Multi Roll Systems
Extruders
Killion extruders are designed for use in both laboratory and production environments. All models are
engineered to allow for a wide variety of custom components and options enabling their use in a range
of applications.
• Extruder sizes range from a 1/2-inch (13mm) to 3 1/2-inch (90mm).
• Available as bench, adjustable height, tilt and swing, or fixed height stand-alone machines.
• Grooved feed throats and vented barrels can be fitted to extruders. Melt pumps and screw mixing
devices are available for specialized applications.
• FPV (filter pressure value) pump available to improve quality control of polymer additive and
color testing.
• Equipped with heavy-duty gearboxes and thrust bearings. Low gear tooth velocity and noise
reduction design for quiet operation.
• Can be manufactured to any specification to accommodate corrosive polymers, high temperature
materials and non-thermoplastics.
• OEM versions available.
Dedicated Blown Film Line
Downstream/Specialty Equipment
A range of versatile downstream equipment including sheet extrusion units, vacuum sizing tanks, water
troughs, winders, laminators, coaters, dies, and pelletizers is available. All of our downstream units may
be retrofitted into an existing line or purchased as part of a system. Following are some examples.
HORIZONTAL THREE-ROLL STACK
This roll stack is engineered for applications with low melt-strength materials such as polyester. It is
ideal for narrow web applications, film coating configurations, casting, laminating, and sheet processes.
Examples of successful applications include unique packaging structures involving multilayer polymers,
multi-material wound structures, and multilayer drug delivery products.
• Available in sizes ranging from 12 to 30 inches (300 to 760mm) wide.
• Each roll independently servo driven with precise roll dimensions and roll gaps.
• Machine can be supplied independently or as part of a complete extrusion line.
• Available with single and twin screw extruders, and in single and multilayer configurations.
KXP HORIZONTAL ROLL FILM COATING/LAMINATING SYSTEM
Available with three or four rolls, this system is designed for producing intricately layered structures
used in medical products, lithium batteries and other demanding multilayer and monolayer film or thin
sheet applications.
• High nip pressure option of 800 pli (pounds per linear inch) of force between the two primary rolls.
• High pressure laminating option for the auxiliary rubber roll with an operating pressure of up to
200 pli.
• Special configurations available for maintaining exact roll diameters, concentricity and roll gap.
• Complete system including extruders, payoffs/unwinds, and take-ups/winders available.
High Pressure Laminator
KXE FPV PUMP
The FPV pump improves quality control testing of compounds by providing accurate and repeatable
pressure control. This is an essential tool for compounders, especially color compounders, as it provides a
filter pressure value (FPV) to quantify the level of resin dispersibility. The FPV value helps compounders
maintain product consistency and provides a standardized, globally-recognized method of comparing one
product to another.
• Available as an integrated component on a new laboratory extrusion system or as a stand-alone
unit for attachment to an existing extruder.

FEEDSCREWS
Our feedscrews are superior in design, construction, and versatility. Output is maximized and
melt temperature is controlled while thoroughly homogenizing the polymer melt. Each feedscrew
is manufactured on the basis of individual customer parameters encompassing output rate, melt
temperature, pressure requirements, output consistency of extruder stability, melt homogeneity,
and melt quality.

CONTROLS & LIMS
Davis-Standard is one of the leaders in advanced process control systems for the plastics and rubber
industries. The EPIC III™ color touch-screen operator interface and supervisory control system features
patented dual-thermocouple control, responsive closed loop line control with an “operator friendly”
graphical interface featuring pictorial control screens, trending, SPC/SQC networking and other data
acquisition capabilities.
Our Data-Pack system is especially suited to laboratory use (LIMS). All systems are custom
engineered in-house for system reliability.

24/7 CUSTOMER SERVICE/AFTERMARKET SERVICES
We have service technicians available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to handle parts inquiries
and emergency service needs. Parts shipments, if in stock, can be shipped within one day. We
maintain complete mechanical and spare parts inventories ranging from feedscrews and barrels to
thermocouples and motors. On-site service by a technician is also available. We provide aftermarket
