ROVER 1972/2008 36 YEARS IN BROADCAST
Since its foundation in 1972, RO.VE.R. has invested both human
and economical resources in technology, developing and
manufacturing highly professional products to
manage and control RADIO TV signals.
At the beginning of the 1980’s, the laboratories
of the National Italian broadcasting company RAI
Radio Televisione Italiana understood RO.VE.R.’s potential
and encouraged its development.
RO.VE.R. started to supply RAI with equipment for rebroadcasting, satellite ground stations and micro-repeaters.
Today RO.VE.R.’s Broadcast division is at the cutting edge of
technology and can supply the market with:
• Advanced technology
• Right-on-time, professional, customized products
(time-to-market)
• After–sales technical service to guarantee a long product life
(customer satisfaction)
• The Broadcast division follows the most advanced technological
developments and complies with European and world-wide
standards: DVB–T, DVB–H, DVB–S, DVB–S2, DVB–C, DVB–T–H,
MPEG2, MPEG4, etc.
These products are used in the TV network infrastructures and
monitoring systems of the most important network operators in the
field (RAI, MEDIASET, TDF, ORF, etc).
The first DVB–T (digital terrestrial) network in Italy was
installed by RAI in 2004 using RO.VE.R. products and the
following year covered 65% of the population. RO.VE.R.’s
“CMP” receiver is a vital part of that network; it
processes and provides a digital satellite
signal to various digital transmitters
for signal distribution. Equally
important is the product developed by
ROVER for ELETTRONICA INDUSTRIALE
MEDIASET
Group)
to
realise the first DVB–H
digital
network in
Italy. The Head-End,
mod.
“SAS800”,
was specifically
designed
by
RO.VE.R. for MEDIASET
and
includes
multiple
functions in only one 19” rack
unit, for example: SAT signal
reception, transport stream
analysis,
multi-program
signal decoding, switching
to an alternative ASI input
if primary stream errors are
detected and the possibility of
connecting via SNMP or WEB
to a local or remote P. C. for
monitoring purposes. More
than 1400 units were installed
in MEDIASET and TIM sites for
the completion of the entire
DVB–H network.
RO.VE.R. products
are customisable
for each network
operator; they can
be grouped into the
following families:
• DVB–T, DVB–S, DVB–S2, PDH single
and multiple professional receivers
• MPEG2 and MPEG4 decoders
•SDI, ASI, etc. change-overs and splitters
•Demodulators/adapters (QPSK/ASI, 8PSK/ASI,
ASI/ASI, G703/ASI, IP/ASI, etc.)
• 19” rack mounted instruments
• Portable field meters and monitoring.
