CULTURE
NIGHT
FRI SEP 16
REVOLVES AROUND YOU
CORK COUNTY 2016
MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
Now in its sixth year, Culture Night Cork County is well established as an
annual celebration of culture, creativity and the arts. The response from
so many of our arts and cultural organisations, artists and venues who
give their time so willingly to participate in Culture Night and organise
free events for everyone to enjoy has been truly heart warming. I would
like to thank all of the organisations and individuals who are taking
part in this fantastic event, Cork County Culture Night Ambassador, Pat
Kinevane, and also acknowledge the financial support of the Department
of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
Culture Night only comes around once a year and it is a great opportunity
for all the family to experience some of the county’s wonderful cultural
offerings. I would encourage everyone to get out on Friday September
16th to Explore, Experience and Enjoy all the county has to offer.
Anois ina 6ú bhliain, tá Oiche Chultúir Contae Chorcaí bunaithe go
deimhin mar féile bliaintúil de cultúr, cruthaitheacht agus na healaíona.
Bhí an fhreagairt an-corraitheach ón oiread sin dár eagraíochtaí ealaíon
agus cultúrtha, ó ealaíontóirí agus ionaid, a thugann a gcuid ama go
toilteanach chun a bheith rannpháirteach san Oíche Chultúir agus
imeachtaí saor in aisce a cur ar siúl do gach duine chun taitneamh a bhaint
astu. Ba mhaith liom buíochas a gabhail leis na eagraíochtaí agus daoine
éagsúla a bhfuil ag glacadh pairt san imeacht iontach seo, Ambasadóir
Oiche Chultúir de Contae Chorcaí, Pat Kinevane, agus aitheantas a
thabhairt don cúnamh airgeadais fial ón Roinn Ealaíon, Oidhreachta agus
Gaeltachta go háirithe.
Tagann Oíche Chultúir timpeall ach uair amháin sa bhliain agus is deis
iontach duinn táiriscíntí cultúrtha an Chontae iontach seo a fheiceáil.
Mholfainn do gach duine dul amach ar an Aoine 16 Meán Fómhair
ag taiscéaladh, agus bain sult agus taithí as an méid go léir a bhfuil le
thairiscint ag an Chontae.
Cllr. Seamus McGrath
Mayor of the County of Cork / An Méara de Chontae Chorcaí

songwriting provides plenty of opportunity for experimentation as
electronic sounds and voices weave different worlds. Music to get lost in.
Well known as guitar player with Ten Past Seven and the Dragon of
Shandon Band, Rory Francis O’Brien’s solo project sees him explore new
musical terrain, blending traditional instrumentation and folk textures
with contemporary melancholy. O’Brien’s solo effort highlights his
command of silence and space to craft stark and personal songs.
