Another summer has just flown by
and when you read this newsletter,
our children will be back in school.
But the great fun continues at the
Fredericksburg Country Club. We
have many great activities this fall
including the FCC Golf Championships September 5, 6 & 7th, Family
Golf Day on September 19th, the
ongoing Junior Golf Program, and
the FCC Golf Awards event October
10th. Down at the tennis courts, Rob
and Whitney have the Junior Club
Championships slated for October
25th. We also have many fall junior
tennis programs in place, as well as,
cardio tennis to keep everyone in
shape this winter. If you haven’t
stopped by the Rappahannock
Room for lunch or dinner in recent
months, not only are you missing out
on great food, great wine and our
wonderful country club service, you
are also missing the fabulous art
display by local artist Betsy Glassie.
She has kindly loaned us her masterpieces for us to enjoy and they are
for sale at reasonable prices. So
please make a point to swing by
the Rappahannock Room to enjoy
her superb artwork.

One of our highlights this fall is the
addition of Nancy Dominesey, our new
Fitness Trainer who has just recently
come on board. Please keep a lookout
for our Constant Contact ads promoting her services, not only for one-onone training, but also small group
classes will be available. Please see
the ad in this newsletter on page 4.
This fall we will be featuring our fabulous Labor Day celebration on Monday
September 7th from 3:00 to 7:00pm
with a delicious buffet (steamed crabs
optional), Moon Bounce, beach music
and the pool and snack bar will stay
open until 8:00pm. Another great highlight coming in September will be a
Sushi Night in the ala carte dining
rooms with guest chef Jonathan Chen
from Umi’s restaurant providing a wide
array of your favorite sushi. This function will be limited to the first 50 people and starts at 5:30pm on Friday,
September 11th. Please see the ad
on page 19.
Great news! The Board of Directors
has voted to open the swimming pool
and snack bar on September 12th &
13th from 10:30am to 8:00pm to close
the season. On Saturday night, we will
have a pool party from 6:00-8:00pm
featuring burgers on the grill, games and
a DJ.
Don’t forget to sign up for our Historic
Smithfield Brooke Foundation (HSBF)
Annual Golf Tournament to raise money
for the repair of our clubhouse chimneys.
Donations to the HSBF are tax deductible.
Please contact Debby Collins at
540.842.2626 or [email protected].
The tournament will be held on Sunday,
September 20th at 8:00am with a fantastic
prize package. Please see the registration
form on page 6. Also, don’t forget the
annual Bob Bradley Golf Tournament
which will be held on Saturday, October
3rd with the proceeds going to a scholarship fund for junior golfers in the state
of Virginia. The fun this fall continues on
the dance floor with our Fall Dance on
Saturday, October 17th at 5:30pm, featuring The Abbe Buck Trio. See page 19 for
details.
Beer aficionados will be delighted with
our Friday, October 23rd Beer Tasting,
featuring guest chef Mr. John Fick and a
selection of five beers and a seasonally
delightful fall menu. See page 20 for more
details on this event. And winding up the
month of October will be our family event,
Haunted Mansion Dinner, at the Club
on Friday, October 30th.
The Club has had a very good year
concerning membership with currently
49 new members joining or returning
to our Club. As you know, no other
club in the Fredericksburg area offers
our blend of historic ambiance, recreational sports, delightful social events,
and exceptional service. Our events at
the Club mark the seasons and shape
the traditions for generations of family
members. Whether you come to the
Club for outstanding golf or tennis, a
relaxing day at the pool, or one of our
fantastic social events, you will appreciate our rich tradition of southern hospitality. The only thing you really need
to do when you come to the Club is
relax and enjoy.
As the Club continues to grow, it is
vitally important that we all stick
together, member and employees
alike, with one goal in mind, to make
the Fredericksburg Country Club the
best sports and dining facility in
Fredericksburg. If you have a friend or
business associate interested in membership, please have him contact Joe
Botkin or Frank Dena at the Club.

Board of Directors Openings
Any member interested in serving on the
Board of Directors should contact the
Club office by December 1st, 2015.
There will be three positions available on
the Board to be elected for a three-year
term at the Annual Shareholders Meeting
in 2016. If more than six members sign
up to be considered as possible candidates, interviews may be conducted by
the Nominating Committee to select two
candidates per vacancy. In order to
ensure a slate of qualified candidates, the
following criteria will be considered:
• The candidate’s record of membership
and constructive effort on a standing
committee
• Evaluation of the candidate’s interview
responses
• Length of membership and service on
any standing committee
• The candidate’s membership category
Employee Christmas Bonus
It has been customary at Christmas time for
members of the Fredericksburg Country
Club to express their good wishes by making a small donation to a Christmas fund to
be distributed to the approximately sixty
Club employees. To continue this custom,
and for your convenience, we will add
25.00 to your Club bill at the end of
October. If you wish to give more than
25.00, please call the business office or note
the amount you wish to give on your remittance to be received by the office before
December 1st. If you do not wish to participate in this custom, please call the business
office before December 1st and this amount
will be eliminated from your bill. We have
an extremely capable and loyal Staff, many
of whom have been with us for years, and
have put in many hours to improve the quality of service that you have been enjoying.

The Country Club Ambassador Program
The Club is looking for current members
who would like to join our Ambassador
Program. This program will be a fun and
exciting way to meet new friends by welcoming new members to our Club. The
Membership Committee is looking for
people from all member classifications
to help us greet and make new members
feel welcome.
The Club is a great place to benefit from
a lifetime of leisure and recreation. We
all want to enjoy the time that we spend
at the Club and one of the most difficult
things to do as a new member is to find a
place to “fit in”, to make new friends and
to experience the camaraderie of a great
golf game or tennis match followed by
drinks in the 19th Hole and a great meal
in the Rappahannock Room. Introducing
new members to “well-established”
members will give the new member an
opportunity to meet new people and
feel good about joining the Club. It also
gives the well-established member an
opportunity to make new friends.
We are looking for couples with young
children, families with teens, empty
nesters, seniors, singles, golf or tennis
groups looking for someone to join in
their group, swim team families, bridge
groups, dining groups, etc. Your only
obligation will be to enhance your own
circle of friends. This is a great opportunity to escape from the day-to-day
world and help welcome a new member
to the Club.
If you are interested in joining our
group of ambassadors, please contact
Frank Dena at 540-373-8781 Ext. 15.
September/October 2015

Tennis Guest Policy
FCC tennis just wrapped up another
great summer season. Participation
in junior activities has never been
higher. Over 100 hours of scheduled
junior programming was offered to
our membership this summer; and
the turnout was excellent.
Fall and winter are traditional
tournament months for the Tennis
department. Men’s and Ladies’
Singles Club Championships,
along with the Junior Club
Championships, will be held in
the upcoming weeks and months.
Any guest of a member is limited to
using the tennis facilities 6 times per
calendar year with a maximum of one
visit per month for guests that reside
within 50 miles of the Club. This does
not mean 6 times per year per each
sponsoring member. Member-Guest
Tournament play does not count towards
the 6 time guest limit. Any guest of a
member who resides outside a 50 mile
radius of the Club is not restricted to the
amount of times they may use the tennis
facilities. It is the responsibility of the
member to register their guest(s) with
the Tennis Pro or on the Guest
Registration Sheet at the Tennis Pro
Shop before play begins. A fee as
posted will be charged for an unregistered guest. Any guest residing within
a 50 mile radius of the Club must
complete a Guest Registration Form.
We will have many opportunities
15
Exceptions
Contract tennis holders are allowed to
bring in a guest 6 times per calendar
year as a sub for contract tennis. The
“once a month” stipulation does not
apply, but these visits will count toward
the 6 times per year total as described
above. The first three visits will be
charged at a 7.50 guest fee each time,
while the next three visits will be at
15.00 per visit. Please have your guest
sign in at the front desk.
Non-members may participate on
Club-sponsored teams. These bonafide
guests may participate in prearranged
USTA team practices that are approved
in advance by the Club’s Tennis
Professional and they may play in
team matches.
These visits are not counted as one of
their 6 times per year maximum limit.
for match play as we invite all of
our tennis players to come on out.
See you on the courts.
Attention Tennis Members
Effective January 1, 2015, the random/
open play rate was increased from 20.00
to 24.00 per court per hour. All contract
time will remain the same at 20.00 per
court per hour.
Contract Tennis
Substitute Update
When our tennis professional substitutes
for a player in contract time, the Club
will bill the member, who has requested
the tennis pro to fill his spot, at the
current lesson rate of 44.00 per hour.
If a tennis staff person, other than a
pro, substitutes for a player in contract
time, the Club will bill the member,
who has requested the tennis pro to
fill his spot, at 25.00 per hour.
