Seasonal Backgrounds and Avatars Available for Selection in
Scout
Summary
Seasonal background and avatars can be made available for selection, from the
Background field’s list of options, by logged in Scout Users. The seasons
provided in the system by default are ANZAC Day, Easter, Halloween and
Christmas. Note that this feature is not available for Olly users.
This guide will identify the seasonal images and note the additional avatars that
become available when a season selected. A separate guide provides the steps
required for logged in borrowers to select their own background and avatar and
identifies the backgrounds and avatars available.
Related Parameter
The applicable season can be selected on Parameter No.4807 - Season
Images.
The season selected may result in more than one background option becoming
available for selection.
Note: There are no avatars associated with the ANZAC background and only one
background image is available for selection in the Settings tab.
The images related to the season will be available for selection in the drop
down list of the Background field in the Settings tab. Easter provides two image
options, Bright Easter and Easter Rabbits.
If the logged in user selects Easter Rabbits, the background would display as exampled in
the screen provided below.
Additional avatars on the theme of the season, selected on Parameter No. 4807, in this
example Easter, are included in the Me section of the Settings tab. Borrowers can change
the image on their My Library button by clicking on their preferred avatar in the usual
manner. Any changes made by borrowers in the Settings tab should then be saved.
Once the season has passed staff can access the parameter and select the ‘-‘ option until
the next season is to be chosen.
When the logged in user then re-selects a non-seasonal background the season background
option is no longer available in the drop down list of options and will need to manually reselect their favoured avatar to remove the seasonal one they selected
Other Seasonal Backgrounds and Associated Avatars
Some examples of other seasonal backgrounds and their associated avatars are provided
below
ANZAC Day:
Note that there is only one background available for selection and no associated avatars for
this “season”.
Christmas Background Example:
There are two background images available for selection for the Christmas season. In the
example shown, Christmas Reindeers is selected. The associated Christmas avatars are
available for selection in the Me section.
Halloween Background Example:
There is more than one background available for selection for Halloween “season”. The
example shown identifies the background and avatars available when Spooky Halloween is
selected:
Location for Custom Images and Avatars
Staff with applicable authority can also copy custom images and avatars to the locations,
identified below, so they are available for selection from the Me section in the Setting Tab in
Orbit and Scout. The locations are:
jboss\UserDefinedLocations\avatars
jboss\UserDefinedLocations\seasonal\backgrounds
Note: If any custom images containing spaces are copied to either locations they will not be
loaded correctly.
