The Marie-Antoinette Bol Sein is part of a table service made in 1787 by
the Manufacture Royale de Porcelaine de Sévres for the French queen’s
dairy at the Rambouillet chateau. Legend has it that the Bol Sein, with
its perfect curve and rounded shape, was moulded on the breast of the
queen herself. It is also said that Marie-Antoinette used it to drink not just
milk, but also champagne.
The Dom Pérignon Oenotheque Bol Sein, as reinterpreted by Karl
Lagerfeld, is the contemporary incarnation of this illustrious piece.
Made of hard porcelain, it was moulded on Claudia Schiffer’s body,
and produced in the workshops of the Ancienne Manufacture Royale
de Limoges. Extremely fine platinum line has been delicately applied by
hand to beautiful, delicate, translucent white porcelain.
