2013 - 2014 board of directors
Greetings to All,
Welcome to Alamance County’s newest and hottest event! As a non-profit
organization, it is always frightening to leave one successful event behind in
order to embark on a journey less known. We wish to gratefully
acknowledge last year’s encouraging level of support that ushered Captain
White’s Lowcountry BASH onto the Alamance County scene. Many thanks
to E.W. Fulcher and Catering Works of Raleigh for bringing the taste and the
spirit of the Lowcountry to Captain White’s BASH.
This annual fall event is the major fundraising occasion for the Alamance
County Arts Council and your support is invaluable for the continuation of
its programming. Your presence tonight reconfirms your commitment to the
arts and we thank you so very much for being here.
The 2013 Lowcountry Bash Committee extends special appreciation to all
the volunteers, art patrons, artists and area businesses for joining us in
making tonight’s event a success. We could not present this remarkable
evening without you.
Please do have a wonderful time. Bid, sip, shuck and shag for the Arts.
Best wishes,

Fund A Need!
We need your help to enhance the lives of local school children and young
adults through three vital arts education programs. The 2013 Captain
White’s Lowcountry Bash Committee selected this cause as our Fund a
Need this evening. This year, we received a $2,000 grant from Target to
assist our theater education program, Go Live, but that is only a small part
of the puzzle we are yet to complete. We need an additional $10,000 to
successfully carry out the rest of our educational programs. Our auctioneer
will request financial support from everyone here tonight for this very
worthwhile endeavor.
Ramp It Up is a successful program which pairs local artists with after
school children to provide enrichment activities once a month, such as
shaping clay into bowls or weaving textiles. The program benefits the
students by nurturing innate creativity, building skills in communications,
problem-solving and group dynamics and instilling in them a new
enthusiasm for school.
Go Live brings a live performance experience to every second grader in
Alamance County. An acting troupe performs a well-known story such as
The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. Then the students receive curriculum
connections in their classroom by local theater professionals. This year, the
Children’s Theater of Charlotte performed Hansel and Gretel and Jeff Aguiar
of Burning Coal Theatre Co. (Raleigh, NC) carried out student and teacher
workshops.
High School Scholarships are offered each year to students planning to
further their education in one of the arts disciplines. Our newest scholarship
honors the recently passed James Wilson, who was the founder and driving
force behind Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre. The scholarships are awarded
to four seniors in the amount of $500 each.
Your financial contributions toward Fund A Need help to ensure that these
arts education programs reach these children and young adults who might
not have had the opportunity otherwise.
Raise your bid boards and support the arts!
Auction terms and procedures
Silent Auction
A bid sheet and description is located next to each item. Write your bid number and
the amount you wish to bid on the sheet. The amount must meet the minimum bid
and be raised in increments as noted on the bid sheet to be valid. Invalid amounts
will be disqualified. Silent auction items shall be awarded to the person with the
highest bid at the close of the auction. The silent auction will close just prior to the
start of the live auction.
Live Auction
To enter a bid, the bidder must raise their bid card to attract the auctioneer’s
attention. There will be people on the floor to assist the auctioneer in spotting bids.
The Live Auction will begin promptly at 9:15 pm. The highest bid acknowledged by
the auctioneer shall be the winning bid of the live auction item. The auctioneer will
be the sole judge and retain the option of resuming the bidding. The decision of the
auctioneer will be final on any matter of procedure.
Collection, Redemption & Payment
Settlement for purchases may be with cash, check, or credit card. At the close of
the Live Auction, you may check out with cashiers for all auction purchases. Merchandise may be picked up after payment has been made. For items that are not
on site, you will receive a gift certificate. Mutually agreeable dates for services and
vacations should be arranged between buyer and donor. Please make reservations
or other arrangements as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Restrictions
Any restrictions applicable to auction items are set forth on the bid sheet. Unless
otherwise noted, all items and services must be used within one year from the
date of the auction.
In celebration of the new and exciting Captain White’s Lowcountry Bash, the
committee is pleased to present these fabulous items for our auction.
As you know, Captain White’s Lowcountry Bash is the Alamance County Arts
Council’s most important fundraising event of the year. It is through this evening for
the arts that we are able to sustain the many educational, performing, and visual
arts programs that are offered to the Alamance County community.
Please bid well, bid high, and enjoy!
