Q: Are pets allowed on the cruises?
A: For health and safety reasons, pets are not allowed.
Q: Are passports required for all cruises?
A: THEY ARE ONLY REQUIRED FOR THE BOLDT CASTLE STOP-OVER
CRUISE.
Q. Does the 2.5 hour cruise stop at Boldt Castle?
A. No, the 2.5 hour cruise circles Heart Island and Boldt Castle but
does not stop, therefore passports are not required for this cruise.
Q: Are senior rates and family passes available?
A: Yes, both senior rates and family passes are available for cruises.
Q: Do I have to pay extra to visit Boldt Castle?
A: Yes, there is an admission that is not included in our ticket price.
Q. What is proper identification for U.S. Customs at Boldt Castle?
A.Tours to Boldt Castle are subject to Canadian and U.S. Customs.
Gananoque Boat Line has no control over these policies and must
adhere to them. The following are documents required to take the Boldt
Castle Tour:
1) ALL PASSENGERS REQUIRE A VALID PASSPORT.
2) All non-Canadian or non-U.S. visitors will require a passport and a
valid Canadian and United States entry visa.
3) Passengers must show appropriate documents to Gananoque
Boat Line personnel prior to purchasing tickets. Passengers must
carry their documents with them at all times while onboard.
NO EXCEPTIONS WILL OR CAN BE MADE.
Q: Are your vessels fully accessible?
A: Yes, all vessels are fully accessible on the first level.
Q. Can we bring food and beverages on the boat?
A. No, our boats are fully licensed and food & beverages are available for purchase.
Q: Are your vessels smoke free?
A: All our vessels are smoke free.
Q. Are reservations required?
A. Reservations are only accepted for groups of 25 or more. Our cruises are based on a first-come first-served basis.
Q. Is there a cost for parking?
A. Yes, there is a $2 charge for day parking. Parking passes are available through our lot attendants or through our ticket office.

History of Boldt Castle
In the early 1900’s, George C. Boldt, millionaire proprietor of the
world famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, set out to
build a full size Rhineland Castle on picturesque Heart Island.
Boldt`s family shared four glorious summers on the island in the Alster Tower while
300 workers fashioned the six story, 120
room castle, complete with tunnels, a powerhouse, Italian gardens, a drawbridge, and
a dovecote. Not a single detail or expense
was spared.
The grandiose structure was to be a display of his love for his wife, Louise. In
1904, tragedy struck. Boldt telegrammed
the island and commanded the workers to
immediately "stop all construction." Louise
had died suddenly. Boldt never returned to
the island, leaving behind the structure as
a monument of his love.
For 73 years, the castle and various stone
structures were left to the mercy of the wind, rain, ice, snow and
vandals.
Since 1977, when the 1000 Islands Bridge Authority acquired the
property, several million dollars have been spent rehabilitating,
restoring and improving the spectacular Heart Island structures.

Pendant 73 ans, le château et les nombreuses structures en pierre
ont été laissés à la merci du vent, de la pluie, de la glace, de la
neige et des vandales. Lorsque la direction du pont des Mille-Îles a
acquis la propriété en 1977, il a étédécidé que le château serait
entretenu au moyen des revenus nets tirés de son exploitation afin
