Introducing.. Michelle Thompson
1.
I am currently the British Hairdressing Awards Afro Hairdresser of
the Year as well as Stylist of the Year and Colourist of the Year at the Black
Beauty Sensationnel Hair Awards 2015. This year has been a complete
whirlwind for me and to be recognised by not only your peers and
industry icons but the entire hairdressing industry is something
I can’t even describe – I am truly delighted to receive
these accolades and will keep on pushing boundaries
throughout my career.

I am an educator - education to me is the backbone of the hairdressing
industry. Within Francesco Group and the hairdressing industry as a whole,
constant education is key to pushing the boundaries. I provide courses
specifically for Afro hair both internally and externally. I also work closely
with Mizani/Redken and Avlon Keracare to provide training to stylists up and
down the country. These courses range from Afro Cut and Finish, Identifying
Hair Textures and Types and a Relaxer Class. It is such a fulfilling experience
and I love every minute of it!

I play a major role in the Francesco Group Creative Team. Alongside
fellow members; Anya, Claire, James, Melvyn and Mia, I work to develop
our collaborative ideas for our annual branded collection shoots, as well as
deliver the latest trends to our fellow team members at Francesco Group.
Working as a unit gives us the chance to each provide our own personal
input and create something extremely special. Our latest branded collection
is called #timetoshine and has received coverage all over the world. Being
part of this team is a great accolade and I am delighted to be part of this.

I work with all types of hair. Even though my speciality is predominately
Afro hair I am fully trained and fully qualified in all hair types and textures,
something that very few people offer clients within salons up and down the
UK. Each day in the salon is never the same and having such a mixture of
skills allows my days to be different and of course constantly evolve my
skills in different areas.

people on a daily basis.“

I absolutely love what I do. I always wake up looking forward to the
day ahead and providing my clients with the upmost in customer service
and skills. Having a connection with your client and transforming them really
makes me proud and gives me such a buzz. Every day can be so varied.
One day I could be doing clients, the next I could be teaching, delivering a
Seminar or doing a photo shoot. I am privileged to work with such a fantastic
team of people and I wouldn’t change anything about my work – here’s to
a fantastic 2016!

Michelle has been doing my hair now for over six years and I would not use a another hairdresser. She

Michelle Thompson is an absolutely fantastic hair stylist. She has been doing my hair for well over 5 years,
and I will never go elsewhere. Her ability to always know what suits me, whilst constantly maintaining the
strength and integrity of my hair, has earned my loyalty. She pays attention to detail, and sculpts my hair
style around the shape of my face, my general styling, and personality! She is well informed of how to deal
with all hair types, putting her one step above the rest. She is technically proficient, as I have never been
burned by her during a relaxer application. Her styles are always trend informed, whilst remaining salonfriendly, and I am always flooded with compliments when my hair has just been done by Michelle.
She is also an amazing teacher, and has taught me how to maintain my hair at home. She advises me on
which products to use, and provides me with a bespoke combination of products according to the condition

I’ve been having my hair done by Michelle Thompson for over 7 years. One of the many things I love about
Michelle is the personal touch she offers, she knows my hair and always manages to create a style that not
only looks good but suits my personality. With every style change she explains the cut and gives me a home
care routine and styling advice so I feel confident to maintain my style between visits.
