Paul Tracy won the
Vancouver
Molson
Indy by a
smoldering
18 seconds.
Add this to
his Toronto
victory you
get a double
Indy winner --definitely a hot
item in the
Canadian
race realm.
Two nights before the Indy
Tracy hosted the Miss
Molson Indy bikini contest
at the Commodore Ball room
in Vancouver. Sponsored by
Bavarian Beer 21 beautiful
young women did a short
skit to a rockin’ piece of
choice and wowed the audience. By the look of intense
concentration
on the camera
mens’ faces I
could tell that
this show was a
hit.

Tracy live compelling
rhythms of Brazilian music
and dancers. Jungle-like
melodies, fast undulating
rhythms, dancers, colourful
costumes, gymnastics and
loud drum riffs entertained a
full ballroom of Indy VIP’s.
Tables of food lined the
dance floor. CTV, City TV
and more media took
notes and cameramen filtered through
the crowds.
The Bavarian
Mascott was particularly pletely naked except for a Ginteresting. She was com- String and multi-coloured
head plumage. I think she
forgot her shirt - oh well the
paint she used to color her
upper body at least matched
her eyes.
If Tracy can win the Indy
in Montreal August 22-24
he’ll reap a Triple Crown
Indy - Impressive.
Lynne Kushnirenko took
the Miss Molson Indy 2003
title. Event pass courtesy of

Aquadel Golf Course
There are many places in a
golf swing that things can go
wrong. Just setting up to the
ball before you hit can start
you on a bad swing. But the
most predominant swing
fault I see with my students
is the bad move from the top
of their back swing. Once
you start wrong there is no
correcting your swing path
and most people are just
holding on for dear life just
to make contact with the
ball. Ben Hogan said “A
player must come down the
same swing path as they
went up on.” More recently
we believe that a player must
come down on the same path
or inside that path in order to
release the club properly
through impact. Lets call the
starting position where your
hands start at address, position 1. Now let’s call the
position where your hands
are at the top of the
backswing, position 2. Now
imagine a straight line from
position 1 to position 2. This
line is the line your hands
should travel on. If your
hands travel outside this line,

away from your body, you
will either slice the ball or
pull the ball, and if you add
the release of your hands
through impact, you have the
dreaded pull hook. If your
hands travel on the line
or inside this line you
will now be able to
release the club through
impact without a pull and
achieve a straight shot or
draw shot. The “Sam 2000"
teaching machine I use can
help you feel this straight
down swing path or you can
set up a soft obstruction to
make sure you are swinging
straight between position 1
and position 2. There are
various other swing aids to
help with a transformation in
G
your
swing and video cameras can
be helpful. If you have a bad
over the top move, you will
find that you will have to
hold your shoulders from
rotating to quickly from the
top of your swing. You will
find the first move will be a

Community - it’s who we are
slight lateral shift of your
body towards the target with
the arms starting to drop
straight down at the same
time. If you are used to just
turning everything quickly
from the top of your swing
then you are in for a big
change. Try to make this
change with very slow practice swings. Almost everyone I have taught tries
making swing changes at full
speed. This does not work.
Be methodical. Don’t be
surprised if the first few balls
you hit go straight right. If
you have been hitting over
the top for a long time your
hands will be frozen and will
not release properly. You
must now learn release ( or
proper rotation ) of the hands.
Refer to my previous article,
“Please release me, let me
go.” Good Luck with your
adventure! Dick Whitlam is
