Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and is administered
by the Huntington Arts Council, Inc.
The orchestra also appreciates the continuing and longtime support of Astoria Bank for the Mineola and Lynbrook
performances as part of the bank’s summer Music Under The
Stars Program.
All parks have ample parking and are handicapped accessible.
Admission, as always, is free. Do not forget to post the enclosed
schedule so that you do not miss any of these upcoming events.
S
ometimes the simplest experiences are the most
pleasurable. If you have ever been entertained by The
Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra during its summer
concert series, then you know what a satisfying musical
experience it can be. At last it is time to remove those lawn
chairs from storage and get ready to have your evenings filled
with your most loved songs. Then sit back and relax as The
Nassau Pops begins its 31st season of concerts with Long Island’s
beautiful parks as a backdrop.
The orchestra will open Series I concerts on Friday, July 10th in
Wilson Park in the Village of Mineola, sponsored by the Village
and the Mineola Chamber of Commerce. On July 12th, the
orchestra travels just beyond the Nassau border to appear on the
soundstage of Heckscher Park in the Town of Huntington. They
head back west on Wednesday, July 22nd bringing Series I to a
close with a performance at Valley Stream’s scenic Village Green.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS! For the last eleven years,
audience members have been entertained by The Nassau Pops
at the benefit performances for United Cerebral Palsy of Nassau
County at Long Island’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.
This year, in honor of Frank Sinatra’s one-hundredth birthday
the orchestra will be joined by none other than Joe Piscopo.
Joe, who came to fame on Saturday Night Live will be making
his second appearance with The Nassau Pops on October 18 at
3pm. Together they will recreate some of Sinatra’s best loved
songs. The title sponsor of the performance is NEFCU. This
partnership with The Nassau Pops celebrates the opening of
NEFCU’s doors to the general public with many new locations
in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Further details and directions to all of our concerts can always be
found on our website, www.nassaupops.com, or you can call our
office at 516-565-0646. We look forward to seeing you!
Series II begins with all new music and a return visit to Mineola’s
Wilson Park on July 31st. The orchestra travels to Lynbrook’s
Greis Park on August 7th and the season concludes with a
performance at Syosset/Woodbury Park on Wednesday, August
11th when The Nassau Pops will be accompanying Strawberry
Fields, the Ultimate Beatles Tribute Band.
Look for Jack and Ann Cassin to be back again, joining the
orchestra with love songs and music from some of Broadway’s
greatest productions.
This program of concerts is made possible with funds from the
Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York
State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew

Toni Rosenbaum
One of the most satisfying experiences for a music teacher is to see one’s
student pursue a career in music. It was 1995 when Toni Rosenbaum
entered the fourth grade at the Howell Road School in Valley Stream
District 13 and began her study of the French horn with Band Director
Charlie Zipperlen, a long-time member of The Nassau Pops French
horn section. One year later, Charlie retired, and his successor, Lou
Panacciulli took up the reins there. Toni was a dedicated student and
followed her love of music by enthusiastically participating in concert
band, orchestra, and chorus not only at Howell Road School but
through her graduation from Valley Stream Central High School.
Toni attended the University of Delaware graduating in 2007 with a Major in French horn and a Minor
in Music Business. She received her Master’s Degree in Non-Profit Management from The New School
in 2011 and began her working career at The Juilliard School as an Admissions Counselor. Shortly
thereafter, Toni spent time working for the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City, a
nonprofit theatre that produces Broadway shows, notably Anything Goes and Cabaret.
Currently, she works at Lincoln Center and is involved
in a fundraising project leading to the renovation and
renaming of Avery Fisher Hall. This new five hundred
million dollar theater will be named David Geffen
Hall. David Geffen, along with Steven Spielberg
and Jeff Katzenberg, founded Dreamworks
Productions. Geffen donated one hundred million dollars to this state-of-the-art
renovation which will now bear his name in perpetuity.
It has been a long time since Maestro Panacciulli was Toni’s instructor at Howell
Road School and is now delighted she has returned as a faithful member of
The Nassau Pops.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
