Introduction
What is Yandex
•  Yandex is the leading search engine in Russia.
•  It has nearly 60% market share in Russia with a stronghold in
Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Turkey.
•  Yandex is better for Russian language search. Yandex was created
specifically for the Russian market and is better able to parse user
intent over spelling in the Russian language.
•  Yandex also offers searches in English which means you have a
potential to extract traffic from Russia.

Yandex Algorithm
•  MatrixNet is Russia’s page priority algorithm (similar to PageRank).
•  It measures site popularity and the sum and relevancy of backlinks to
determine a thematic index citation (TIC) score which plays into
MatrixNet.
•  TIC is scored on a scale of 0-10,000 and is same for every page on
the website so it is not page-by-page like PageRank.
•  A plugin called Yandex Elements will allow you to see this score:

Report Spam
•  Yandex’s algorithm solely looks at user

Site Region
•  Yandex wants you to specify a site region
for your website. This is because Yandex
employs different ranking algorithms in
different regions, and the regional
affiliation of a site is one of the factors
that's taken into account during the
ranking process.
•  If you don’t have a clear regional affiliation,
it may reduce the ability of the site to rank
in certain areas.

they detect a virus on your site. Each
message includes a link for more detailed
information:
