser Quest, and an
interactive Leadership presentation which utilizes the Laser Quest game and
facility as the basis for learning. Students will be encouraged to identify
behaviours they would like to change in order to improve their own leadership in
their daily lives once they leave Laser Quest.
THE QUEST FOR KNOWLEDGE IS
NO ORDINARY FIELD TRIP
Help your students develop their leadership skills with the Quest for Knowledge
Leadership program and give them a field trip that’s not only educational but fun
and impactful too!

testimonials
“Our school has taken 9 classes on this field trip in the past 2 years and all of
the students have thoroughly enjoyed the day. The games and lecture sessions
were a creative way to acquire knowledge of the general and specific expectations
of the curriculum. It is truly an educational experience that will help improve the
delivery of the optics unit.”
- Eddie D., Science Teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas
"With approximately 200 students, we attended your location. Our students
thoroughly enjoyed the experience and talked about it for several days
afterwards. Playing laser tag was something that they never expected to do on
a science field trip, and they had a great time using their knowledge of reflection
and refraction during their second game. We had decided to use the trip as a
source of review for our students, and the lesson provided was a fantastic way
to reinforce what they had learned in class. The demonstrations used during the
lesson were also a great way to engage students and get them to do some
critical thinking. I would highly recommend this program to all teachers.”
- Alex S., Science Teacher at St. Aloysius Gonzaga

testimonials
“We’ve held our Laser Quest trip at your establishment for two years now and
each year the students have had a great time. Not only is it enjoyable and
interactive for them, it applies directly to the curriculum for the optics unit.”
- The Science Staff at J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate
“We were delighted to learn about your program earlier this year when we were
looking for fun and educational opportunities for our students in the area of
optics. Frequently we have difficulty finding a program which our students will
buy into as they have limited financial resources and would rather spend the
money elsewhere. We did not have this problem with your program! The lesson
on optics was well delivered and the students were engaged during it. Their
participation was encouraged in a positive way and the students took away the
principles of reflection and refraction. Most of our students were able to speak
knowledgeably about the topic when they were asked about it after our visit. The
materials you provided for pre and post visit were also well received and very
helpful. Our second semester students are already asking if they will be going
to Laser Quest too! We look forward to our visit later this semester.”
- Laura H. Science Department Head at Monsignor Johnson

testimonials
“I appreciated the opportunity to teach students about laser technology using a
fun, interactive method like the “Light and Sound” program. The information
and learning my students gathered at Laser Quest was a great addition to the
lessons I had already presented as well as the information I would continue to
teach after the presentation.”
- The Science Staff at Oak Valley School
“On behalf of my class, thank you for the awesome Lasers and Mazes field trip!
This will definitely be a highlight learning experience for my students this year.
The lessons taught at Lasers & Mazes coincide with the scientific method that I
teach in my classroom daily. This is a fantastic extension and application of the
skills we are learning. In addition, the kids loved learning about the uses of
lasers and the history of mazes.”
- Michael C. at Sunnyside Elementary School
“Our 10th grade students recently attended the Quest for Knowledge Program
at Laser Quest as a culminating activity for the Optics strand. Despite having a
large group of students, everything was well organized and progressed
smoothly. While half the students played their laser tag games, the friendly and
energetic staff kept the other half of our group entertained with team building
games. The students had a great time and our teachers were pleased that the
students could competently demonstrate and apply their knowledge about light,
optical phenomenon and lasers in the theory part of the program. We also took
advantage of their pre and post event activities that are provided in the teacher
guide, to maximize student learning. The personalized ‘Welcome Earl of March’
sign was appreciated. See you next semester, LaserQuest!”
- Sherry L. Earl of March Secondary School
“One of the best ways to involve students in discovery is to enrich them with a
field trip to an institution which operates on the very premises of theory that
they have been studying. One of the best field trips I have found for Grade 9
Optics is Laser Quest.”
- The Science Staff at Amigos School
